Riley Reid has been inundated with online abuse since tying the knot this month. The adult star was attacked by trolls after getting married to Latvian freerunner Pasha Petkuns in a lavish ceremony in Los Angeles, California. On Twitter, commenters shamed the 30-year-old for working in the adult entertainment industry. One keyboard warrior tweeted: No way someone married Riley Reid. Another sent an Instagram message to Pasha that reads: Why the f*** would you marry someone like her. And a third cruel critic sneered at the adult entertainer's partner by commenting: You married a porn star? Momma must be proud.

Riley is likely to be delighted to have found a husband after previously worrying she wouldn't be able to settle down due to her career in porn. Last year, the Florida-born star told Instagram: Never have I ever had a boyfriend who was proud of my job. Ive had two normal boyfriends in my adult life, normal being they dont do porn. Both of which ended in an ultimatum, porn or them. I always chose porn. Ive struggled with that choice though, wondering if Ive made the right decision. Riley added: I worry that maybe I lost my chance at love and happiness. Knowing I carry the weight of shame around me I find it hard to believe that some day someone will accept me and love me for all of me. But I can hope. Thankfully, the adult stars fears werent realised. She has found a man who is supportive of her career in porn and is now excited for the next chapter in her life.

https://www.cleveland.com/open/2021/07/gov-mike-dewine-signs-bill-banning-colleges-schools-from-requiring-coronavirus-vaccines.html

Gov. Mike DeWine signed a bill Wednesday afternoon that prohibits K-12 schools and public colleges from requiring the coronavirus vaccine. House Bill 244 started as a bill to help military children transition to school when they move to and from Ohio. Then, in the flurry of the final days of June before lawmakers went on summer recess, the bill was amended to prohibit schools, universities and other public entitles from requiring vaccines that havent been fully approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. Currently, the Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson coronavirus shots are authorized under emergency use. Pfizer filed papers with the federal agency in May, requesting full approval and Moderna made the same request for its shot June 1, according to CNBC. The vaccination ban will affect Cleveland State University, which is requiring all students living in a residence hall in the summer and fall semesters to be vaccinated, unless exempt for a medical or religious reason. A university spokesman previously said that if DeWine signs the bill, the school would adjust their requirement to comply with the law. Other public universities - including University of Toledo, Miami University, Ohio University, University of Akron and Kent State University - have announced coronavirus vaccines will not be required.

HB 244 was politically fraught for DeWine, a Republican who is seeking re-election next year. In the GOP primary, he faces challengers who are further to the right and have been critical of his handling of the coronavirus outbreak, saying he was sacrificing personal liberties with his public health orders. Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, DeWine urged the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to give the three vaccines full authorization. When we talk to people and hear their vaccine hesitancy, one of the main things we hear is that they tell us its still labeled an emergency -- its been approved on an emergency basis. It is past time for the FDA to take into account that hundreds of millions of people have received these vaccines, and to move (their approval status) from an emergency basis over to a regular basis, DeWine said. I would just plead with them to do that and its very, very important. Lives are frankly at stake.

https://nypost.com/2021/07/15/drunk-man-killed-by-shark-while-wading-into-sea-to-pee/

One mans day at the beach turned deadly after he was killed by a shark while wading into the surf to relieve himself. There was a lot of blood in the water, bystander Endriano Gomes told Newsflash of the horrific attack, which occurred Saturday at Piedade Beach in Jaboatao dos Guararapes, Northeastern Brazil. The victim, Marcelo Rocha Santos, 51, had reportedly been drinking with friends when nature called. He and a fellow reveler decided to head into the sea to urinate around 2 p.m., when the surf had turned tumultuous and murky, making it difficult to spot anything in the water. Despite signs warnings people to stay out of the ocean, the lifeguard on duty refrained from ordering the two men back to the beach as they were only up to their waists, Newsflash reported.

Santos stunned pal Ademir Sebastiao da Silva recalled: As the beach has no bathroom, I went into the sea to pee. I was beside him [in] the water. Thats when the shark struck biting off the unfortunate beach-goers hand and taking off a chunk of his leg. Eyewitness Gomes described the harrowing scene: It was a friend of mine who was in the sea with the person who was attacked. Suddenly, he saw the man struggling. The lifeguard was unable to stop the attack. However, shortly thereafter, Santos buddies managed to drag him back to shore where he collapsed to the beach unconscious while horrified bystanders looked on. One beach-goer even captured footage of the victim as he lay motionless in the sand. Santos was immediately rushed to a hospital in Recife, where he was pronounced dead. Meanwhile, his buddy da Silva, who was the only other person in the water at the time, escaped the incident unscathed. It could be me. It was Gods deliverance, he said. If I had been diving or lingered in the water, I could have been attacked. Its unknown what kind of shark bit Santos it is thought to be either a bull or tiger shark however, the incident took place near an area where there had been 12 prior attacks, local outlets reported. Shark attacks are reportedly common during this time of year as the heavy rains make the ocean cloudy.

