It's not that I dislike politicians; it's that I don't innately trust any of them no matter what they preach. American politics is a cesspool and, in order to effectively participate as a career politician, swimming in it is a REQUIREMENT. It's like staring into the Abyss. Young idealists might start their careers as philanthropists wanting to better the world, but put themselves at risk of becoming another member of corrupt predators in charge to do so.

Learning to practice grift to uproot established grifters always put you at risk of becoming one of them down the line. Being confronted with institutional barriers that require grift to pass can hasten this corruption. The established know this, hoping it leads to young blood being initiated faster and hinder challenges to the status quo.

You ever want to see the predatory establishment get alarmed and rally towards an actual threat, look towards whom they fiercely bombard the public with propaganda about and quickly attempt to stonewall with institutional policies. That candidate is demonstrating an uncanny endurance to the barriers and trying to cut roots the established want untouched.

If you feel intimidated, ask yourself "do I want to keep paying for something I don't want ". Think of the company's tactics as shady and deliberate towards you. Get offended about their attempts to trap you. Use that energy to ignore the relevance of the forgettable nobody on the phone and politely yet persistently tell them it's over.

Turns out it's NOT a universal outcome for every individual, because the ability to socially self reflect is not universally instilled or valued (a form of empathy that is required for the saying to be accurate). Some people hit rock bottom through their own proven dysfunction and still blame all their failures on the rest of the world...because shifting that blame is easier for their delicate ego to digest than honestly acknowledging they made contributing mistakes. It's a fear of accountability even when the person acts boldfaced about it. They are an example of people who typically do not become nicer (or emotionally stronger) people after hardship because there's no lesson learned without that self reflection. The person basically keep themselves angry at the world because they refuse to identify themselves as a contributing factor even when the evidence points in that direction.

This is a very common coping mechanism of individuals who have developed a perpetual "victim complex". The complex gives their ego security because it provides an easy scapegoat to avoid uncomfortable self reflection when confronted or disagreed with. Big surprise, most people with said mindset have lousy interpersonal skills and a cutthroat life perspective because their motto is "it's always someone else's fault even when no one else is involved ". It's a mentality that's in direct conflict with becoming a more compassionate person.

Hardships have lead to some of the most noble people in history, but also some of the most barbaric.
