04:49:51 first clear 06:04:52 100%, so took about an hour 15 minutes to gather the rest up~ forgot to snag a few I could've gotten earlier and then looking up my leftover powerups got me a bit lost again for a few... namely one bomb spot in Ferenia that leads to a couple

guess I'll be targetting those 4 hour clears next, but I'll do some planning first

really enjoy nailing that final boss battle so well now, even got a melee counter off a charge attack this time

Hard Mode cleared, 59%, 04:49:51

Yeah once you got patterns down it's not too much trouble... except bug boss grr bug boss is annoying. Enemies definitely attack faster in Hard as well, the big 'ole fire room boss definitely got me a few times on the melee counter. Still though the only one of his attacks that's real hard to deal with is the Flappy Bird attack... 1 beam height opening screw off... unless you could shoot them, maybe that's doable

[ending rewards] My first clear (11:39, 61%) unlocked Gallery 01, then going back to 100% it by 14:05 gained nothing new. My Hard clear now unlocked Gallery 04 & Gallery 05

I just got grav suit on my Hard Mode play right now, it's actually not so bad! Doesn't halve the item expansions like Zero Mission does either, I think they just hit harder. The bug boss (Escue) was real pain though augh.

also since I just beat the first shielded chozo I can say the melee counter works on him too, except he doesn't even need it grappled off, just the counter itself does it

didn't have too much trouble with shinesparks outside of one in ferenia that was real tricky to pull off timing

I only realized it during the last one but I'm sure the rest of the shielded ones are the same. When they stamp their shields on the ground before doing a charge they have a little white glow. I tried to melee counter their charge which didn't work but you just have to go punch them before they do it and out comes a blue dot on their shield to pull off.

and yeah I have been confused on the controls a few times, when you have so much it's hard to remember what's bound to what during the heat of a fast-paced battle

grappling the chozo soldiers shield after melee always messed me up, having to hold ZR to grapple while shooting, not sure if I have to hold L to be aiming it, but you also have to hold the shoot button instead of just press since grapple isn't like an instant full-length shot

no problem with dashing within combat here though, I've had plenty of use all throughout the game. love dashing back from a walljump

dread beated, 11:39:09, 61% items.......... most of that time is because of my unreasonable map OCD which really ramped up after getting space jump

final boss was fun, challenging, not always sure when he's being damaged, but certainly leaves you feeling accomplished. also my jaw fucking dropped with Metroid Suit Samus omfg hell yes, sorry Sakurai you gotta come back prompto and update her Final Smash immediately

still no clue at all how to rank it, and I wouldn't really think to when I've beaten my favs so many times you can't really compare a first clear - definitely enjoying it more towards the end and it ended with a really strong impression. gonna need to go through 100%ing and another replay after gaining some familiarity with the map

got mine today and I got the morph ball (I like how late this is)

I'm glad it's really fixed my issue with Melee Counters in Samus Returns. It's no longer an essentially required way to deal with everything - or anything even, since even the enemies who like to get countered are easily kill-able with the beam. It's just a fun bonus to pull off that nets you extra energy/missiles when you do so, so maybe you'll be more conscious to use it when you're low.

map system is totally messing with my OCD tho lmao

yeah that was my idea that his role was as a distraction, with the hammers Strange could play with & Thor's spontaneous hurls of thunderbolts ignoring any sort of planning

if Watcher wanted a competent powerhouse, Captain Marvel was right there, but yeah outside of Strange/Nat/Carter who were more broadly engaged, everyone else seemed to have a very specific role to play