TopicNASA: Wobbling moon will cause devastating worldwide flooding

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/weather/2021/07/13/moons-wobble-cause-record-number-flood-nasa/7958703002/

Thanks to a "wobble" in the moon's orbit and rising sea levels, every coast in the United States will face rapidly increasing high tides that will start "a decade of dramatic increases in flood numbers" in the 2030s. The conclusion, which was published in the Nature Climate Change journal by NASA Sea Level Change Science Team from the University of Hawaii, has to do with the moon's orbit, which takes 18.6 years to complete, according to NASA. For half of that time period, Earth's regular daily tides are suppressed with high tides at a low average and low tides happening at a higher rate. In the other half of the cycle, the opposite occurs. "High tides get higher, and low tides get lower. Global sea-level rise pushes high tides in only one direction higher. So half of the 18.6-year lunar cycle counteracts the effect of sea-level rise on high tides, and the other half increases the effect," NASA explains. The moon is in its tide-amplifying cycle right now, and there is no cause for concern of dramatic flooding given sea levels in the U.S. haven't risen much. However, when the moon returns to the tide-amplifying cycle, the seas will have had nearly a decade to rise.

"The higher seas, amplified by the lunar cycle, will cause a leap in flood numbers on almost all U.S. mainland coastlines, Hawaii, and Guam. Only far northern coastlines, including Alaskas, will be spared for another decade or longer because these land areas are rising due to long-term geological processes," NASA said Wednesday. How severe will the floods be? In 2019, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration reported more than 600 floods. By the mid-2030s, scientists expect three to four times that amount. NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said the combination of the moon's gravitation pull, which causes tides in the first place, and climate change are the reasons behind the expected flooding. "Low-lying areas near sea level are increasingly at risk and suffering due to the increased flooding, and it will only get worse, Nelson said in the statement. The study also determined some floods could happen in clusters, meaning they may last more than a month. Depending on the positioning of the moon, sun and Earth, cities may experience a flood in consecutive days or every other day.

A 911 caller says Richard Sherman drank two bottles of hard alcohol and was threatening to kill himself before he was arrested on Wednesday ... new police audio, obtained TMZ Sports, reveals. In the call, which was 4 minutes in length, a woman who ID'ed herself as Sherman's wife told dispatch the NFL star was "drunk and belligerent and threatening to kill himself." The woman was frantic -- breathing heavily and speaking quickly -- and was pleading for dispatch to send officers to her home in Washington right away. "I need officers here now!" the woman can be heard saying on the call. "He's trying to leave now. In the house, he was being aggressive. He was wrestling with my uncle. He's threatening to kill himself. He has sent text messages to people saying he's going to hang himself."

"And, he's saying that if the police show up -- please don't shoot is what I'm asking." The woman continued, "He said if the police show up, he'll try to fight them." The woman then can be heard saying she was worried that Sherman was going to leave the home ... telling dispatch, "It's Richard Sherman! Like, ma'am, this is, like, a f***ing emergency! I need officers here now!" It should be noted the 911 dispatcher appeared annoyed and frustrated multiple times with the woman on the call ... telling her at one point, "Listen to me! I'm handling this! You need to stop telling me that!" The caller eventually told the 911 dispatcher that Sherman had drank 1 bottle of vodka and 1 bottle of Hennessey ... and was concerned for everyone's safety. As we previously reported, Sherman was arrested a short time following the call ... after cops say he tried to break into his in-laws' home in Redmond, Wash. Sherman, who was booked on a domestic violence burglary charge, is still behind bars ... being held without bail.

https://nypost.com/2021/07/14/tiktok-star-boasts-he-tricked-women-into-unprotected-sex/

A 19-year-old Spanish influencer who has 26 million followers on TikTok has reportedly sparked outrage by saying he avoids using condoms by telling his sexual partners hes sterile. Naim Darrechi told local YouTuber Mostopapi that he found sex difficult with the latex contraceptive so I never use one, the BBC reported. He said that when none of his partners had gotten pregnant from unprotected sex with him, I started thinking that I had a problem. Darrechi elicited laughter from the interviewer when he added: So I tell them, Relax, Im sterile. Its true. The youngster drew condemnation from many angry women and girls on Twitter and mainstream media for his reckless comments. Im really sorry its just crazy what I said, Darrechi said on Instagram after his interview went viral. I want to apologize, really. Sometimes I dont realize the responsibility that is mine, he said. I made a comment that really is out of place and that is not right. Sometimes I say things and sometimes I exaggerate, but here its just crazy what I said, I wish it had been cut at the edit and no one would ever have heard it, Darrechi added.

