Anything below 45 is not really a suited connector. Suited connectors are called this way because they can make flushes but also because they have the maximum amount of straight possibilities. Anything below 45 does not have the maximum amount. Once you get down to 23 you only have 2 straights possible using both your hands as opposed to 4 in a traditional suited connector like 67.

Depends on how the deck is being shuffled and how many players are left and tbh what the hands have been looking like. Also depends on whether they got a peek at someone else's cards. For example, if I see that my 4 opponents all drew Ace, King. Same hand, all four of them, then actually, haha.... My 3,4 is looking pretty hot. Idk about all-in tho. If they hit a straight or kick with high card, I'm toast.

If you're playing live, tournaments are -EV. They take around 20-25% of the prize pool which is far too much. The exceptions are if you're in higher stakes tournaments. If you're paying $150 for a live tournament you're losing money. Online they only take 10% I believe which allows you to make a profit.

But thats not nearly as fun as playing in person. And I like to see peoples faces and socialize and stuff. Its really not just about the money for me, I like playing poker with people. And the tournaments limit my losses because I know going in if I lose Im only going to lose however much it cost to enter.

You made the right play though. It should be a fold there. If you cant include light squeezes in the 3 betters range 8s is a fold all day. I think the only time it wouldnt be is if the 3b can be made light and you are deep enough to 4b.

I hate tournaments because so much of the play is dictated by stack size.

The play is always dictated by stack size, whether its tournament stacks or the stacks in your wallet.

like, probably not every hand, but pretty much every hand.

I had a decent stack and was on the button, early position raised all in (about half my stack) and then the guy before me reraised all in which had me covered. So I knew I was against two monsters. I made the decision to fold because I thought I was behind. And I was kinda right.

first raiser had pocket nines, second raiser had pocket 3s. Id have won the side pot, and the eight came on the river, Id have won the whole thing with the river. But I played defense and folded.

Its alright, I was happy with how I played. There is only one hand on the day I regret not playing, but it would have put me all in with pocket 8s and I was too scared. Should have pulled the trigger Id still be there right now.

I haven't played in a tournament in a long time that doesn't have BB ante, that place needs to get with the times.

They only do it on the Saturday tournaments, otherwise no antes at all and just bb sb

Ive been playing cash games for about 10 years, tournaments for the last 2 or 3.

I read a theory of poker book about a year and a half ago and thats when my mind was finally like ooooohhhhhhh THATS what I was doing wrong and Ive just been getting better and better since then.
