I have literally never seen anything close to that happen in a professional business setting. I've been in hundreds of meetings with clients and the closest it came to politics was discussing government funding related to our projects.

Where a lot of people got hit last time was their 401k. I know a guy that lost 2/3 of his retirement fund in the last crash. I don't think a lot of people realize how much their money is used to gamble with by the banks and other various financial institutions. People put their money in the bank and think it just sits there. When in reality they're using it to buy bonds, and with the yield curve inverted they can't maintain liquidity. It's basically a Ponzi scheme. All your money is tied up in other peoples failing investments.

We are in a labor market, and businesses are scared by that.

The numbers aren't quite as they seem considering they're counting all of the people returning to work after COVID. The fact that 60%+ of the available jobs are low paying service industry jobs doesn't help. Not surprising unemployment is low when a ton of people need to work two jobs just to make ends meet.

Only a matter of time I suppose. A Russian surveillance plane was bombed on a runway in Belarus. Russia says it was a Ukrainian drone, and Ukraine is saying it's Belarusian separatists. Either way, it gives Belarus an excuse to officially join the war now.

These aren't contradictory statements. Shooting it down anywhere other than within US/CA sovereign airspace would have made the US look sus, diplomatically. And it's not like it's a good idea to shoot down such a large balloon over populated land.

They literally watched it pass right over massive swaths of uninhabited land over Alaska. It then passed through Canada and down into Montana. Last I checked, Alaska would be considered US airspace.

I didn't post a link because I can't remember where I read it. You can post whatever you want. My point is you're dumb to trust it. I'm guessing you're too young to remember when every "reputable source" out there was saying Iraq was full of WMDs. I'll trust retired military any day over active when it comes to media. They still have connections to intelligence but they aren't bound to following orders. BTW the entire first deployment from Russia was less than 130,000 troops the vast majority of which were not engaged in front line combat. Even less in the current wave, mostly rocket and artillery units are being used. So yeah, 100,000+ Russian casualties. Totally believable. Do you really not think you're being fed propaganda? The government has used the media as it's own personal arm for every conflict in modern history, but somehow this time is different?

Feel free to rub it in my face when the Ukrainians crush Russia. Ill gladly say I was wrong. How many of you are willing to eat crow when it goes the other way? Ill take note.

I read it in an interview of a retired US Colonel, but you go ahead and make whatever assumptions you like. The news barks off propaganda and people just eat it up. They had people believing Russia was running out of weapons, lol! Yeah sure, the second largest arms exporter on earth has depleted it's stockpiles fighting conscripts. I don't know where you're getting your information, but I'd highly recommend looking elsewhere. The last I read on the KIA numbers, Ukraine was losing soldiers at a roughly 8:1 rate to the Russians.

I'm not sure how you got abusive from inconvenient. I was mainly expressing that when hard times come, or you hit a rough patch in a relationship, people tend to just flake rather than put in the effort it takes to work through it.

The average person today is deeply self centered and opportunistic. The thought of great self sacrifice for the sake of a union, let alone another person is almost alien to them. It's the result of creating a society where everything and everyone is viewed as disposable the moment they become inconvenient.

Edit: The primary balloon is allegedly over Missouri as of around 5:00pm Eastern time. By the time this gets out it will have moved on, probably to the east coast.

Edit 2: 1933 Eastern - picking up reports of a possible missile strike on a balloon over Montana. Developing right now, more information to follow.

Just a quick update: We're tracking multiple targets so this is to clear up any confusion thus far. Total of Two balloons CONFIRMED so far, One in Montana, one in Latin America (somewhere). There are possibly two different balloons in latin america, but the DoD has only confirmed one down there. No word in several hours on the possible bogey in Canadian airspace. As of a few minutes ago, locals in Billings, Montana observed a possible strike on a balloon.

It's an incursion into US airspace. That's far from a "little thing", and there's a second one following behind it. I find it deeply concerning that we haven't shot it down. That's the general procedure for an airspace violation. We have all of our nightwatch assets deployed right now, and that's some scary shit. They aren't up for a drill, so that means there's some serious talk going on right now at the pentagon.

The key items in that passage are "knowingly removes" and "with the intent to retain".

I think the issue here is that intent is it's a very difficult thing to solidify in a court. I think it could probably work out fine for Pence, but with Biden's case, they're going to need to go back decades for some of this stuff. The defense can say it was a simple mistake and it was just missed/forgotten, but the prosecution can just as easily argue there was fell intent, which will ultimately lead to a serious deep dive into his history. It opens up the opportunity to go fishing, and if he's like every other politician, there's no shortage of dirty secrets that could be equally undoing for him.

trumps refusal to return, outright lies by his counsel regarding possession of the documents and fight to hold onto the documents is evidence of his intentions. Even if he initially took them by accident, once he became aware he was in possession of them it was no longer an accident.

likewise pence and Bidens co operation in returning the document and self reporting possession of the documents is evidence that neither had any intent to take them in the first place.

its really that simple and a google of the matter would turn up any number of expert legal opinions by actual lawyers who specialize In the matter.

