Just be warned they might not be anywhere near that price in five years, though they also may.

Where I live, houses that were like 200k when I graduated college are now like 600 . I probably wouldn't have really been equipped to buy right out of college anyway but I told myself "I'm gonna save up for a few years first" and that was probably a mistake, probably could've just put less down on a cheaper house and ended up with a lower mortgage overall.

I've played all these old Zelda games so much that I don't think I'd rebuy any (and maybe not even replay the ones I have) unless they were full-fledged remakes

It's true that people have a tendency to set their expectations too high, like for example when they do an indie showcase and people are like "where's pokemon?". But I think people were somewhat justified expecting a lot from this one. Knowing only that it was 50 minutes and Smash would be part of it made it sound like it would be for more major announcements

Generalized directs have always had lowlights but yeah it does seem pretty arbitrary what they decide to highlight or not. A lot of the kind of stuff they showed comes out all the time without special announcements and a lot of the stuff that's not shown is better lol

Three bedrooms, two bathrooms! I wanted a proper guest bedroom and home office space.

This is what I did too but I kinda wish I had just gone two bed; office and guest bed in one room would've sufficed. I underestimated how difficult it would be to heat this much space.

That's not meant to discourage or anything I just thought about it again after Jen brought up the extra room. Since you're in a condo it's probably not as big of an issue

I purposely avoided an HOA but it would be kinda nice to just pay money and know that you can get stuff fixed. For like a month I was so gung ho about making little home improvement tweaks for fun then as soon as I hit stuff that was closer to being an actual need I was like "man fuck this" lol

Some of it I'm not sure would be covered by an HOA anyway though

I guess that makes sense, but I need to go to the grocery more than I need to go to the gym. And I also have no idea how safe it is gym to gym, which would require me to go to them a few times to get a feel, but it's not a place you can just walk in freely like a grocery. For you I assume you already had a place you go but for me I had just wrapped up my membership at one place and was looking for a new one right when the pandemic hit.

Yep, it's a textbook example of a brain drunk on extremism.

What is it an example of when thousands of covid deaths are handwaved away because people are mad they can't eat inside a restaurant?

Here, let's see how it sounds when it's about Rush:

"Well he was 70 years old. Can't expect people to live forever"

"Big deal, people die every day from a lot of other causes too"

"How can you say it was lung cancer from smoking cigarettes when he also had a history of abusing pills? Maybe if he wanted to survive he should have taken care of himself so he wouldn't be in a risk group"

I'm not literally incapable of motivating myself but I don't think that wanting to be around other people as motivation is necessarily a bad thing. For example at work we used to have a big board for people to put personal goals on. When we started working from home I still worked on and finished my goal but it just isn't the same knowing that people could no longer walk by and read it every day, or likewise not have myself walking by and possibly gaining inspiration from what others put down.

My point is that you have a tendency to post a lot of unwanted, unhelpful advice, and this isn't the worst of it, but considering how long you've been doing it despite how often people tell you that they really don't find it useful, I don't have a lot of patience for it. Sometimes people just want to vent on the board and aren't looking for an armchair therapy session dude. Plus from you it usually comes off less as genuinely wanting to help people but instead about projecting an image that you have your life together

Like eating junk food, drinking soda, looking at my phone all the time, etc. It was easier to not do these things as much when I had to go in to work and had the prospect of having more people to judge and motivate me (plus just the general better mood of not being in a pandemic).

I feel like I had it figured out early in the pandemic, but either winter or pandemic fatigue set in and it's so difficult now. Not that I ever really loved winter but this has been the toughest by far. Hopefully things will start to look up once I can get outdoors more often

The problem is the age old "who polices the police" question, and that's why so many people feel like a complete upheaval is necessary. Even if we take little steps it's generally reliant on people acting in good faith. But we've seen like how useless body cams are. Cops can just turn them off, and if they don't do that, they can capture themselves killing someone on camera and their superiors will just ignore that and make up lies to justify it.

Strawman.

I just wish we had, among other things:
- Less militarization of police (for civilian safety plus opening up the budget for the below)
- More money into education and community outreach
- Using trained social workers for welfare checks
- Better police training and cutting white supremacists out of their ranks (this is the one I unfortunately tend to agree you can't just easily legislate away through small steps which is why a lot of people want to tear down and rebuild it completely)

It's ironic that the celebrities who say they hate the police the most are often the first ones to run crying to them if something goes wrong.

People hate the reality of what police are, not the idealized concept of policing. Like you always see the strawman "I guess they hate keeping our communities safe" but cops don't do that, or it's only safe for some at the cost of safety to others. But you don't really have an option to call the "good" police so what else are people who hate cops supposed to do?

Speaking of cops not keeping communities safe, it's always funny when they falsely relate defunding to more crime, then it turns out there wasn't any defunding anyway. It's almost like having cops doesn't actually prevent crime!
