Bryan and Styles did a match completely different in both feel and pacing to a WWE match. It was as if they both, given they had extensive experience working different styles, felt like they were going to do a New Japan style main event in WWE. The pacing and feel was different, and the match was far more cerebral than the usual WWE style and worked to look more realistic and serious, like a strategic fight for a real championship.

Nagata's a good pick, carried the promotion during a dark time when everything was done to cut him at the knees.

The ballots from active wrestlers carried him in. He just barely crossed the threshold, and he was the #1 overall vote-getter from that group

Nagatas voting was unique. He made the Hall of Fame due to finishing first among current wrestlers, who voted him in almost unanimously. He was only 24th among reporters, 17th among historians, and didnt place among former wrestlers. Its a notable induction, because even though he had a long career as a top star, he was never really a legendary star. But he was so well respected as a worker, Bryan Danielson, in fact, called Nagata the best wrestler hes ever been in the ring with, that it put him just over the threshold, with 101 votes, the exact number needed to hit 60 percent from Japan.

Kenny Omega was added to the ballot this year and already 49% voted for him (it takes 60% to get in)

CIMAs percentage went down from 33% to 24%, which seems absurd to me because this year more than ever proved his importance

C.M. Punk fell from 24% to 12%

Tetsuya Naito is only at 21% which is strange to me considering the percentage Omega got.

I think the fight I'm having the most trouble with now is this Belmont fight on the spirit board. Trevor I think? It's Shiek, Palutena, and Simon, and to top it off they throw in an Alucard assist. The most I've managed is to kill Shiek with low percents on the other two before dying.

I'm not sure TNA not existing would have particularly helped ROH out. Like they would have had better talent available like Joe and Styles, but would they have been able to make any more of a push into TV than they ended up doing pre-Sinclair sale? It's not like lack of talent was ever their problem.

So we have flynn being sentenced, and the judge presiding over it has been a darling of the fox news / breitbart folks - but he's said that flynn is arguably a traitor to this country so their faith may be misplaced. Any bets on how long until they begin pretending that the judge has been a Democrat in disguise all along?

Just checked in on how this all went down and wow that was a swerve. It almost can't be understated how disastrously that went for Flynn.

Judge point-blank made him answer whether he knew lying to the FBI was a crime (He did) and if he believed he was entrapped (He didn't.) Said he arguably sold his country out. Asked Mueller's prosecutor there if the SCO felt Flynn's actions could be charged under treason and if they considered it. (They were like "uhhhhh that's a serious question so we're hesitating to answer." Before later saying, we don't think so.) Judge stated how he disagreed with how Petraeus had gotten out of felony charges for his case (Flynn's lawyers had brought him up to compare to Flynn)

Flynn took the Judge's offer of a recess and came back to take the Judge's offer to "delay sentencing in the hopes he can point to further cooperation as credit" (Next status hearing is in March)

remember the special counsel's office recommended no jail time and this all happened.

Well the rise of streaming services and general stagnation among original TV programming is what enabled WWE to snag a lucrative TV contract. The former also helped allow WWE Network to become more profitable.

So no probably not. In fact if TNA hadn't dropped the ball by pissing off Spike they could probably be turning a profit right now too-- I'm sure they could've maintained leverage worthy ratings had they not blundered so many times. It's not like WWE's current ratings are very far above peak TNA's at all.

I meant in the sense of the health and exposure of the rest of wrestling outside of WWE

Can we look back now and blame TNA somewhat for a decade of rendering other alternatives to WWE not viable or profitable