Irene Montero, Spains equality minister, has asked a prosecutor to launch an investigation into the influencer. She said in a tweet that she has asked the prosecutor to find out whether Darrechi had told the truth and, if so, to identify possible victims of his deception, which would constitute sexual abuse under the countrys law. Montero noted that a new bill also defines unprotected sex without consent as an assault. To take off the condom or ejaculate during intercourse without consent is sexual abuse today and the only yes means yes law will recognize it as assault, Montero wrote, adding that to show off about such a thing in front of 26 million followers demonstrates the urgency of putting the consent issue center stage. Darrechi also sparked a social media storm in May, when he denounced abortion in a TikTok video.

https://nypost.com/2021/07/13/new-york-lawmakers-want-to-ban-chick-fil-a-from-rest-stops/

Chick-fil-A is getting skewered by a group of New York lawmakers who are looking to block the companys bid to open restaurants at state highway rest stops because of its owners anti-LGBTQ stance. The Atlanta-based fast-food chain is among a handful of restaurants that were awarded contracts by the New York State Thruway Authority to be part of a $450 million plan to renovate 27 service areas. But Chick-fil-As chief executive, Dan Cathy whose father, S. Truett Cathy, founded the $8.4 billion company in 1946 has publicly disparaged LGBTQ rights, which some legislators say should disqualify the privately owned company from opening eateries at state-run highway rest stops. Assemblyman Harry Bronson, a Rochester-area Democrat, sent a letter to Thruway Authority Executive Director Matthew Driscoll asking him to re-examine the list of approved concessions for the rest stops because of Chick-fil-As past support of anti-LGBTQ groups, according to the Auburn Citizen. Chick-fil-As foundation has given money to anti-LGBTQ organizations and supported opponents of same-sex marriage ballot initiatives, according to the report. Chick-fil-As restaurants are also closed on Sundays missing out on more than $1 billion in revenue so that its employees can go to church if they choose to.

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio also tried to ban Chick-fil-A from the city over Cathys stance. His efforts flopped and the Big Apple is now the home of the worlds largest Chick-fil-A. Chick-fil-A disputed that it currently has a political agenda, pointing to a 2019 announcement in which it pledged support to just three causes: education, homelessness and hunger. Chick-fil-A is excited about the partnership and the opportunity to further serve the residents of New York, the company said in a statement. We want to be clear that Chick-fil-A does not have a political or social agenda, and we welcome everyone in our restaurants. Assembly member Linda Rosenthal (D-Manhattan) also said in a statement, Bigotry and discrimination are not New York state values. New York state has long worked to advance LGBTQ+ rights, but inviting a restaurant that is committed to blocking equality to open on state property will undermine our continuing efforts toward true equality.

https://nypost.com/2021/07/13/texas-gov-abbott-vows-to-have-missing-dem-lawmakers-arrested/

Gov. Greg Abbott vowed to arrest the Democratic lawmakers who fled a special session in order to block Republican-backed election reform bills. Isnt this the most un-Texan thing youve ever heard Texans running from a fight? Theyre quitters, Abbott, a Republican, said on Fox News The Ingraham Angle on Monday evening. Once they step back into the state they will be arrested and brought back to the Capitol and we will be conducting business, the governor pledged. Roughly 60 Democratic members of the Texas House of Representatives traveled via two chartered flights to Washington, DC, on Monday to press Congress and the Biden administration to pass federal voting rights legislation. The absence of the lawmakers means the House lacks a quorum and is unable to vote on any legislation. Its the second time Democrats acted to deprive the House a quorum. They walked out of the chamber in the final hours of the regular legislative session on May 30 just hours before an expected vote on the election legislation. Abbott said he will call for another special legislative session just as he did in May. We have special sessions that last 30 days, Abbott said. And the governor calls them, and I will continue calling special session after special session because over time it is going to continue until they step up to vote.

Under House rules, the chamber can vote to lock the doors to prevent lawmakers from leaving and order law enforcement officials to track down and arrest any members who already fled, the Texas Tribune reported. Republicans say the voting measures ending 24-hour polling places, banning ballot drop boxes, and empowering partisan poll watchers are designed to ensure the integrity of the vote by preventing voter fraud. Democrats say the Republican plan is to hamper the voting process.

https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2021-07-12/california-k-12-students-mask-rules

California K-12 students who refuse to wear masks inside school classrooms and buildings, as required under new state rules, will be prohibited from entering their campus, and another form of education will be provided to them, according to new regulations the state released Monday. Exceptions will be made for students with special health needs or disabilities. The state rules build on recommendations released Friday by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which provide flexibility to states and school districts. Under the federal recommendations, for example, a school could allow vaccinated students to attend classes without masks. California is choosing to take a more strict and uniform approach, which also is possible under the federal framework.

According to the most recently collected data, 99% of responding school districts have reported that they will reopen fully for in-person instruction by the fall of 2021. That seems to be a safe course for ensuring that every student can come back to school in the fall, said state Supt. of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, who has reviewed the state health rules. I certainly see the logic of it. Masks could be especially helpful in schools where physical distancing is more difficult, he added. That makes it more tenable that everyone can come back and everyone can be safe, Thurmond said. So I see this as a commonsense measure of promoting safety, but giving everyone the ability to get back. Theres also the practical fact that there are students who cannot be vaccinated yet, he said. Only those 12 and older are currently eligible to be vaccinated. In addition, many students 12 and older, although eligible, have not been inoculated.

