If you are not interested in preserving a Union, then go ahead and let them leave or falter. It really doesnt matter what they said that bothers you. Hell, Lincoln even proved that it doesnt matter what they vote for, considering he marched Union (i.e. federal) troops to force the secession states not to leave.

Consider this: remember when people were pissed off recently at Trump for talking shit about not helping states that were blue? They were right to be upset. Be careful of weaponizing federal aid against American citizens.

They can use reasonable force to maintain order. I put it in quotes because teachers who touch students are taking a big risk in having their actions scrutinized and seen as excessive. Admin and parents are often notorious for not backing teachers, so I say good luck to any teacher who actually intervenes and doesnt call for help instead. To be fair, there are states that apparently allow corporal punishment and Im not sure where they draw the line on that.

Id be careful of equating difficult with miserable. Something can be difficult, but still very much worth the effort and even enjoyable.

Anecdotally, I know many Sailors and Airmen who loved their time in the service, but they also got enough training or education via the military to pursue other career options. They also travelled quite a bit through change of station and deployments, so they decided to buy a house and settle their families there.

Nope, teachers can not really do shit nowadays.

Theyve been defanged. Theyre instructed to call security (maybe a school aide) or admin to handle altercations. Its not like any of them get officially trained in submissions. If they touch a student, they risk being sued, fired or worse. There might be a few exceptions, like one-to-one aides who support special needs students. Those arent teachers, though.

Parents and other voters wanted this, so talk to them about it.
