Yeah, I'm not one of those people who thinks that every game needs orchestrated music, and I admit that there's something comfortably traditional about the way it sounds in a Dragon Quest game, but I really wish they had chosen to upgrade it for the overseas release again. DQ8's soundtrack was amazing orchestrated, and it just "feels" better for Dragon Quest when it's 3D like this (it would make far more sense to have the PS4 version be orchestrated and the 3DS version MIDI, to get the best of both worlds). Then again, it also doesn't help that I feel that Sugiyama has lost it, and I'm not that fond of his compositions in later games (although I do expect the more I listen to them while playing the game the more I'll like them), so at least being in higher quality would make them sound nicer.

That said, I do like that they still made some changes to the overseas release. It shows they still care and want to put effort into the localization. I'd honestly rather have orchestrated music than voice acting, but I'm still happy that they've done this. I hope they advertise it decently. I would really like to see this become the Monster Hunter World of Dragon Quest (incredibly popular game series that only has a cult following outside of Japan sells like gangbusters for it's next gen release).

Still, crazy excited though. It's been eight years since our last mainline DQ game....

Nintendo has a rule that eshop games that are also sold in retail have to be priced the same as the MSRB. Due to shipping/packaging costs, retail games are always going to be a little higher, which means Switch digital games are going to be more expensive than ones on other consoles.

Hey, I really liked the robot vs. robot fights. Those were really interesting. I found all the different moves they used against each other way more fun to watch than any kaiju battle in the series. Having all the rogue drones taken out so quickly was super disappointing. I was hoping to see an all out war.

But that's because I thought the first one was super dumb and took itself too seriously. Whereas this one was super dumb but was more cartoony and lighthearted which is what I wanted.

A note about ryuji, one of his confidant abilities super sucks, so you might want to avoid getting it.

Also, one of his final level ups can only be done on specific days, so if you do want to max it out you'll want to do so early since you have an even more limited time frame to do it.