https://www.yahoo.com/now/stephen-smith-shohei-ohtani-dont-183706596.html

A tremendous first half has transformed Shohei Ohtani of the Los Angeles Angels into a superstar. Between leading the majors in home runs (33) and posting a 3.49 ERA on the mound, Ohtani is baseball's most successful two-way player in decades, perhaps a century. And he will be a heavy presence in Tuesday's Major League Baseball All-Star Game after being voted the American League's starting designated hitter and, on Monday, announced as the AL's starting pitcher. But he can't be the face of baseball, says ESPN's Stephen A. Smith. Not because of any shortcomings on the field but because he prefers to normally speak to the media through an interpreter, translating his native Japanese to English. While not fluent, Ohtani can speak English, and he also knows Spanish. "The fact that you got a foreign player that doesn't speak English, believe it or not, I think contributes to harming the game to some degree, when that's your box office appeal," Smith said during Monday's "First Take." "It needs to be somebody like Bryce Harper, Mike Trout, those guys. And unfortunately at this point in time, that's not the case."

Smith reiterated the point about Ohtani, who is 27 and moved to the United States after signing with the Angels in December 2017, a few minutes later. "When you talk about an audience gravitating to the tube, or to the ballpark, to actually watch you, I don't think it helps that the No. 1 face is a dude that needs an interpreter so you can understand what the hell he's saying, in this country," he said. "And that's what I'm trying to say." After mentioning former NBA stars Manu Ginobili and Dirk Nowitzki, Smith said: "For some reason, in Major League Baseball, you got these guys who need those interpreters, and I think that compromises the ability for them to ingratiate themselves with the American public, which is what we're really talking about."

https://www.rollingstone.com/politics/politics-news/fauci-anti-vaccine-cpac-terrifying-1195556/

Dr. Anthony Fauci said the crowds positive reaction to the dangerous anti-vaccine message emanating from the stage at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Texas this weekend was horrifying and frightening. On Sunday, CNNs Jake Tapper showed Bidens chief medical adviser a video clip from CPAC where the crowd loudly cheered while a conservative author boasted about the government having trouble reaching a higher percentile of U.S. citizens vaccinated. They were hoping, the government was hoping that they could sort of sucker 90 percent of the population into getting vaccinated. And it isnt happening, the panelist said to cheers. Currently, only 48 percent of Americans are fully vaccinated.

When asked for his reaction the nations top infectious disease expert responded with horror. Its horrifying, Fauci said. I mean, they are cheering about someone saying that its a good thing for people not to try and save their lives. I mean, if you just unpack that for a second, Jake, its almost frightening to say, Hey, guess what, we dont want you to do something to save your life. Yay! Everybody starts screaming and clapping. I just dont get that. I mean, and I dont think that anybody whos thinking clearly can get that. What is that all about? I dont understand that, Jake. https://nypost.com/2021/07/11/wada-fires-back-at-aoc-over-shacarri-richardson-dope-ban/

The World Anti-Doping Agency fired back at Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for denouncing the Olympic doping suspension of US sprinter ShaCarri Richardson as racist with the agency noting that the US has long supported the ban on weed. America has been one of the most vocal and strong advocates for including cannabinoids on the prohibited list, WADA said in a letter Saturday to Ocasio-Cortez and Rep. Jamie Raskin. WADA President Witold Banka also wrote that the US Anti-Doping Agency not the worldwide agency made the call on Richardsons suspension. While we sympathize with the circumstances of this case and applaud Ms. Richardsons accountability for accepting that the rules are in place for athletes worldwide, WADA simply plays a coordinating role in the development and publication of the prohibited list, Banka wrote. As you correctly note in your letter, the testing of Ms. Richardson and her resulting suspension were administered and adjudicated by the USADA, Banka said. WADA is not a party to that particular matter and therefore simply is not in a position to vacate the results of Ms. Richardons test in Oregon

Banka also noted that the decision on the prohibited list are not reached in a vacuum, and include plenty of input from the US. An important fact for the US Congress to know about this process is that there are more representatives from the United States advising WADA on these scientific issues than from any other nation in the world, he wrote. Last month, Ocasio-Cortez called the International Olympic Committees anti-doping policy, administered and overseen by WADA, an instrument of racist and colonial policy. The IOC should reconsider its suspension of Ms. Richardson and any athletes penalized for cannabis use, Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) wrote. She and Raskin (D-Md.) earlier this month penned a joint letter urging the USADA and WADA to reconsider banning Richardson, 21, who tested positive for TCH, a chemical found in weed, after her win at the 100-meter dash at the Oregon Olympic trials. We are also concerned that the continued prohibition of marijuana while your organizations allow recreational use of alcohol and other drugs reflects anti-drug laws and policies that have historically targeted Black and Brown communities while largely condoning drug use in white communities, the lawmakers wrote. Anti-marijuana laws have a particularly ugly history of systemic racism. Banka said the ban on cannabis and recreational drugs like cocaine and heroin has been in place since before WADA was formed in 2004. He said the policy has long been supported by countries throughout the globe, including the US, a stance reinforced at a September meeting of the groups board.

https://au.news.yahoo.com/disturbing-find-after-woman-wrongly-given-chemotherapy-two-years-050747118.html

