just fyi, btw

1st round, he wins with some rallying, but it's not by a ton, and no one even bats an eye.
2nd round, he roflstomps MMX and Ryu, people start calling the contest for Draven, But there's still plenty of doubt, I mean it's Link next round.
3rd round, we all know how this went, between the downtime, the crazy comebacks for Link, and the poll not getting extended, people were all kinds of mad.
Semi-Finals, the rally threads get deleted on Reddit, Mewtwo looks like he's cruising to an easy win, Board 8 is ecstatic, the contest is saved! But no, rally threads are allowed again and Draven erases his deficit in no time at all.
Final match, No one gives Snake a chance, but what's this! David Hayter, Kojima, wrestlers! Snake has a chance, he's cutting, GameFAQS can actually win! JUST KIDDING! Rally topic gets stickied right before the LoL world championships start, 20,000+ on the subreddit at the time, Draven enters god mode and ends this match in a matter of minutes.
Draven could have just won each match easily, with no drama but no, he gave hope every single time, and then crushed gamefaqs users dreams. It's crazy.

Do you know at what point during this the DoS occurred? Hint: it was when the Draven rally was temporarily dead and Link was cutting 800 votes off an hour.

You realize that the total votes in that match were less than those in the old contests, and in the Undertale match?

And that at the time of DoS, Draven was getting absolutely smashed and pulling in next to zero votes per update?

It's amazing to me how people can have such confidence in topics they are so ignorant about.

If you get to the end and do not win the jury vote, then by definition, you did not play the best game.

This. This is exactly what I hate. There's this misconception to treat jury members like they've just descended from the gates of heaven, and they are only capable of perfection and nothing they do can ever be wrong or unfair. So many people have this view. And it just feeds the entitlement you see more and more in jury speeches and and jury reactions every season.

Every person on the jury is a human being. And just as capable of making a mistake as someone else. If as a jury member you delude yourself into believing that a shitty player "outplayed" everyone, that he "actually outplayed everyone precisely by doing nothing!" and you invent all these bullshit reasons and arguments so you can lie to yourself and salvage a wounded pride, then you're wrong. You're being unfair. And you're wrong. And you're inconsistent with your own arguments, you're disgracing the game, and you're wrong.

A jury is giving a million dollars away. That can change someone's life. They don't want to award a piece of shit who treated them like shit just because he played a flashier strategic game. Survivor is, and has always been, a social game.

Well, that's fine. And that is Russell's flaw, and the only reason I'd at least pause before giving him the title as the greatest ever. If you want to say "you outplayed me, you outplayed us all, but I just don't like you, so I'm not voting for you", then you go ahead. But you shoudn't deny the fact that you did get outplayed, and that he did play the best game.

And in my opinion, however bad it hurts, however much you hate it, a jury member should vote for the guy who played the best, not who they liked the most. I mean, this isn't a high-school lunch table. They should swallow their pride and respect the game. At least that's just how I see it.

I'd say Sandra and Natalie both did a pretty damn good job of not being on the jury.

The only reason they made it to the jury was because Russell had to take someone. He could have just as easily picked someone else. Call me crazy, but I think putting your entire fate in the hands of another player is pretty weak gameplay, and not the kind of thing any sensible jury should reward.

Natalie even said "Gee, it was hard to play strategically, because I never knew what was going on". And people really think she deserved to win. They really think that. And they call themselves fans of the game. That is so amazing to me.

Russell lost because he treated people like horseshit

Then why didn't they vote him out?

Because good Survivor players take people to the end that they know they can beat.

Then how did they all wind up on the jury? And why was it that for so many of them, the very last thing they tried to do was rally votes against Russell?

It's really kind of funny the extent to which people are willing to revise reality. Yes, Russell is a douchebag. Yes, he's just a naturally terrible human being. But sometimes the bad guys win. Sometimes they beat you. And you can't just squeeze your eyes shut and pretend it didn't happen, like the juries did who anti-voted him.

Just look at this, probably the saddest and most pathetic moment in survivor history. The worst part -- by far -- are the comments:

How did all these ridiculous trolls start coming into our topics?

Yeah, because it's such a ridiculous opinion to think that people who outwit outplay and outlast deserve to win. And that there's something a little wrong with a jury that blasphemes someone for succeeding in exactly what they tried (but failed) to do themselves.

I mean, Ozzy is a complete moron, but even I had to give him credit for voting for Brad on the account of getting Brad to succeed where Ozzy failed. I thought Sarah hands down deserved the win, but Ozzy's logic -- and anyone's logic who supported Brad -- was not unreasonable.

Healers are your EMTs, Doctors, Nurses, etc.

If there are upset juries Hantz doesn't win two games, Parvati does.

I'm so sick of everyone acting like Parvati deserved to win just because Russell gave her a nod during the reunion show when he just wanted to save face. Honestly, anyone who takes anything said at a reunion show seriously -- especially those ridiculous "what if" jury votes -- is pretty clueless.

It was Russell who put down Boston Rob -- possibly the greatest to ever play this game -- and saved Parvati's ass. And then when there came a showdown between Russell and Parvati, it was Russell "the worst social player ever" who corralled more people and won the battle (cya, Danielle).

Russell could have eliminated Parvati literally any tribal council he wanted to. She could not -- did not -- muster the strength he had. It was he who built the alliances they survived on, he who played Coach like a fiddle -- and Jerri too. Parvati hid behind Russell's shield the entire game, and had it not been for him she would have been sent packing without much resistance just like on Cook Islands.

Not to say that she's a bad player -- she is a very good player -- but let's be real. She's no Russell Hantz.

It also annoys me how juries always put themselves on such a pedestal. They play the same snake-game as the finalists, and then act all hoity-toity at the FTC because they got whooped. That's why I sometimes think this show is a joke. Sarah should not have had to apologize for anything.
