healthcare workers get assaulted all the time, especially in mental health facilities, and because of attitudes like this they're expected to just deal with it.

even if this kid was in a mental health facility he'd have to be pumped full of drugs just to be controlled, apparently. nurses aren't any better equipped to deal with this violence than teachers are.

School staff aren't super human and this is the kind of behavior they're dealing with. And this isn't like 20 years ago where parents were supportive of teachers and were active in disciplining their children at home so that they were cooperative in school for teachers. The lawyer is demanding the world here.

Honestly, the background context of this makes me feel bad for everyone.

This kid was institutionalized because his mother knew he was this awful. Insurance refused to continue to cover the institution, then moved him to a halfway home, which then subsequently moved him back into the school system. The mother from what I saw tried the entire way to keep this from happening.

This feels like a failure on multiple levels here unfortunately, and I'm not sure there was a good way to fix this outside of locking the kid up...which tragically his mother was trying to do for people's safety and his benefit but it just did not get paid for.

Well Israel is not going anywhere, nobodys going to be able to le river to le sea them out of existence, so a two state solution is the only answer. But to my knowledge Palestinians reject that? So thats where were at. Just more meaningless violence and terrorist attacks for a completely lost cause. An orangutan named Rakus hit a rough patch in the summer of 2022.
Researchers heard a fight between male orangutans in the treetops of a rainforest in Sumatra, Indonesia; a day later, they spotted Rakus sporting a pink wound below his right eyelid.
A chunk of flesh about the size and shape of a puzzle piece was missing. When Rakus, who is most likely in his 30s, belted out a long call, the researchers noticed another wound inside his mouth.
Over the next several days, researchers followed Rakus at a distance and saw something so surprising they wound up reporting it in great detail in the journal Scientific Reports.
According to their study, published Thursday, Rakus was observed repeatedly chewing on the leaves of a particular liana plant over several days. The climbing vine is not a typical food for orangutans, but it is known to humans as a pain reliever.
On at least one occasion, Rakus made a paste from the chewed leaves and applied it to his face. Its the first time an animal has been seen applying medicine to a skin wound.