A young woman was wrongly given chemotherapy for two years after doctors mistook a piece of medical sponge they left in her neck as her tumour returning. In an interview with Newsflash, 22-year-old Adriana Caballero said she was "diagnosed with lymphatic cancer in 2019, for which I had surgery and chemotherapy". "Then I had radiotherapy in September 2020," she said. "When they (doctors) saw the lump persisted and all the PET-CT scans said there was something in the area of the operation, I was operated on on 5th May and, after nearly two years, they removed a surgical haemostatic sponge from me. "That sponge doesn't appear in any report and its existence was unknown because it had grown a few millimetres and they decided to operate, thinking it could be the illness again." Ms Caballero intends to sue the Hospital Universitario del Henares in Coslada in Spain for malpractice and negligence.

Not only did she receive completely unnecessary treatment with all its negative side effects but she also lost her job. "It was a six-month contract and it was going to be indefinite. But when it ended, they couldn't renew it because my illness was long-term," she told Newsflash. Ms Caballero says she is not the hospital's only victim of negligence. "At Hospital del Henares, two others have lost their lives Nuria and Emilio and as a result their relatives created a Facebook page, Negligencias Hospital del Henares, to get justice," she told Newsflash. "We do not want this to happen again, we want an inspection, and, above all, we want liability."

A woman has described the terrifying moment two men spiked her friends drink and tried to take her home. TikTok star @Aili.likes.adventures told of her scary experience to stop this from happening to someone else. The young American had been out for drinks with friends at a bar when the men first approached, asking if they wanted a round, The Sun reports. When the girls said no, the men sat right next to their table and waited for them to hit the dancefloor and followed them. It wasnt really a big deal because we just told everyone who asked to dance with us that were gay and were just trying to dance with each other, Aili says in the video. But these men were kind of persistent. So by the end of the night, its just me and my friend dancing together. And the two guys from earlier come up to us and shove beers in our hands. They didnt say we bought you these drinks. They didnt say, did you want to drink? They just put them in our hands. Aili said she had a voice drop in my head pleading for her not to down the free beverage. So instead of drinking it, I put it back in his hand and I said, you drink it.

He was stunned. He literally backed away and all he could say was no. So I pushed it out again and I said, take a drink, and he said, no, I got it for you. The two fought over the drink until Aili stopped my friend from drinking, grabbed her by the arm and left, with the TikTok sensation pushing one of the men off her. Thank God, Im a strong a*s bitch, she said. As my friend went from being able to dance with me and talk to me to stumbling around, barely able to form a sentence, just like that. Urging her followers to be more cautious, she said: If something doesnt feel right its because it is not right. Her story garnered an almost instant reaction online. One user wrote: I dont know a woman who doesnt have a story like this. We shouldnt have to live in fear of strangers but until this stops being so common we have to be vigilant, said another.

https://people.com/movies/basic-instinct-director-denies-sharon-stone-claim-she-was-tricked-into-appearing-nude/

The director of Basic Instinct is speaking out after Sharon Stone, who played Catherine Tramell in the 1992 thriller, said she was tricked into taking her underwear off for the infamous crossed-legs scene. In her recently published memoir The Beauty of Living Twice, Stone, 63, alleged that a member of the movie's production told her to take her underwear off during the scene under the pretense that her private area wouldn't be visible on film. Speaking with Variety in an interview published Wednesday, director Paul Verhoeven said his "memory is radically different" from that of the actress. "That does not stand in the way and has nothing to do with the wonderful way that she portrayed Catherine Tramell. She is absolutely phenomenal," he added. "We still have a pleasant relationship and exchange text messages." Said Verhoeven, 82, "But her version is impossible. She knew exactly what we were doing." According to the Dutch filmmaker, he told Stone ahead of time that the scene "was based on a story of a woman that I knew when I was a student who did the crossing of her legs without panties regularly at parties." "When my friend told her we could see her vagina, she said, 'Of course, that's why I do it,' " Verhoeven alleged. "Then Sharon and I decided to do a similar sequence."

Stone wrote in her memoir that she was called to see the final cut of Basic Instinct "with a room full of agents and lawyers, most of whom had nothing to do with the project." "That was how I saw my vagina-shot for the first time, long after I'd been told, 'We can't see anything I just need you to remove your panties, as the white is reflecting the light, so we know you have panties on,' " she alleged. The actress continued, "Yes, there have been many points of view on this topic, but since I'm the one with the vagina, in question, let me say: The other points of view are bullshit. It was me and my parts up there." After the viewing, Stone said she slapped "Paul across the face, left, went to my car and called my lawyer, Marty Singer." Singer reportedly informed her that the movie could not be made, according to the Screen Actors Guild. "It wasn't legal to shoot up my dress in this fashion," she said. "I let Paul know of the options Marty had laid out for me. Of course, he vehemently denied that I had any choices at all. I was just an actress, just a woman; what choices could I have?" Stone recalled. "But I did have choices. So I thought and thought and I chose to allow this scene in the film. Why? Because it was correct for the film and for the character; and because, after all, I did it." The Casino actress said she felt the need "to become objective" as to why she was tricked into removing her underwear considering she worked so hard to get the part and "only this director had stood up for me."

