She didn't lose control, that was an intentioned demonstration of her control. Control isn't just about turning off the Hulk, but turning it on as well. That's why Bruce was so confused with the "okay this is completely new territory" after his first reaction was a cocky "see?" thinking he got her angry, but as she says, she's doing it

But yeah, she isn't shown to be a "better Hulk", she just has a better handle of controlling her anger due to lifelong experience (although I wouldn't be surprised if this gets tested throughout the show, but the comedic nature also makes me doubtful). I mean Hulk's just in a real traumatic mess at this point, sure with knowledge on techniques to help but hardly the anger guru. Thankfully too because I actually do hope for a future arc for him to go nuts into Hulk form again, perhaps into the rumoured World War Hulk storyline.

And Hulk is still launching bolders into space while Jen can't give off a massive knockback with her thunderclap so yeah people arguing the scene as "anything you can do I can do better" are just silly folks embroiled in culture wars that they get set off by anything triggering around that nerve. Yeah Bruce could take her down if he wanted but this is just her wanting to go home and he's not gonna brutalize his cousin for quite reasonably not wanting to go through his isolation, knowing everything he put up with (as she listed).

I'm guessing that all of this show is leading to her embracing the Hulk side of her more because that's the best part of She-Hulk for me, is her confidence and acceptance in being the big green lady. She accepts all parts of her and doesn't sacrifice on any of them and knows the value of using it all to help people, and I kinda wish that the episode maybe tried to lean more into that? But I'm willing to be more patient with it.

Given promos that's definitely where she's headed yeah, this episode is seeming like a special case just to show her origin story and have it quickly wrapped up to now bring us to her lawyer life we all actually wanna see. Big fan of this first episode getting as through a lot of that, but also makes me wish we had a 2nd episode for that reason to give a taste of what we're really in for. Odd though that this was originally planned to be ep8.

I think the worst offender was the court room battle. I may legitimately think that is the worst thing that Marvel has put out and they should be ashamed. Titania just busting in without any preamble or explanation. No character building. Just bad lady busts in. And then over the course of like 15 seconds they give us a full fight scene, but it's actually the complete worst. Flash cuts show only half of the action, it's hard to follow. Like guys you're on Disney+ you have time to flesh this out even a little bit OR SHOW THE ENTIRE FIGHT. Why are we skipping from Titania being under debris one second and then in the middle of a jump kick the literal next second? Completely terrible and the fact that nobody stepped in to actually improve that scene is embarrassing.

Definitely odd cuts but I took this as a quick capping off of the intro ep to lead us into Jen's lawyer life. Titania's definitely not done here so there's a lot more to come. Probably again though why this could've used that 2nd episode debut follow-up.

Crys is lame yes. Kinda felt like a bit of a pointless diversion? I was expecting that part to explain the meaning of off-seeing, but it just never happened...

yeah like in XB1 I always felt like Gadolt was a bit tacked on that you don't get to feel much for him, but you feel a deeper significance to him for Sharla's character and coming to terms with her relationship with Reyn.

Crys though I just... really don't care at all bud, we've already been through characters from the party's past being reborn as Moebius... it's not a surprise that happened to you too but what do you actually have to tell about that.... nothing, I didn't care about you in the flashbacks and you've done nothing with your time as Moebius.

[xb1 & xb3ch7] Gadolt & Crys are both characters with early "deaths" that you eventually know are gonna show up used by the enemy as you learn that's a thing the enemy's doing. Both characters that the player doesn't really get to know directly but we're supposed to understand their significance through the party members they are significant to.... but Crys just feels like some guy with nothing to add, while Gadolt was the key piece of Sharla's grief since Juju was saved, and his death allowed for the passing of his torch to Reyn and it was nice, even sending him off with a surprise hero's sacrifice to protect that party. Watching it back it's even rather touching with flashbacks and A+ sorrowful backing track Once We Part Ways.

Hulk was definitely having a hard time fathoming that his experiences as the Hulk would be unique (maybe he should've had a chat with Blonsky in these 15 years... or done a check-in with The Leader)

He immediately had a picture in his head of what to expect, but he also clearly got excited to be able to share those experiences with Jen now, but it's not panning out like he thought.

The biggest point of contention though is Hulk expecting her to be an Avenger, as he got pretty fired up about how it is her duty to do so because "who's going to protect the world if it isn't people like us?" but Jen's realllllly not inclined after all the horrific shit Hulk's been through these 15 years.

But then as we see from the opening line in the office, Hulk's line about the duty that comes with power ultimately sinks in and we get the courtroom battle, really is a good, contained start-to-finish intro episode.

I'd agree that the older traditional Republican base isn't going to be interested in him but the younger R voters absolutely do, it's Yang's only substantively existing base.

Who are the Cheney supporters? They aren't from Trump's camp or anyone watching Fox News who completely revile her existence, meanwhile on the end instead with conservative Democrats and Never Trumpers she's been nothing but idolized as a literal Hero.

Imagine an actual campaign with all these options and how the media will be speaking on each candidate. Yang's a regular on Fox News, an organization that holds nothing but contempt for Cheney. Meanwhile CNN & MSNBC have been lavishing praise for Cheney for standing up to Trump and being the "traditional conservative moderate" the Chuck Todds of the world have been clamouring for, who repeatedly pull their both sides shit on Biden who they claim is too far left. Yang on the other hand just got his ass handed to him by Acosta.

Looks like N's motives were pretty much what I assumed. Didn't see the switch coming, though! I might have missed something, but I don't get why N had to slaughter the City to make M a moebius but he got to become one himself for "free." Did Z kill another settlement to get the necessary lifeforce or something? Or was it not actually needed and Z was just making him prove his loyalty? I'm also not clear on why Noah/Mio exist separate from M and N. Regarding other identities I'm guessing I know roughly who Z is. I wracked my brain for a while about who M and N's kid could be and came up empty; could be someone we haven't met, though. They implied his name was important so I'm sure it'll come up again.

Also regarding XB2 references: I was just refreshing myself on the plot and apparently I completely forgot that Vandham was a character in that game. That would have been nice to have remembered earlier...!

As for why Noah & Mio exist I believe they did describe a possibility within these scenes though I forget the word they used lmao... *looks up*... where M tells Mio that they are N & M's repentance, the embodiment of their hopes and regrets for what lives they ought to have lived. I dunno how much that's supposed to be taken literally but I had a feeling it was, what with M going on to say Mio and her friends should never have existed and the fact that they do is proof.

also yeah Shania is just nuts, and long-haired best choice for Mio & Videl

actually my own hair can relate because ever since childhood whenever it's short it curls up but as it grows out it actually does straighten as the weight becomes too much to fluff up

Surprised though I don't think we got a reaction of her actually seeing herself as She-Hulk though. Definitely a fun, light-hearted comedy show through and through which lets you just sit back and enjoy what you're getting, and I'm looking forward to next week! Wish we got a 2-ep dump for the first week though since this is a) just the She-Hulk intro and b) largely an extended version of the commercials we got.
