Yeah I hate how the Switch gets a free pass despite being terrible tech-wise
But well if people enjoy the mobility of it so much, what can you do

But it should be judged on a different criteria and the mobile factor is entirely the reason for that. You don't judge a Toyota Corolla for much it can tow or judge a Hummer for it's gas efficiency. They serve different purposes while being in the same larger category of "automobiles"

The Switch is extremely impressive for what it allows and it's functionality. It doesn't get a free pass, it's in a different category. If Sony or Microsoft were to copy Nintendo and make a hybrid system that can has the graphical capability of a PS4 or XONE then yes, Switch should be judged more harshly. Until then though, the Switch is an impressive piece of work.

Ports for the Switch will always be technically inferior. But with my current lifestyle I just dont have the time at home to sit and play something like I used to. Having somethig thats of comparable quality on the go allows me to game way more than I used too.

Plus, thats only in regards to ports. Their first party titles are fantastic as usual

the rocket league visual downgrade is significant from XB1 and PS4, and drastic from PC, and also it runs at 30fps

that said it's a very smooth 30fps and i am enjoying playing it while laying down

i was not expecting just how jaggy it would be, though.

Are you sure its 30? Seems like 60 to me and everything Im reading says its 60 FPS

Skyrim looks better than the PS3 and 360 versions but understandably worse than the PS4 and XONE versions. It also seems to have taken care of some of the more annoying problems such as when you fast travel to that one area and vampires start killing all of the merchants. That no longer happens.

Rocket League is definitely more jaggy and less visually appealing, but the game play feels the exact same and being able to bring it on the go is absolutely fantastic.

I have been so pleased with the Switch lately.

6/10. Shares a lot of my taste and enjoys quite a few niche games. Always pretty level headed with all of his nerdom though.

Nerdiest thing: Umm, besides spending a majority of my time playing video games, I also spent $200 to get a game tattooed on my back.

With Smash Bros specifically, I will say items usually helps. Rotating characters doesnt do much.

I think my general social circle just really sucks at video games though. My best friend is probably the only one who is pretty good at most types of games.

When I was a kid Id play Smash 64 all the time and destroy everyone with Kirby. It was fun.

But it takes being *that guy*.

If you mean being competitive, Im never competitive in this kind of setting. Its just people who keep a video game system as a novelty rather than a constant hobby are usually really really terrible at games.

I dont mean playing with a lot of gamer friends. I mean if your at a party with people who only play games casually and decide to turn on the system and play something like Mario Kart, Smash Bros and so on.

Either I decimate and nobody wants to play anymore or I play to their level and Im bored out of my mind.

Anyone else experience this? I figured most of you have.

Serious question to everyone. Have you noticed ads popping up that you have not typed into any area at all? Like things you have only spoken about in person with others. My mother in law and I were talking about how we noticed it seems like ads are popping up for things we talk about aloud. We then talked about electric fireplaces for a few minutes and look what showed up on her timeline .

We have noticed other items too by the way that arent seasonal and a bit more random so that reasoning can be ruled out. Again, none of these items or related words have been entered online in any way by us.

Mountains covered by forest for me. I love the sense of mystery and just how quiet it can get. I can be perfectly happy just finding a good rock to sit on in a forest and just chill out for a few hours.

In Pennsylvania, everyone I know (except my roommate) sets their thermostat to roughly 70. Anywhere 68-72 is normal. My roommate, otoh, doesn't believe this and thinks the heat should be set to 60 in the cold of winter, at which point I literally refuse to come out of my room because the rest of the house is so damn cold I have to put on a coat. So, because my work involves going into people's houses, I started taking pictures of other people's thermostats to prove it.

She doesn't care. She "needs it cold to sleep" so she can in turn engorge herself in about 13 blankets to "get snuggly". Never mind that she's narcoleptic and can fall asleep no matter what. Or that she gets so hot at night that she kicks all those blankets off and (supposedly) strips naked in her sleep. Sorry, no pics.

I have been reading averages of what people do in Colorado and it is way different that what I do.

They say when it is warmer out to put the AC at 78 and when it is colder to leave it at 62.

I keep it at 72 for cooling and 68 for heating depending on the season. I never realized I was so far away from what is recommended.
