I understand there is a bit of retconning since the prequels made it a novel technique discovered by Jinn. Just curious how it all plays out with Anakin.

Personally, I like to imagine it was Qui-Gon's spirit coming to Anakin at the very end to explain how. It would make sense.

He wouldn't have any knowledge of this, so I'm assuming in his final moments preceding death, a force ghost must have come to speak with him and explain how to do it.

When Anakin is slaughtering the Tusken Raiders.

Do you think that was just a thematic thing for the movie, or was it actually Qui-Gon's spirit lamenting Anakin's initial foray into the Dark Side?

Is Mace really considered the GOAT?

Yes. His form allowed him to flirt with the Dark Side, tapping into both sides of the Force while maintaining his foothold in the Light -- something very few Jedi could achieve. He could also detect "shatterpoints," moments in the Force that gave him a special instantaneous insight into a momentary fracture or weak point in his opponents' fighting strategy. Windu was able to feed off the darkness and rage of his adversaries, hence why he defeated Sidious.

And yes, Mace. Defeated. Sidious.

Compsognathus posted...
Maul has no business being above Kenobi. Vader is above Kenobi.

It is hard to place Luke due to lack of showings. The only opponent he regularly fought was someone actively not trying to turn him, not kill him.

Again, this ranking is based on the films.

Even though Obi-Wan "killed" Maul, there is no doubt IMO that Maul won the lightsaber duel. Obi-Wan got lucky with a surprise strike.

And Kenobi defeated Vader on Mustafar and only allowed him to win in ANH.

I think we all have those experiences, a certain piece of music that just immediately puts you in almost a trance, for whatever reason. The beauty, an ineffable nostalgic quality, etc.

For me, it's a portion from the opening soundtrack to Total Recall, from 1:39-1:55. That sixteen-second portion has struck me ever since I was a kid, I think partly due to my fascination with the film. Even as a youngster it always made me wonder: what if I'm living a dream right now? What if I was somebody else, and my memory was wiped? But even beyond that, the music just gives me a very nostalgic feeling that's hard to describe, like an alternate reality where everything is the way it's supposed to be.

The podrace scene is over 10 minutes, which doesn't sound like much but I mean that's a pretty big chunk of a movie. But it never seems that long. Pretty well paced.

I'm rewatching some scenes from TPM and I noticed that when Qui-Gon first tells the Council about Anakin, about this boy with an insane midichlorian count, possibly having been conceived by the midichlorians, maybe the chosen one, etc., Yoda looks toward Windu with an expression of "well, what do you think?" at which point Windu incredulously says "bring him before us then."

Was Yoda just getting the opinion of an equal, or did Windu hold a higher status?

For instance, in The Phantom Menace, Watto is trying to renege on the bet, because he doesn't want to give up Anakin, even though he lost the bet.

He tells Qui-Gon: "You can't have him. It wasn't a fair bet."
Qui-Gon: "Perhaps you'd like to discuss it with the Hutts? I'm sure they can settle this..."
Watto (sighing): "Take him."

The fact that Watto instantly changes his mind at the prospect of getting the Hutts involved firmly establishes the power they wield on Tatooine and across the galaxy in general.