As far as I can tell, Trump is the only one that actually had administrative discretion around the time any of these documents were moved. Some of the documents Biden had dated back to when he was still just a senator, so those ones in particular are a very big no no. None of them should have had them regardless. I don't get why people are sooo desperate to shill for Biden. He's just another crooked politician. He doesn't give a shit about you any more than Trump does.

I wouldn't say so. I have a PS5, and I know a couple of other people that do as well. If there were ever a "least accessed" generation of consoles, it would be all of the new pop up systems that came out between the SNES and PS1. NeoGeo, SegaCD, 3DO, ect. I can't recall for sure, but I think the Jaguar might have been on the tail end of that as well. I can't say I knew anyone that owned any of them. I would say TurboGrafix-16 could be one as well if you consider the gap between the NES and SNES to be a console generation. I actually got to play one of them though. It was a pretty sick console. Ahead of its time. The games were tiny. Only about the size of a few stacked up credit cards.

I could personally give a shit less either way. I'd prefer neither of them be able to run again. The facts I'm looking at are the ones that will actually stick in court. You're bringing up stuff like espionage, but there's not a damn bit of evidence of that that would hold up in court. If that's what they want to chase to charge him with, they'll fail yet again. They could have probably had him on obstruction the last time around, but the dems would rather paint him as the devil incarnate and shoot for the biggest crime possible. If they would have just pushed on what they had actionable evidence on, this could have been settled years ago. They're dooming themselves with their own political theater.

I wasn't really focusing on anything. It sounds to me like you don't understand that people don't need to follow the narrative you want them to. BTW the similarities are the important part here, since that's where the actual legal issues lie. When someone commits a crime. It doesn't matter if they fight it or turn themselves in. The crime still happened regardless. It may play into sentencing, but it should have no bearing on whether it's prosecuted or not.

I'm pretty sure the 1% everywhere doesn't stack with the other bonuses. I'm actually willing to bet none of them do. I've never seen cash back top 5% on anything.

The shady part is that this all happened right before the mid terms and they kept it hushed, while the Trump document story was simultaneously being blasted across every form of media in the country.

They found a bunch of classified documents in an old office he used shortly after his term as vice president. Essentially the same thing everyone lost their shit over with Trump. If you can't tell, the media is treating this story just a bit differently.

It's a lot harder to get tired of Elden Ring. If something starts to wear on you a bit, you can just walk away from it and deal with it later. There's so much more to do compared to the other souls games. It's easy to burn hours just screwing around. The fact that once you hit a certain point you can easily respec your character multiple times and completely change your play style helps keep it lively too.

Over 20 years, and its just gone.

I never really got why some people found the holidays to be a more depressing time of year than any other. if shit sucks, then it just sucks every day.
But yeah, I totally get it this year.

My daughter will be out of the country and I likely wont see her outside of video chat for the next 2 years. Pretty much all our friends stopped talking to me as well, so I mostly spend my days being mean to people online, and finding solace in their lives being fucked up as well. I've accepted that I really am just a cruel person, and I'm going to die alone.

Maybe I should adopt 50 cats?

The only reason I've been paying for it as long as I have is because my mom uses my account. If they stop that I'll just cancel my account and return to more dubious methods should they have something I want to watch.

I hope they get their heads straight. They need to fire all of the new writing staff. I had high hopes for Jodie Whittaker. I liked a lot of the other stuff she's done, but they really boned her as the doctor. I could barely make it through her first season. They focused so much on the companions and messaging she basically became a side character in her own story. It felt like she never really got a chance to shine.

Not to put the cart before the horse, but I have seen on this board from a handful of posters the incorrect assertion that Nazis are solely defined by their participation in and around the events of WWII. It is wrong to think that we cannot apply the Nazi label to those who carry on today espousing the same ideologies, employing the same symbols, regalia, and mannerisms of Nazis from decades ago. Call a spade a spade.

They may be "Neo-Nazis", "white nationalists" etc, but if they're acting the part, then arguing that they aren't "text book Nazis" is an impotent position to take founded on shaky semantics.

That particular occasion was referring to an event where a bunch of Nazis held a rally outside a Turning Point USA convention. That convention was a young americans meeting. Primarily grade school and junior high age kids. There was absolutely no connection between the two events, but some people here wanted to play it off like there was. That was my argument. Don't call a bunch of children Nazis because some assholes decided to show up outside and refused to leave when they were confronted. Because I didn't like them picking on children, the nutjobs here somehow equated that to me defending Nazis.

I hear ya. With few exceptions, most responders miss the point and harp on secondary issues, and don't really seem to know what they are talking about.

Trust me they're not missing the point, they're changing the subject. They know they can't argue the original topic so they steer it off on a tangent. The fact that they pile on like an angry mob around here only makes it worse. They help each other dodge questions by ignoring them and instead demanding that you answer theirs to the point of straight up harassment. It doesn't help that most of the mods drink the same Kool-Aid. They'll let them spew some of the most vile insults known to man, but god forbid you dish any back to them. They're like school playground attendants. They'll let you get bullied all day, but the second you swing back, it's off to the principal's office.