https://www.cnn.com/2021/07/08/health/undervaccinated-clusters-covid-risk/index.html

A new data analysis identifies clusters of unvaccinated people, most of them in the southern United States, that are vulnerable to surges in Covid-19 cases and could become breeding grounds for even more deadly Covid-19 variants. The analysis by researchers at Georgetown University identified 30 clusters of counties with low vaccination rates and significant population sizes. The five most significant of those clusters are sprawled across large swaths of the southeastern United States and a smaller portion in the Midwest. he five clusters are largely in parts of eight states, starting in the east in Georgia and stretching west to Texas and north to southern Missouri. The clusters also include parts of Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma and Tennessee, and are made up of mostly smaller counties but also cities such as Montgomery, Alabama; Shreveport, Louisiana; and Amarillo, Texas.
Most of these states are currently seeing increases in Covid-19 cases.

These clusters of unvaccinated people are what is standing in the way of us putting this virus down permanently," said Dr. Jonathan Reiner, a CNN medical analyst and professor of medicine and surgery at George Washington University. The Delta variant, which now comprises more than half the cases in the United States, is the latest in a long string of Covid-19 variants that have spread more easily and in some cases caused more severe illness. That's why the clusters are so worrisome. Each time a virus spreads, it has an opportunity to learn how to mutate. "We know that if you give the virus the opportunity to circulate and replicate, you give it the opportunity to generate more variants," Dr. Anthony Fauci, President Joe Biden's chief medical adviser, told CNN. The Delta variant has learned how to evade Covid-19 vaccines to a small degree, but they still offer excellent protection against severe disease and hospitalization. The fear is that the next variant might be able to outsmart the vaccine more thoroughly, causing problems even for parts of the country that have high vaccination rates. "We've been lucky with the variants so far that they've been relatively susceptible to our vaccine, but the more you roll the dice, the more opportunities there will be for a resistant variant," Reiner said.

Fourth-generation farmer Caitlyn Loane, who posted popular TikTok clips capturing her action-packed rural lifestyle, took her own life at 19 after posting a haunting final video. Words cant describe our loss, Loanes Australia-based family said in a statement about their daughters death by suicide, the Daily Mail reported. A trailblazer for women in agriculture, the young cowgirl had worked as a livestock manager at her parents 1,400-acre (2.3-square-mile) cattle farm in Tasmania, which Loane planned to run when she was older, News.com.au reported. The country gal documented her day-to-day routine which ranged from treating sick heifers to showcasing her latest country couture to her more than 51,000 followers on TikTok.

The haunting final video before Loane died, which currently boasts over 170,000 views, depicts a photo montage of the pioneering farmers life set to a song asking, How far would you drive for the girl of your dreams? In the caption, she wrote, How about to Tasmania? Loanes family said they were devastated by the loss. She was a lovely, crazy young woman who was an invaluable member of our family, said her bereaved father, Phillip Loane. The teens mother, Richele, said her daughters smile lit up the room and that she wasnt afraid to get her hands dirty. Just this past month, Loane opened up about her agrarian career path to TasWeekend magazine during Agfest Tasmania, where the young woman was overseeing cattle judges, the Daily Mail reported. In 2018, I realized that school wasnt giving me the skills and experience I needed, so I applied to the Sunday Creek Cattle Station, in the Northern Territory, so I could gain experience and learn more, Loane said at the time. Up there the properties are huge, and they muster with helicopters and on horseback. She added, It was character building, and I had to adopt a great work ethic which I apply to my own enterprise here at home. The grief rippled out to social media with throngs of fans sending their condolences. Sad day for Tassie TikTok, wrote one crestfallen fan on Loanes moving final video montage. Your bright light will be missed. Rip. Rest in peace, beautiful. You were too good for this world, said another.

https://www.espn.com/soccer/barcelona-espbarcelona/story/4428442/barcelonas-antoine-griezmann-has-konami-contract-cancelled-after-controversial-video

Antoine Griezmann has had his contract with Konami cancelled after a controversial video emerged of him and teammate Ousmane Dembele on Barcelona's tour of Japan in 2019. Konami's decision comes just one day after Barca's main sponsor, the Japanese e-commerce company Rakuten, demanded a response from the Catalan club in relation to the video, which appears to show the players mocking Asian staff. Griezmann, who doesn't actually speak in the footage, had previously been announced as an ambassador for Yu-Gi-Oh!, a cartoon series and video game under the Konami umbrella. "Konami Digital Entertainment believes, as is the philosophy of sports, that discrimination of any kind is unacceptable," a statement from the Japanese entertainment company read. "We had announced Griezmann as our Yu-Gi-Oh! content ambassador, however in light of recent events we have decided to cancel the contract." Konami are one of Barca's official partners through the video game Pro Evolution Soccer, too, and they want to know if the club will take measures. "With regard to our eFootball PES franchise, we will be requesting FC Barcelona, as a club partner, explain the details of this case and any future action," the statement added. On Tuesday, Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani demanded a full explanation from the club as the backlash from the video continued. A source has confirmed that Griezmann has subsequently said sorry to Mikitani personally having already posted an apology on social media. The France forward wrote that he was "completely against all forms of discrimination" and he "refuted the accusations made against me and I'm sorry if I have offended any of my Japanese friends." Dembele also posted an apology, but despite regretting their actions both players protested there was no racist intent behind the video.

