My mother's real mom was a single-mother and she got killed in a traffic accident when my mother was 3.
So she was raised by my biological grandma's sister. She's still alive. And I've always called her grandma because she deserves it. Her husband died back in 2000 iirc. She's 77 and doing great for her age.

Grandpa from my father's side died of cancer back in 1999, grandma is still alive. She's 76 and well.

I don't follow NFL, but I'll take basketball as an example.
Everyone keeps going crazy about talented kids and their performances in NCAA game, but the truth is that like 20% of NCAA players are decent.

It has normalized over the years.

It's unbearable how bad some people are at driving.

Their bench is terrible. Among the worst in the league if we don't count tanking teams.

I'm the same about cigarettes.
Both of my parents and most of my relatives smoke.
They never did it in my vicinity when I was a kid and I was never affected by it, but it's just something that I grew to hate.
A lot of my friends smoke these days, but I never even tried. Never wanted to.
Cigarettes disgust me. I can even understand drugs, but there's literally no positive side to cigarettes.
They calm your nerves down? Well, if you didn't smoke, you wouldn't need them to calm down.
Other addictive substances at least make you feel better for a short while and I understand why people can't resist the urge. But cigarettes are just terrible.

Whenever my parents complained about finances I just told them to stop smoking. 1 pack per day for each, 60 packs a month. ffs
It's not like I was poor or was missing anything growing up, but you get the point.

Films and TV - If something's really bothering me, I can't focus on watching the TV enough.
Video games - Games that require your full attention are the best for this, mainly competitive multiplier games. Raging at people online makes you forget your problems.
Internet - eh, somewhat.
Music - somewhat.
Books - Same as TV.
Alcohol - Makes me feel better for a short period of time, but just makes thing worse overall.
Gambling - Nah, unless money is the problem and you go all in.
Pharmaceuticals - I don't take anything that would alter my behaviour. And I don't smoke, either.
Plotting revenge against your enemies - Executing it helps.

Taking long walks to think things over also helps.

MGSV is only as repetitive as you make it. Those top notch controls and mechanics in addition to the sheer breadth of content actually in the game makes it so that unless you're playing the same side ops over and over, anything that takes longer than a minute or two you can approach in radically different ways.

That's actually the problem. It was in development for 7 years and they couldn't (didn't want to) come up with any variety when it comes to gameplay. No proper, MGS style boss fights. Nothing.
Ground Zeroes was better value for the price than TPP. And there's no breadth of content.

I'm still occasionally finding new things every time I play. Yeah, it's not perfect and it clearly loses it's grip at the end and does indeed descend into monotonous faffing about without much of an ending, but with the sheer amount of fun the game gave me up until that point I'd still put it at a solid 8/10

They literally removed stuff that was shown in the trailers. Motherbase features, mainly.
Literally stripped motherbase down to bare bones, just to keep it functional.

If all you care about is listening to people on the codec babble about the meaning of war and scary modern technology or whatever, I can see not enjoying it very much, but the sheer amount of tools and the way they let you go wild and be creative about just about everything you do makes up for it unless you're a dull guy who prone crawls everywhere and tranqs everyone

Excuse me for wanting a proper ending for a series that's been around for more than 25 years at that point and always took pride in it's character and story development.
Instead they dumbed it down to some old man blabbering about vocal cord parasites and Kiefer mumbling 2 lines every 10 missions or so.
Which tools?
Look at the bloody shitgame that is Metal Gear Survive. They literally put all the base building features that were removed from V in it.

They got people with that "open world" gimmick that was popular at the time, even though MGS is like the least suited series for open world. And we got a barren wasteland with literally nothing in it.

When you compare all the great boss fights from 1-3 they managed to pull off with extremely limited hardware capabilties and compare them with V, you realize everything that's wrong with most modern game developers.

Alongside MSGV, Witcher was the most anticipated game that year.
And it puts V to shame considering the budget they had.
