I posted this in another topic. There are many ways it can be expanded on so if anyone has any suggestions let me know:

Maybe I'm giving him more credit than he deserves here, but I really feel like Trump is doing some really skilled (read: shitty for the entire American public) political maneuvering here.

First he set up Mueller by telling him to release the indictment of the 12 Russians right before the Helsinki meeting. Who gets the credit for the timing there? Mueller. Who do all the conservatives blame for trying to "screw up" Trump's meeting with Putin? Mueller. Who ordered the timing of the indictment? Trump.

Next, he's setting up the intelligence community and the Democrats by trying to claim that the Russians are going to help them win. If the Democrats don't win, then it means the intel community did a great job and that was all because of Trump's leadership. If the Democrats do win, then it's because the intel community did a shitty job/is working with the Democrats, despite Trump's leadership.

And then if the Democrats do win he can initiate sanctions against Russia and say "Look at how harsh I'm being on them, no one's ever been tougher against Russia than me".

The most frustrating part of all of this is that no one gives a shit about the truth and everyone views all this shit as annoying individual vignettes instead of looking at the feature length narrative. No one has the time, patience, or ability to parse through actual information to actually see the truth. They don't give a shit about that. Trump said something on Tuesday? That's already in the past. What he says now is what matters.

I don't think the concept of gender is what's psychologically traumatizing, I think it's the inability for society, and especially for families, to accept someone that doesn't fit "conventional gender norms". I would totally raise my child with "traditional" gender titling but if it got to a point where he or she felt that that was inappropriate and identified as another gender then I would totally 100% be on board and supportive of that.

The challenge then comes from fostering that sort of trusting environment within the family unit where your child feels close enough to you to open up about stuff like that.

Oh yeah in that case knock yourself out, it's friggin' fun. I played through it on release on the 360 and bought it on release again when it came out on PC and it is so friggin' amazing what they did with it. Unless you are hooked on third person, I super duper strongly recommend playing exclusively in first person, it is such a blast.

And as far as I know, it also included the base game. And now they do not require an initial purchase, just a subscription to play. And I didn't know if that affected the "play for free up to level 20" "trial" they had offered back when there was that upfront cost.

This is also directly reflected in the article I posted:

This change lowers the barrier to entry for World of Warcraft, which has typically required that players purchase the base game to play.

I'm not saying that there *was* a change to the "play for free" trial, merely asking if there was one.

The Battle Chest which used to include the base game and all previous expansions is no longer available for purchase in Blizzards online shop. This change appears to be permanent.

Well the first guy is someone I've known the majority of my life but we just talk online and sometimes play games together. So I don't really have a good way of finding out if he's actually OK.

The second person is also someone I've known for a long time but we hang out like two or three times a year then don't talk for a long time and then ... yeah.

Besides that I don't really have any friends. Not for lack of trying (I think), which ... maybe even makes it worse? And that actually goes back pretty far into my childhood fml.

I don't even know what to make of this honestly.

The first thing that comes to mind is that it's another attempt for Trump to "gain leverage/strengthen his position" in whatever upcoming talks/dealings he has with Putin. Even the Russian sympathizing dumbasses that think that Russia can do no wrong will not be opposed to increased sanctions or harsher measures against Russia if they think that Russia's helping support their political opposition.

But that was Trump's rationale behind the timing of the latest 12 indictments, and we saw what he did with that. He went beyond doing nothing with it, and instead bent over backwards for Putin. Either he's a completely weak asshole (entirely possible) who is afraid of actual world leaders because they realize he's only pretending to be one, or he was trying to make use of bad media reporting to further paint Mueller in a bad light.

Regardless... all of this bullshit is just further trivializing the actions of a "presidency" that is actively undermines Western democracies, causes civic discord abroad, and assassinates (politically and literally) its opponents and harshest critics.

It's a shame that American people who claim to be patriots are unable to realize that the current Russian administration (that's been in power continuously for 18 years) is not a friend to the United States, and Trump's behavior is further exacerbating that.

The tweet is the latest in a week's worth of mixed messages Trump has sent on Russia since he met with Russian President Vladimir Putin last Monday.

Trump stood next to Putin in Helsinki and cast doubt on the U.S. intelligence communitys conclusion that Russia interfered in the 2016 presidential election with the intention of helping to elect Trump. He blasted the special counsel's investigation into Russian meddling as a "witch hunt" and said Putin offered a "strong and powerful" denial.

Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats warned shortly before Trump's meeting with Putin that warning signs were "blinking red" to indicate Russia was preparing to launch another cyberattack.

