In yet another blow to the gaming industry, VGC has reported that Embracer Group may soon be closing the Nottingham-based UK studio Free Radical Design.

The team was reformed back in 2021 to revive the classic FPS franchise Timesplitters, but it looks like that may now be under threat as a result of Embracer Group's ongoing restructuring programme.

According to people close to the studio, Free Radical Design has been subject to evaluation and the employees have now apparently been informed of the potential closure. While it's not definite at the time of writing, VGC states that several notable employees have published posts on LinkedIn to state they're looking for work, and we have been able to independently verify this.

Several studios have already been impacted by Embracer's restructuring, including the likes of Crystal Dynamics and Beamdog. Embracer had previously acquired an absurd number of studios and properties but has since fallen on hard times, particularly after its shares plunged following a failed deal worth $2 billion.

While the original Timesplitters is still to this day a PS2 exclusive, GameCube owners were able to enjoy TimeSplitters 2 and Timesplitters: Future Perfect in 2002 and 2005 respectively, with both receiving critical acclaim.
Should Free Radical Design close, it's currently unknown what might happen to the Timesplitters IP.

The end is almost here for Taiko no Tatsujin: Drum n Fun with Bandai Namco announcing that the game will soon be discontinued. It will go into effect on November 30, 2023. The news also applies worldwide North America, Europe, and Japan.

The news will not only affect the Switch eShop, but the physical version as well. Bandai Namco says it will no longer be selling the game in stores. However, if you bought it previously, it will continue to work both the physical and digital version.

Unfortunately, Bandai Namco doesnt really explain the decision. The company simply thanked fans for their support and kindly ask for your understanding in this matter. You can check out the full notice for yourself as posted on social media here.

The one good piece of news is that the Taiko no Tatsujin will still be represented on Switch. Rhythm Festival, which launched about a year ago, can still be purchased. As of now there are no plans to discontinue the game.

What genius thought making a beat 'em up with 44 levels and password system a good idea? Seriously it takes over three hours to beat the game in one sitting.

Fun fact: The Tick was made by Software Creations and was released the same year Maximum Carnage which is a much, much better game.

The kitty collision knocked the man to the ground, as shown in footage obtained by the outlet, and reportedly left him unconscious. Someone who witnessed the unusual cat attack called emergency services and the man was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The hospital found that the man sustained a cervical spinal cord injury from the feline landing on his head, reports Metro. The elderly dog walker was eventually discharged from the hospital and is recovering at home in a neck brace.

The outlet also reported that both the cat and dog involved in the incident appear to have left the bizarre event unharmed. The injured dog walker is seeking compensation for his medical bills related to the falling cat from the feline's owner. According to the Post, the cat belongs to one of the man's neighbors.

Manga creator Shji Izumi passed away due to old age on October 29 at 7:06 p.m. He was 91. His family held a funeral service.

Izumi was born in Tokyo in 1932. He launched the four-panel manga series Jan-Ken-Pon in the Asahi Shgakusei Shimbun paper in 1969. (Besides being a word play on the Japanese name for the Rock, Paper, Scissors game, Jan, Ken, and Pon are the names of the main characters, who are siblings.) Guinness World Records certified the manga as having the "most strips published for the same yonkoma manga series" with over 15,000 strips as of November 24, 2016. Izumi continued serializing the manga until this past March.
