To be fair in New Mystery he gets completely embarrassed by Michalis so maybe the Marth plan was justified.

The games he appears in are light enough on story for it to not really matter much but he really feels more like a plot device that just kind of does whatever generic evil deed is necessary for any given scene to work than an actual character.

100% true but I give him a lot of credit for being an intimidating villain at least. The rest of the scheming evil wizards that followed just come off as cowardly little snakes that are harder to track down than to kill. Gharnef is actually a really big threat and him showing up before you have Starlight is a definite "oh shit" moment.

And then the thing I spoilered tagged happens and it takes some of that respect away, but oh well.

I liked Validar more when he was Manfroy, and Manfroy was like, the worst major villain of his own story.

Possibly a hot take but Manfroy was also better when he was Gharnef!

I have no idea which Awakening chapter Invisible Ties is, which is telling for a game I've played twice. But yeah Awakening as a whole really deserves to be on the Worst Maps list. It has some good ones but man did they love just giving you open fields to mash stat blocks together in.

Not a fan of RD final boss though -- even in just the finale I liked a couple of other bosses more.

This one I technically have an excuse for. I got to Blighttown and the frame rate went to hell and was practically unplayable. That being said, I did receive it as a gift, and my friend was really excited because he thought I would absolutely love this game. Obviously, he was a bit bummed that I didn't get very far into it before I abandoned my playthrough. On top of that, there is a remastered version of it now that (hopefully?) fixed the frame rate issues, so that means I no longer have an excuse not to finish this game.

Didn't notice any frame rate problems in the remastered version (even on the Switch) so yeah you're probably good there.

If all knowledge of the game gets wiped, then absolutely FFVII. That game would have blown my mind if I had played it without already knowing half the plot from random spoilers over the years.

Otherwise I might go with Symphony of the Night or Metroid Prime. Definitely some exploration-heavy game.

You can't use the Pokemon main characters without giving them all atleast one Pokemon. If you choose only one, why not just cut out the middleman and make it the Pokemon itself? And if you use multiple, is it going to be the starters every time?

It's not really a fair comparison.

I think I covered this under Pokemon making for more interesting movesets -- but for whatever it's worth I don't think those two options are the only ones available. For example, you could have a trainer fight kind of like Yugi in the Shounen Jump DS fighting games, such that Pokemon come out for a moment for moves but aren't directly playable:

I'll grant Pikachu - and even movie leads like Mewtwo and Lucario - but Incineroar, Pichu, etc are definitely not main characters. They were picked for being popular side characters or because they lend themselves to interesting movesets. It wasn't unreasonable to think they'd do the same with FE! But now we know better I guess.

They're never not going to pick the main character of a game/series they represent. Not sure why people ever bother talking about it otherwise. The one time they slightly deviated from this by picking Robin instead of Chrom (and Robin is as much of a main character as he is), people complained so much Chrom got in anyway.

Except Pokemon! It took until Brawl to get a main character from that, and there hasn't been another since.

AFAIK the main actual issue with nuclear is that building plants is extremely expensive (to the point where its not economically viable in a lot of places). But theres certainly no reason that we should be closing down existing plants that are still safely operating.

I actually didn't know this, thank you for the info.

But yeah as you said it's not a reason to abandon nuclear completely.
