That is true, although Im not sure referencing how relatively recent it was enacted should be a point of consideration. The US is a young country, when compared to almost all others. All celebrations, especially those recognized since 1776, would be recent.

Those religious people do not want anyone to kill what they perceive to be an unborn child. That does not have anything to do with universal healthcare. Your best argument is to hammer them on why they do not want to give money to the child after its born, although Im sure some do through charity. By tying this to universal healthcare, youre implying that these pro-lifers are interested in your life, which Im not convinced they would think has much value.
