We tried that once. All it did was concentrate poverty into the urban core.

that's because it was implemented poorly. have you ever seen "Show Me A Hero"? very interesting series about a true story where an experiment was conducted to build public housing in an upscale neighborhood. the results of that experiment were overwhelmingly positive, it's a shame that idea didn't get expanded upon.

And where is the government gonna get the money for this? Your taxes will go up and then you'll be complaining about that.

i dont complain about paying taxes, especially when those taxes go towards helping those who need it. don't make assumptions about what i'll complain about, lol.

So what happens when the landlords keep buying up all the property?

government regulation should prevent them from doing that.

Well, the number one priority for any landlord is to make a profit, not necessarily to make sure people without homes have shelter.

Because they can't make bank off of poor people, they simply won't provide them with housing.

that's where government subsidized public housing comes in, which i fully support.

"adequate regulations" is exactly why

i agree. the government should provide basic housing available to the public.

landlords should provide additional housing for those who can afford / want it

this little argument is irrelevant, let's focus on what matters. if it makes you feel better, i'll just concede you were right.

There is no real low-end housing anymore, mostly because it's mostly illegal. (see post 18)

that sounds like a problem with the government and lack of adequate regulations, but that doesn't mean landlords shouldn't exist or provide no value

Well this is a strawman if I've ever seen one.

fair. i agree everyone needs a place to live. but speaking of strawmen, how does that statement of "everyone needs a place to live" contribute to the discussion that landlords provide no value? its definitely possible to provide everyone with a place to live and having landlords, those two things are not mutually exclusive at all.

their money comes from their tenants. they make money by owning the building

right but you dont know how they got the money to buy the building in the first place. i could have earned every penny of that money by working hard. and then i decided to start my own business by buying property and renting it out.

are you people against landlords also against private ownership of business in general?

I played it maybe last year and while good, I think it is kind of over hyped actually. I played the Switch version which suffers from some optimization problems, but overall I feel the graphics are probably the weakest aspect, although I'm not sure how much of that is due to the Switch. In terms of theming however, the levels are all super unique and fairly memorable. It's not really a collect-a-thon though if you were looking for that, it's more a task-focused platformer, although there are some optional collectables, but they aren't given much focus. To me the most important aspect of a platformer is that the controls are fun and the levels are interesting, on those two fronts I would say the game is successful, so I would recommend it.

this is a good summary IMO. it's a solid platformer that entertained me from start to finish but it wasn't great or anything.

edit: did not play any DLC