"It all took place in Japan, but it could have taken place anywhere on the planet and I would have used the same expression," Dembele said. "I was therefore not targeting any community. I just happened to use this type of expression with my friends regardless of their origins." In the video, Dembele says to Griezmann: "All these ugly faces, just so you can play PES, aren't you ashamed?" Griezmann's audio is muffled but he doesn't appear to say anything. He is laughing as the technicians attempt to fix a television on a tour to Japan two years ago. Seven months ago, Griezmann ended his affiliation with another Asian company, Huawei. He said there were "strong suspicions" that the Chinese tech giant had contributed to the repression of the mostly Muslim minority Uighurs.

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/07/08/japan-olympics-committee-bans-spectators-following-state-of-emergency.html

Olympics organizers are banning all spectators from the Games this year after Japan declared a state of emergency thats meant to curb a wave of new Covid-19 infections, Reuters reported Thursday. Its the latest setback for the Summer Olympics that have already been delayed for a year and racked up high costs for postponement. The state of emergency will begin July 12 and run through Aug. 22, while the Games are scheduled from July 23 to Aug. 8. Organizers had already banned international viewers from attending and set a cap on domestic viewers at 50% of capacity, or up to 10,000 people. Theres immense pressure to curb the spread of the virus at the Games, protecting both athletes and neighboring regions. More than 11,000 competitors are expected to travel to Japan to compete, along with thousands of officials and staff also set to attend. Nationwide, Japan has reported about 811,000 coronavirus cases and more than 14,800 deaths, according to data from the World Health Organization. However, the nation has faced a relatively slow rollout of the vaccine.

Only about a quarter of the population has had at least one COVID-19 shot, according to Reuters. BCUniversal, the parent company of CNBC, plans to show more than 7,000 hours of content from the Tokyo Olympics across its networks and streaming platforms. Now NBC will have to grapple with whether viewers notice the difference without spectators. Sports properties around the world adjusted during the pandemic with no fans, and often used digital seats to display some form of attendance. U.S. pro leagues including the National Football League and Major League Baseball also incorporated artificial sound in broadcasts to mimic crowd noise.

https://nypost.com/2021/07/06/espns-adrian-wojnarowski-latest-target-in-rachel-nichols-drama/

In a messy weekend at ESPN in which a video surfaced of The Jump host Rachel Nichols making disparaging comments about Maria Taylor, suggesting she got preferential treatment due to diversity, the New York Times reported in the same story that the networks NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski had called Nichols a bad teammate.
Now, some of that heat is being passed over to Woj. Are you fucking shitting me? This guy is going to call someone a bad teammate? For real? For real? Elhassan asked Le Batard, who is also a former ESPN employee and had somewhat of a public falling out of his own. Do we want to talk about the black careers that he put a foot on because he was threatened by? Do we want to talk about that? Do you wanna talk about the newsbreakers with an S of diverse backgrounds, who have rapports with players that Adrian doesnt have. That he saw as threatening because his sources are all front office people, and assistant coaches trying to move up, and maybe a video coordinator whos trying to get a better job somewhere else?

But he cant talk to LeBron, and he cant talk to Chris Paul or Damian Lillard or some of these other guys. He doesnt have that rapport with them. So what he does is he steps on them He steps on a lot of people over there. Elhassan also claimed that Wojnarowski is notorious for putting his name on other peoples work. Jemele Hill, who was also a guest on the show and is a former ESPN employee as well, suggested that both Wojnarowski and Nichols have the reputation for being ruthless. In the fallout from all the drama, Nichols has been taken off the sidelines for the NBA Finals, replaced by Malika Andrews. Her episode of The Jump on Tuesday was also cancelled. Another former ESPN talking head, Michelle Beadle, appeared to have some fun at the networks expense Tuesday, posting a laughing meme from Goodfellas.

Expectations regarding ESPN's coverage of the 2020 NBA Finals landed Rachel Nichols in hot water within her own network. Those comments, made public in a New York Times report published Sunday, have now led to a change in assignment for her at the 2021 finals. Nichols will not be the sideline reporter for the Phoenix Suns vs. Milwaukee Bucks series, ESPN announced Tuesday. Malika Andrews will assume the role, while Nichols will continue hosting her daily NBA show, "The Jump." We believe this is best decision for all concerned in order to keep the focus on the NBA Finals," ESPN said in a statement. In a video recorded last year, apparently without her knowledge, Nichols told Adam Mendelsohn a longtime LeBron James adviser that she felt Maria Taylor, who is Black, was chosen to host pre- and post-game NBA finals coverage because the network was "feeling pressure" about on-air racial diversity.