Trump has regularly claimed that no president has been tougher on Russia than him, but he has drawn bipartisan criticism for his reluctance to call out Putin, particularly on the matter of election interference.

Administration officials have, in many cases, seemed to work around Trumps rhetoric. They note the administration has armed Ukrainians, bombed Syria, expelled Russian diplomats and even implemented new sanctions, to which Trump first objected.

Meanwhile, Sens. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) have co-authored a bill that would hit Russia with additional sanctions if it is found to have interfered in future elections. The senators have requested a committee vote on the legislation by early next month.

The president has also frequently told reporters that he believes improved relations with Russia would be a positive development, and said prior to departing for Europe earlier this month that he hoped Putin could someday be a friend.

At the press conference in Finland, Putin told reporters he wanted Trump to win the 2016 election.

"Switzerland cannot intervene because its airbases are closed at night and on the weekend," spokesman Laurent Savary told AFP. "It's a question of budget and staffing."

It was not always so. The Swiss air force was founded in 1914 with nine pilots. By the 1940s it was well capable of defending its neutral airspace. But in recent years military spending has decreased. Fewer jets have been bought and many of its pilots have become reservists. Now the country relies on its neighbours' military capabilities last month the Austrian air force helped police Swiss airspace during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

"The capability to provide a 24-hour response with interceptors is currently missing for financial reasons," says David Cenciotti, an Italian journalist who blogs as The Aviationist. "There are agreements with neighbouring countries Italy and France in particular that enable fighter jets from both air forces to enter Swiss airspace whenever needed to manage an aerial threat. So the risk is limited. Still, there is a residual risk. The Swiss government now wants to spend more than 2bn on 22 new Swedish-made fighter jets. The deal will be put to a referendum in May, though according to recent polls 53% of voters are against it. If it happens, it could mean a move to round-the-clock capabilities from around 2020; bad news for the pilots enjoying those long lunch breaks.

The police can (or could previously) acquire surplus military equipment for pennies on the dollar which lead to a really big increase in shit you'd normally only see overseas in combat operations being used in the US.

Also a lot of people are against certain police tactics and training (especially the whole "us vs them", "this is our city and we have to protect it from the enemy" mentality, and the idea that police are oftentimes very quick to draw their gun instead of a taser or mace).

I'm feeling this way right now because of the heat. It's 110 right now. I had to go out for a job interview but if not for that I would have just stayed on the bed. Holy shit yes the heat sucks. We were going to go to a "midsommar festival" and my wife even made cakes to take but it was so friggin' hot, and it was like an hour away, and we didn't know anyone there so we just said screw it and stayed home :|

Used to love dumb horror movies, and I just finished up one of the longest running series of bad horror movies but I don't even have any desire to start any new ones now.

I'm not sure why ex-intel people would still have clearances in the first place (unless this is even pettier than it seems and he wants to retroactively revoke clearances), but boy this sure seems like pure political pettiness!

Because even if they're not working for the federal government directly, they might be working for contractors where their clearance plays a huge role into their activity. At the very least, maintaining an active clearance gives them the opportunity to more easily pursue such jobs if they want to.

EDIT: They may not even maintain it still, but clearances are good by default for a certain amount of time from the most recent (re)investigation. John Brennan left office in 2017, for instance. If he had just renewed his clearance before then, it would still be active to this day, even though it looks like he's just a consultant for MSNBC now and he may not even use it/need it.

idk to me the running is about the scenery :\ I just can't get into it when there are a million cars driving around constantly and you're just sucking in fumes. I'm already nervous around people I don't know - it sounds cool inspiring someone to run but I also wouldn't really feel too comfortable with them coming up to me to express that to me.

I do like both of your takes on it though. Hope I'm not coming off like an unappreciative asshole here, it is nice seeing how other people interpret things/hearing why it matters to them.

when I get like that, I'd force myself outside for a quick run atthe park or jump rope in my back yard. just seeing the sky above balances me out

I gotta get out when I feel that empty. I need to see the world out & about otherwise I go in a very dark place.

I guess I could take short walks around the neighborhood. I just kind of feel uncomfortable doing something if there's no purpose behind it, like I hate going to a store unless I know specifically what I'm buying.

The running thing isn't a bad suggestion but I was so spoiled many years ago that I could run along a beautiful coastline every day and now it's just ... straight up suburbia.

My career situation feels like it's in limbo. I feel like I have a good chance at keeping it going and maintaining a steady pay check but I also feel like there's literally nothing I can do to influence it no matter how hard I try.

I feel like something that was lost at sea just floating around and now it got stuck between a couple rocks on the shore and it has nowhere to go.
