The first has several smaller terminals for people with only a few items; the second section has terminals with conveyors for people with lots of items. The first section was filled but I noticed a guy leaving one of the terminals in the second section, so I headed that way. There was a kiosk stand blocking my view and apparently a lady was waiting there in line and got peeved that I basically cut her and jumped into the terminal that was now open. I only had like eight items to scan and got done quick, but she came up as I was wrapping up and said "next time you might wanna wait in line, sir. You cut the line." I replied with "oh, I'm sorry about that" and I guess it came off as disingenuous because she just kinda mumbled "of course you are." I wasn't trying to be a dick, though. I was inspired to make this poll after watching a video about Kim Peek, the real-life mega-savant who inspired Rain Man. When I was young, I would try to comprehend the absence of the universe -- complete oblivion. Not sure why that was on my mind at a young age, but it was, and I suppose it's psychologically equivalent to trying to comprehend my own demise, but on a grander scale. Superficially one can say "yeah, the absence of the universe, okay, so there's nothing, duh, easy to understand." But I would seriously focus on it, close my eyes, and meditate on nothing. No space. No time. Just nothing. And sometimes I felt like I would get close, inching a bit toward understanding an unfathomable notion, something my mere mortal mind is incapable of comprehending -- but even that tiny, infinitesimal foray into grasping oblivion left me with such a profound sense of... Roger Bannister breaking the 4-minute barrier will always be a milestone, but by this point literally over a thousand runners have accomplished it. | Josiah_Is_Back 01/28/21 4:30:40 PM #1 | OK so the 401(k) is set up to where if I take out a loan, it would deduct a few bucks from each paycheck over the next few years until the loan was paid off. AFAIK, if I get fired, obviously there is no more incoming paychecks so the investment company would basically convert the remaining balance of the loan into a distribution, essentially retroactively declaring it a withdrawal, which means an additional 10% IRS fee would be charged (I guess deducted from the balance of my 401k), and I'd have to deal with the additional income tax from the loan amount now being direct income.