Nichols felt the job should remain under her responsibilities, as companies like ESPN started assessing and addressing longstanding diversity issues. The video recording eventually made its rounds around the company. If you need to give (Taylor) more things to do because you are feeling pressure about your crappy longtime record on diversity which, by the way, I know personally from the female side of it like, go for it," Nichols said from her Disney "bubble" hotel room to Mendelsohn in an excerpt published by the Times. "Just find it somewhere else. You are not going to find it from me or taking my thing away. Those comments created a rift inside ESPN that involved insider Adrian Wojnarowski and Jalen Rose. Nichols publicly apologized for her comments during Monday's airing of "The Jump," which she's hosted since 2016 when she returned to ESPN after a stint at CNN and Turner Sports. "The first thing they teach in journalism school is don't be the story," Nichols began the show. " ... I also don't want to let this moment pass without saying how much I respect, how much I value our colleagues here at ESPN, how deeply, deeply sorry I am for disappointing those I hurt -- particularly Maria Taylor -- and how grateful I am to be part of this outstanding team."

Pretty bad day for me. Market finally starting to care about GS corruption and market manipulation and that dragged down my portfolio. At least CRWD had a good day.

Martha Stewart is packing plenty of innuendos about the male appendage into her new Discovery+ show, Martha Gets Down and Dirty. The hilarious episode Fire Up the Wieners revolves around Stewart leading a juicy hot dog and sausage grilling session with the help of her all-male staff before devolving into a raunchy conversation best saved for after dinner. So, how many of you call wieners, wieners? the domestic diva and entrepreneurial icon teasingly asks her grilling buddies: culinary director Thomas Joseph, creative director Kevin Sharkey and gardener Ryan McCallister. The arbiter of homemaker taste and unabashed thirst-trap queen then asks point-blank how the testosterone trio refers to their own male appendage. James Beard Award-winning chef Joseph blushes crimson and attempts to stutter out an answer before McCallister fails to save the day with a limp dick admission.

Unimpressed with their small responses, Stewart keeps riding the trio of men for a better answer while dining al fresco at her sprawling Bedford, New York, estate. Thats all you can come up with is dick and penis? an incredulous Stewart says, adding that shes not a fan of the term schlong. (She reveals to her bro squad that the term was a favorite of her ex-husband: I dont like that word.) After a little prodding and squirming in their seats, the fellas bashfully admit they do drop the C-word on occasion with Sharkey declaring, I think cock is the best. OK, so dick and cock, Stewart responds, clarifying that these are not cocks while surveying her lavish grilled-meat spread. At this point the camera flashes to a close-up photo of a colorful fowl species on Big Ms estate. The caption reads: This is a cock. At least one kind of cock. Stewart goes on to reveal that shes a fan of her pal Snoop Doggs kind of wiener one smothered with Velveeta cheese, honey mustard, sauerkraut and potato chips on top. Specifically noting the big wiener inside, Stewart then locks eyes with the camera and says, Hey Snoop, this dogs for you. Another instance of size mattering occurs when Sharkey is awarded a 6-foot-long hot dog on a platter for putting together the most appetizing plate during the barbecue. Kevin, is that the biggest wiener youve ever seen? Stewart coyly asks him. While tending to some meat on the grill, a deadpan Stewart also blurts out, thats called a squirter! when one dogs juice shoots through its casing, eliciting a giggle fit from chef Joseph. The legendary powerhouse also shares a bit of feminine advice with her male audience. Men, stop touching your wieners on the grill constantly you dont have to touch them all the time, she says, sparking yet more snickers.

Rachel Nichols has apologized to fellow ESPN colleague, Maria Taylor, on national television -- this after a bombshell NYT report -- and ex-NBA stars Kendrick Perkins and Richard Jefferson were there to add their two cents. The veteran NBA anchor took a moment Monday on "The Jump" to address the Times' story from this weekend -- which shed light on drama at the sports network over the past year ... this following recorded controversial remarks Rachel made surrounding Maria, who's Black. Right off the bat, RN acknowledged she didn't like that she'd become the story ... but owned up to it nonetheless, saying she was deeply sorry to anyone she let down with her comments, especially Maria. Rachel added she was grateful to be part of the ESPN team. Perk and Rich took it from there ... with the former chiming in first, thanking Rachel for taking responsibility for her actions, and relaying to the audience that he knew her heart -- while also pointing out he'd always felt comfortable in her presence. He also shouted out Maria, whom he said was deserving of every opportunity that came her way ... and that he hoped they could all support each other going forward. RJ echoed those sentiments as well.

The response comes on the heels of surfaced audio, which depicts Rachel having a candid conversation with LeBron James' PR advisor, Adam Mendelsohn, last year during the playoffs ... during which Rachel expressed frustration that ESPN was looking to have Maria share hosting duties with her during the Finals -- something Rachel likened to a "diversity" move. The NYT reported that ESPN was doing major damage control in house in the wake of the clips leaking among employees internally.
