A lot of people were motivated and well-paid to downplay covid for political reasons. Sure, you can point to quirky coastal libs or orthodox Jewish communities, but widespread vaccine rejection is primarily a product of this conservative covid backlash.

We've been sorta conditioned to view policing as the task of stopping lawbreakers at all costs. But those costs are real, and it's worth examining whether they're always worth it.

At any rate, if Seattle police are choosing not to pursue DUI suspects, that's their own decision, and not one foisted upon them by liberal lawmakers.
The supposed justification here is that these sorts of stops are dangerous for cops because they've encountered drug users. Which is to say that they're too afraid to do the jobs they get paid to do.

What kind of move.. like even kissing she called it off? What did she say?
She gave a generic text about not feeling a romantic connection, I pressed her a bit and she said

"What it comes down to is that it didn't feel like things were escalating. There wasn't any flirty touching, let alone a real move, you know? I absolutely will take some of the blame for this, because I know about this specifically i can be a little shy/closed off. But i think the fact that neither of us really went for it was a sign for me that the physical chemistry just isn't there, and that's not something i can just talk myself into, as much as I wish I could"

In an effort to better gauge how I'm going about this dating stuff, I began tracking my numbers the last time I changed up my profile. Hinge allows you to like 8 profiles a day (unless you pay), so this is 25 days worth of doing so, from July 20th to August 14th (when I was getting frustrated and decided to just play out this experiment before making changes or adding more people)

Matches: 15. I was aiming for 5%, because that's what my estimated rate was before, so I was pleased with this.

Conversations (defined by getting at least two message replies): 12, which feels like a much better rate than previously

Women I asked on dates: 10. I was a lot more quick on the trigger with this, usually asking after 5 or so messages when I used to take about 10.

Of those 10, three unmatched me, one said she "realized she's not in a good headspace to date right now," one put off plans for like three weeks before I got tired of trying, and one flaked on me twice after we had agreed to a time and place. Which leaves...

Women I went on dates with: 4. 20% of matches was my estimated rate before, so this is good despite the above disappointment.

#1: went on two dates with her, really enjoyed them, and then she said she wasn't feeling a connection. In retrospect I think I may have come on too strong.
#2: went on one very stilted date with her and didn't hear from her again.
#3: went on a decent date with her, and we'd talked about seeing each other again, but she seemed to lose interest afterwards.
#4: I've been on five dates with her now, with a sixth hopefully on the way.

Previously, when I asked women out, I had like a 90% success rate in terms of that actually happening. So I'm thinking that I could save myself some disappointment by talking to these women longer beforehand before trying to set up a date. If a conversation fizzles out, that doesn't feel quite as harsh as getting ghosted (which honestly had never happened to me before).

Ask me anything.
