No, I'm saying that people need to be priority #1 and that the amount of people who put their weight behind animal rights while ignoring the conditions the workers suffer through need to get their priorities in line.

i hate this "argument" against being vegan so much. if i could simply change my diet to eliminate the suffering of those people, i absolutely would. but short of literally growing all of my own food, that's not a realistic option.

just because i cant put an end to human exploitation on a global scale doesn't mean i should start contributing to the pain and suffering of animals.

My biggest concern is cost and ease. My budget is awfully tight and the family pack of chicken legs I bought the other day was less than $1.50/lb and will be impossibly easy to cook (apply seasoning, put in air fryer, press button), and will supply many meals. I suppose when I inevitably go vegan Im going to have to learn some cooking skills in the process.

the main sources of vegan protein (beans, lentils, chickpeas, tofu, etc) are super cheap. the hardest part is adjusting to using them, finding new recipes and abandoning things you've spent your entire life doing.

/r/vegan is a great resource, but some folks on there are almost too extreme even for me. i've found a number of great online resources.

https://www.budgetbytes.com/ has a lot of good recipes focused on being cheap. but she tends to revisit a lot of the same flavors across her recipes, so they get sorta "samey" after a while

https://www.vegkit.com/recipes/ this is from a vegan cooking show out of Australia. i haven't tried any of these, though (i just found this)

However it would stretch my budget very thin, and I would be miserable.

huh? rice and beans are cheap as fuck. the most expensive part of my grocery trips used to be meat. and if you avoid those "fake meats", eating vegan is incredibly inexpensive.

to everyone who says "i couldn't / can't go vegan". yes, you absolutely can. you just have to try. learn to cook your own food and it's not difficult, it just takes getting used to. don't start by thinking "i am going to be vegan forever". start by being vegan for just one day. then try two in a row. then do three or four, then a week. your tastes adapt.

feel free to AMA about being vegan

if you want to know why i went vegan, it's because of this. i beg anyone who has compassion for animals to watch this video and learn what food actually costs.

dairy is the hardest thing to avoid when i dine out. so many things are cooked in butter. i can't even get rice at Indian places.

You cant eat naturally as a vegan, you need tons of supplements and/or fake food.

absolute rubbish. i take one supplement for B12 and iron. i very rarely eat those "fake meat" products. my diet now is more healthy and natural than when i was eating non-vegan products (much more processed food)

There are no racial criteria for loan forgiveness. Butbecause of the disparities in who holds student loans, the cancellation policy could have an outsize effect on Black borrowers, who shoulder a disproportionate share of the debt and frequently receive Pell Grants because of a lack of financial resources to attend college.

To each their own. I find the All Natural varieties unpleasant, the way the oil separates just... naw. Then there's always one person in the house who doesn't stir it before using so then you get extra oily peanut butter. Made even worse by the time the wife bought "all natural" in one of those squeezy bag things that you store upside down and the palm oil went and fuckin jizzed down my arm when i moved it.

fair. i find all of the chemicals and weird things they put into stuff like JIFF to maintain the texture to be unplesant. yeah, stirring a new jar can be a slight PITA, but i use it up within a week and i only need to do small stirs each day after the first one.

NoxObscuras posted...
I feel like there would be a market for it. I bought peanut butter crackers for my son, but he just eats the peanut butter and leaves the crackers. So the alternative is to just give him a bowl of peanut butter lol.

nothin wrong with a big ol' bowl of peanut butter!

Almonds are pretty bad for the environment

just wait until you see the impact cattle farming has on the environment. the way the dairy industry has convinced the public that almond milk "is bad", while still promoting their objectively worse product is insane.

compare this to other animal-based products

plant-based is much better for the environment and its not even comparable

in general, i think its common courtesy to avoid bringing "smelly" foods into enclosed areas with others. this applies to airplanes, office spaces, or anywhere else.

need to eat your meal on the plane? totally fine. but order a sub, not fish curry.

People gotta eat, and it isn't against the rules to bring food court meals on the plane.

things can 'follow the rules' but still be rude. like taking off your shoes on the plane when your feet have the stank. or ripping major farts.
