| Johnbobb 02/19/21 11:59:58 PM #119 | Mr Lasastryke posted... i think the thing for me is that i tend to get super into character studies - that's why i love stuff like batman begins, logan, x-men: first class. and i think the MCU is kinda lacking in that department. like, whatever you may think of thor: ragnarok, i think we can all agree that it's nothing but pure entertainment (nor is it trying to be anything else). it's not a movie about the nuances of thor's character.I also definitely think one of the biggest issues with the MCU is just how formulaic everything tends to be. Say what you want about the Fox movies, but with stuff like Logan and Deadpool (and even less acclaimed movies like The New Mutants) they're trying to do something new. Marvel (especially Disney-owned Marvel) has been falling into a comfortable, safe, and endlessly profitable structure.
