I do this too, and I also look for voice actors when they show up in live action TV/movies.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon is a pretty good starting point for the reasons already mentioned.

If you're talking about the older games, Y0 is probably the best starting point. The remakes of 1&2 were made with the events of 0 in mind.

My favorite bit of localization is in a substory in I think Y0 where an NPC is just named "That Guy" and another NPC that comes up is just "That Guy's Friend."

The dub is fantastic. Judgement had a great dub too but with Y7 they took the time to change the mouth movements to match the dub.

And they nabbed George Takei so that's fun.

The Yakuza localization team is fantastic and they're really good at stuff like that.

We are talking about games where the "story" is told through lore on a loading screen. And people who are blindly followers of the company think these games are the best ever written lol

Also she's pushing 50 in DMC5 and still looks great.

Tifa's face is designed to appeal to Eastern audiences, and Aerith's is for Western audiences.

Aerith is great in FF7R but Tifa is still better.

Jake's final boss is the most metal thing in the franchise so far so there's that.

Mechagodzilla is briefly seen at 4 seconds and the plans for it are behind the character at 1:42.

Guessing the 'Zilla we see Kong fighting might just be Mechagodzilla wearing a flesh suit. Or it's Godzilla himself and he's just pissy the humans are being stupid and making kaiju robots.

While I agreed that most of the ones just putting him in random spots are kind of lazy, I still love this one.

He talks in literally one scene, and he says a reference to the big dumb comics. It's literally the big guts line. It's maybe five lines total.

You don't get any better than that.

Eternal's story is even funnier, dumber, and more over the top than 2016's while embracing Doom lore throughout the entire series so if that's your metric you should like that one more.

The platforming is pretty great and the combat is significantly better than 2016. More tools, faster movement speed, you could slap a style meter on it and it'd basically be a FPS DMC game.

RE7 also had a DLC where you're a swamp hillbilly who punches mold zombies and crocodiles with power gloves so that's hard to top in terms of camp.

Demo's super short and basic but seems interesting enough.

Re:Verse would be so much better if it was just Mercenaries but everyone one is here.

Game is a solid 8/10. Decently fun combat, light metroidvania elements, and a pretty good story set in a timeframe that's not been super explored yet.

YMMV on the art style shift but it still looks good.

It 100% feels better to play than 2016 though. So much faster and you have way more tools.

That's less on the voice acting and more on the voice direction.

NBA2K15 and Chaos Wars are the top two worst IMO. One made the mistake of getting the players to voice act themselves and the other I'm pretty sure hired family members of the publishing team.

I'll be that guy here, because I feel obligated to mention this every time the Water Temple is mentioned.

I did it on my first time playing OoT without the blue tunic because I forgot to bring blue fire out of the Ice Cavern, was too lazy to go back, and didn't have the rupees to buy the thing. Made the Temple way more fun, at least for me, as every underwater trip was under a time limit.

As far as I know the OoT Water Temple thing is a myth, you can't get permanently stuck there.

Not sure about FF7.

Both are reminders of past traumas for Wanda; the Stark weapon that set her and her brother on their path, and Strucker/Hydra's experiments granting them their powers. If that's the theme I could see the next one being Ultron related or tied to Pietro's death.

8 sideways is an infinity sign. Also at the end of the credits their wedding *rings* are shown connected, like an infinity sign.

That's about as much I can speculate about 8.
