I'm watching the CNN Town Hall with the students...geez.

I once petitioned my school over No Child Left Behind -- long story short, I was made to switch classes due to a suspended student sharing my original class. I had a lot of signatures from just one day and a lot of support from my classmates, but the tone and pride with that changes so much when the teachers first find out you've come to call them on their shit. Staff doesn't play nice, either -- they call your family too to get their help at home to silence you before it goes any further. I never expected a national movement from my ordeal, but I always wondered what would have happened if I didn't just have a one-day protest and stop once the Principal called my mom and dad five times in a day...like if I took it to the superintendent I grew up with, a governor out of town, however much higher.

I say all that to say: these kids have gone eight days with so much more pressure and for that they are rock stars. Fight the system and be the change -- this is brave and special.

BLOOMBERG - Mueller Squeezes Manafort and Gates With New Tax Charges

Mueller used a new 32-count indictment in Alexandria, Virginia, to raise the legal stakes against the duo, who were initially indicted on Oct. 27 in Washington on charges of laundering millions of dollars and failing to register as foreign agents for their political consulting work over a decade in Ukraine.

The second indictment complicates the legal defense for both men and appears to signal that plea negotiations have been fruitless. Gates had been weighing a guilty plea, according to several reports. Mueller, who is investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election, has charged a total of 19 people and picked up the tempo of his public actions in recent days.

Manafort and Gates generated tens of millions of dollars in income as a result of their Ukraine work, the new indictment said. From approximately 2006 through the present, Manafort and Gates engaged in a scheme to hide income from United States authorities, while enjoying the use of the money.

This moment always felt so slimy because he went on to name all the demographics he won and said (paraphrased) "We won the young, we won the old, we won the rich, we won the poor..." and ran down the list of opposites until he broke the parret with "...we won the smartest, and we won the most loyal."

He thinks the poorly educated are the most loyal, and he thinks loyalty is opposed to being smart.

(I get that he can't just say "we won the dumbest!" but he could have hyped up the mechanics and miners out there with no college education and it would have been more reasonable to say)

Are Democrats really the party guilty of extreme labeling when the Republican President under a month ago called Democrats who didn't clap for his speech treasonous? Or how about last year when one of the President's children couldn't even see Democrats as human?

There's a difference between violence in hatred, violence in justice, and violence in competition. Glad that's been touched on.

And I celebrated when Bin Laden was taken down. Not sure what single person is a better exception for a modern American to make for being happy about one's death than him...just wouldn't want that rule to be bent much further than that.

I've been in a lot of fights growing up when people tried to push me around, and while I didn't win them all I won a lot of them.

Fighting's not a great feeling, win or lose. I know it can't feel better if it's not self-defense -- I could at least understand the argument of "he punched me first so I knocked him out," though there still a lot of negative feelings to weigh you down even in victory.
