Rumor is Johnathan Majors was cleared of the charges, but he's been canned by Marvel anyway.

And the stuff about the Duluth Model is horribly true. The far right want to keep it in place for "traditional" values. The far left also want to keep it in place for the sake of empowering women at the expense of ironically discriminating against another diverse group. It's a really odd situation where two opposing extremes want the same thing for different reasons.

Either way, it's an outdated oppressive set of standards that really has no place in modern America. Many gay and bisexual men have also been persecuted under those biased rules because it targets men, period, no distinction. A man doesn't have to date or cohabitate with a woman to be a target for said discrimination. He just has to be male and lack the affluence to defend himself against false charges. It's not that all women are innately eager to exploit those biased policies. It's that toxic women can in the US. Talks of gender equality lose merit when stuff like that is allowed to persist at institutional levels.

"Latinx" failed as a term.

It just seemed like the sales pitch for it was poorly thought out for multiple reasons. I'm not surprised more than a few people were indifferent or against the term. It's like they're weren't consulted, but instead straight up told to use it by a pushy fringe desperate to have it be the new norm.

Influencing consumers by telling them they need a product is a viable method of promoting sales and getting them to standardize it, but only works if you can convince the consumer they actually need it. There wasn't a majority need for "latinx". There were literally valid reasons against it...

Idk. I'm a caregiver

Depends on typical tasks for your position.

Nursing assistants are basically blue collar (whether or not people want to admit it). And that's not something to be ashamed of; not everyone is fit for that work. Hard working CNAs are doing a considerable amount of routine physical labor assisting patients in their daily needs. Some registered nurses do too as a requirement of certain treatments. Hands-on care is very physical and involves a lot of lifting.

A nurse that basically sits behind a desk all day doing administrative work would be white collar, with physical labor being minimal. Doesn't matter if they lift a heavy box of paper once a day, it's still white collar.

That physical aspect of the job is the difference.

The "meta" part of the Velma show is that it was made to fail lol. It's pretty obvious the showrunners either HATE the Scooby Doo IP or want to use it as controversy fodder.

That's the twist.
That's why Warner Bros said they refused to include the iconic dog in the mix.
They don't want the most marketable character associated with an orchestrated trainwreck. Everyone else is free game.

If you're upset at the ridiculous writing and blatant sabotage of trademark characters, stop taking it seriously. You're getting played. The trolling within the writing was intentional. It doesn't have to make sense to you why. Just know that's what it is.

When you stop looking at it like some activist celeb trying to "woke-ify" a childhood series and more like a deliberate attempt to crap all over a classic IP to stir up attention, it ironically starts making clearer sense lmao. Don't worry. No matter how hated this gets, it won't destroy the franchise. It's Velma, not Scooby Doo. And the WB execs know that. It's why it got greenlit.

I'll give it time until like next update, but it's feeling like there's less content for me as a casual player to do in Dragonflight than there was in first half of Shadowlands.

I only do mythic runs with friends and it's not an every day thing. Mythic pugs feel too toxic. The timer kills the fun for me. Friends compensate for that because they have patience. The average mythic pug does not. I don't care about raiding; the prep and group coordination is too much for me. Some of the guilds I've been in basically expected me to kiss the guild leader's ass to get into practice raids. No thanks. I just want to log in once in a while and spam dailies and sometimes pvp. Legion, BFA and Shadowlands managed to hit that spot for me. If they return to dailies in Dragonflight I'll stay interested. Otherwise I think I'll bounce. I'll miss my paladin, druid, and monk, but other games have funner classes now.

Single life in the west is pretty cushy for both women and men who aren't obsessed about sex.

Also single =/= celibate.

When someone says they've been "single for months ", that doesn't necessarily mean they've been bone dry all that time.

Like I can respect the old fashioned idea of marriage for people into it, but it's got stiff competition today. It's become the less popular choice in the west as far as sex and getting your relationship urges met. Youth are growing up now getting a lot of their immediate relationship needs at least partially fulfilled without matrimony. And for a lot of people that's more than enough. Raising a family is one of the few competitive prospects of the marriage package and not everyone successful and privileged values doing that when they're already living the high life with less restrictions.

I'm really not surprised marriage rates in the US have been on steady decline when divorce rates are over 50%. That's not a great sales pitch...

Seems like they took the "less is more" approach to marketing this film and I'm surprised they still wanted anyone to watch it.

And boo on Eichner for whining about homophobia when there was barely any effort to market the film besides looking progressive. That's a weak reason for consumers to pay money for what's supposed to be entertainment. Okay it's progressive....what else is appealing about it? We don't really know because they didn't show much of it. Some people didn't even know the movie existed because of the weak ass marketing.
