#19 | Yeah, subscribers would have topped out at 285k, almost entirely off of the back of Twitch Primes subs, which have to be manually renewed monthly for whichever streamer you'd like to use it on. I don't think this will end up being a smart move, but I can see why he might feel compelled to do it, especially if he isn't willing to treat streaming as a full-time job anymore, which you effectively need to do to achieve anything like a consistent income. It can be lucrative, but viewers (and people willing to subscribe to you) are notoriously fickle if you aren't keeping to a regular streaming schedule. It sounds like Ninja's core subscription i.e. people on rolling subscriptions, was a very small slice of the overall pie and more in line with other popular streamers. If you've been at the crest of the wave, as he as, I can understand taking a punt elsewhere if you don't think figures are going to return that way (and he'd be right, they won't). I just don't think Mixer is the answer either. --- |
