You ever play a game and its soundtrack is on your mind like every other day? That how I feel about FF7R music

Shit is AMAZING!

I managed the cabin fight in my 1st attempt, but used up nearly all the healing I had. Was very fun

Also I got the riot gun, fired it once into a enemy, killing 2, and fell in love. Sold the old shotty immediately.

Mendez was neat, but that phase 2 was kinda obnoxious

Its really fun to play and try out different jobs

Right now im running Red9, Bolt Rifle, Shotgun, and SMG.

Im hearing bad things about village shotgun and SMG, so im skipping on upgrading them, plus the shotgun does kinda suck. Nothing more than big damage instead of good damage and crowd control.

So far the hardest parts has been valley fight/looting, plagas dogs, and el gigante

On hardcore.

I keep trying to play it like OG, and I get fucked up because of it.

I don't think I've gone thu a single encounter without hitting the danger zone. Now Ashley is with me...

Watched and finished Tomo-Chan is a Girl. It was p good.

Sitting at a 6 or 7/10

COVID slowed down a lot of stuff, and theres not as many exciting games coming out as often.

For reference I think 2017 and 18 were 10/10.

We got like 5 years worth and amazing games in the span of 20 months

Then I'd drop it for a year or 2 and start over

Red shells were virtually useless on this version of Rainbow Road

Neat version, but I didn't like it as much as the original

Took like 100+ hours. I really enjoyed it, especially the beginning. Might be my Game of the Year, but that's gonna depend on FF16 and REemake4

Minor Pros
- I like all the main characters, and there aren't any Heroes I dislike
- Exploration is enjoyable. There's a lot less empty space and reaching areas and finding stuff remained good throughout the whole game
- The game, locales and characters look good in motion
- Less fetch quests, and less generic quests in general

Major Pros
- Lot of Class Options, most of them are good and fun to play
- Eunie and Riku are the best
- I liked pretty much every Hero/Ascension Quest, except maybe 2
- 1st 3 chapters are amazing. Actually better than Xeno 1s
- All the major boss fights are fun as hell
- Soundtrack is amazing, I like it a bit more than Xeno 1 soundtrack.
- LOVE the use of flutes in this game. Love the main theme

Minor Cons
- Juniper is a cool character, but their Hero Quest came on too strong at the time, and the Stalker class sucks/ was disappointing.
- Despite it being enjoyable exploring on foot, They should have put in a Levnis you can drive around in, like the ship. Also the ship was disappointing cuz you can't fight on it.
- Chain attacks eat up a lot of time
- Status effects vs enemies feel weak, especially Daze.
- Locking the level down feature behind game completion is dumb, but at least I managed very well
- Im greedy, I wish you could have 2 heroes on your team, one Kevesi, one Agnian.
- The Weight of Life does not play often enough

Major Cons
- Pretty much all the Consuls/Mobius (Excluding T, M, N) are one-note, and lame. Reminds me of Tales of Arise
- The menu song, while good, cuts into every field song, and brings the soundtrack down cuz the other songs can't shine as much. This also can apply to the Chain attack theme. It's a shame that issue is prevalent in all the Xeno games I've played.
- The Story pacing and beats is pretty good for the 1st 3 chapters, but 4 and beyond aren't as good as I had hoped. Combined with bad villain's, the game peaks early

- I feel like the ally AI is pretty poor in this game, at least compared to X1. With 6 AI party members, wish there were some AI options or Team strategy beyond what they give you.
- The game does pretty well at worldbuilding, but I feel a lot of important stuff is never mentioned. Made the ending feel a little...rushed.

Overall Score: 8.5

I loved the game but it did start falling earlier than expected and never quite got back to the first few chapters levels. Pretty much everything was a 10/10 at the start, then it hovered around a 7/10 with the occasional good story beat.

For comparison. Xenoblade is a 9/10, great from start to finish, and one of the most consistent jrpgs I've played.
Xenoblade X is a 8.5, based sorely off soundtrack and gameplay/exploration alone. Story and characters mostly suck, tho.

Favorite Classes: Full Metal Jaguar, Zephyr, Troubadour
Least Favorite Classes: Stalker, Tactician, Lone Vanguard

That feeling where you had a good run through Sonic 2, all the way to Death Egg, and Metal Sonic is just eating away your lives and continues cuz you haven't figured out how to beat him cleanly.

Then in the rare chance you do beat him, Eggman fucks you up immediately

Finished Chapter 2. Lotta mechanics introduced

Was not expecting a 3-Phase fight at the end of the chapter, but it was fucking awesome. When *THAT* song kicked in, ooh boy, shit was hype. Its been on my mind ever since they revealed it.

Im playing on Normal and so far its been pretty balanced.

I'm about five hours in and really enjoying myself. Made it to chapter 2

My only complaints so far are

- No marker for enemy detection type. Unless I've fought a enemy before I won't know how it aggros unless I cross it.

- The targeting arrow is pretty small, and for me, gets lost in the fight. The arrow tends to get lost with non-aggroed/ far away enemies during, and targeting being automatic outside of combat is annoying.

I think the targeting system sucks so far, seems very inconsistent

- This isn't much of a complaint, but might only be tied to Noah's Swordmaster class and/ or time based cooldowns; Upon switching to Eunie and Mio, the game immediately got more fun since it was more involved

Usually I wait a while before playing a JRPG.

I kinda like when a JRPG is figured out, and there is readily available information. I bought Xenoblade X on launch day and while I eventually loved it, that first month was very rough, and I was scrambling to get anything meaningful done.

I remember being disappointed that it was simply a upgrade to the regular Ninja Gaiden, but I quickly grew to love the additional content, and the game overall

I hope the island is shorter and the village as long as the Castle

I didn't really didn't play anything too new this year, mainly just older Sonic games

God of War Ragnarok looks great, get that one

Ok I beat it, nice game, the gameplay grew on me in time

+ Level themes are great and varied
+ Top 5 Sonic Soundtrack, Planet Wisp being the highlight
+ The Spikes and Drill Wisps are the most fun
+ All levels are good except Starlight Carnival

- Sonic Unleashed had better controls. The jump felt weird at times, the drift is kinda unimportant and is def tacked on, and the homing attack often clashes with the need to double jump. Also don't know why they changed the quick step.

- Probably some of worst dialogue in the series. Sonic has never been huge on story/ dialogue but damn.
- Repeated bosses and they all suck
- Starlight Carnival is boring and very automated. At least Terminal Velocity is pretty much 1 level and boss

I played a lot of Sonic games this year. Not sure if I want to start Frontiers this year or next
