All the Blitz commands have short cut inputs you can do which is a lot easier.

It was mentioned already but yeah, Tails Adventure is my favorite game for the console.

Mega Man on Game Gear is hilarious. You can scroll the screen "camera" around by holding the jump button and the Mega Buster does a whopping 4 units of damage instead of the usual 3 like in the other games. It also has the best fight of all Toad Man hopped on crack

Sonic Triple Trouble is probably my favorite Sonic game on the Game Gear.

Streets of Rage 2 is surprisingly good and also worth checking out. Has an exclusive level and even an exclusive boss You totally fight the freakin' Predator

Ristar is also pretty good on Game Gear and it even has an exclusive level.

You should definitely check out both of the Shinobi games on Game Gear. They are legitimately very good and are sorely overlooked. Especially the second game.

The G.G. Shinobi and The G.G. Shinobi II: The Silent Fury is what they are called.
What's cool about them is you get to play as different colored Ninja and you can switch between them. They even have different powers.

Ninjin: Clash of Carrots (Switch)

I completed this game with a friend online from start to finish in different sessions.
Kinda unique for a beat em' up.

You play as Ninjin (a ninja rabbit) and Akai (a ninja fox) as you are constantly running forward attacking waves of enemies while you collect carrots that you can use to buy various weapons, shurikens, hats/masks and artifacts to enhance your abilities.

The story was silly and the game is really fun.

If you haven't already, Double Dragon Advance

As mentioned in previous posts, Astro Boy: Omega Factor is a definite must play

Mega Man Zero 1,2,3,4 would be potential must plays if you remotely liked the Mega Man X series

Hmmm, you also mentioned Game Boy/Color.
Try these out.

Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru/The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls (GB). This one is totally a must play.
Similar to Zelda except with a unique battle system.

Metal Gear: Ghost Babel (GBC) if you liked Metal Gear games. Pretty good presentation and a pretty good game that stands alone on it's own right.

Shantae (GBC). First game started here that eventually spawned a very good series.

Trip World (GB). Cute little action/platformer by Sunsoft with some nice looking sprites, a good soundtrack and you can turn into different forms.

Magical Taruruuto-kun (Mega Drive)

Developed by Game Freak and based off the Anime/Manga.

I hated the auto scroller levels where you have to jump on clouds while avoiding monkeys tossing apples at you and giraffes that can extend their necks beyond the clouds and another auto scroller level where some maniac tries to gun you down in a chopper and you have to make this one gliding jump near the end to clear. Luckily that level has a 1 up you can grab every time in case you lose a life there.

You play as Taruruuto and can attack things with a short ranged rod which can also be used to grab objects and launch at enemies. You can also cast magic that gives you temporary invincibility and screen clearing crash moves. The temporary invincibility is worth doing the most. You also have a glide jump which can be used to cross bigger gaps and fit into narrow passages.

Graphics are bright and colorful. The game was mildy challenging. It was an ok game.

Capcom Beat 'Em Up Bundle (Switch)

7 great beat em' ups in one package

Setting up Online play is pretty simple and it's great to play with friends with good connections.

One thing I dislike is I wish there was a way to switch off the ability to allow spectators. It gets a little annoying when a spectator comes in the room which puts the online game on hold for a little until they are able to spectate and even worse is when they don't stay too long and once they exit the room, the game is put on hold saying they left the room and you can resume playing again. This doesn't happen too often, though experiences may vary.

The control options are pretty good. You can even set up hot keys for the special/desperation moves and turbo if you want.
The Wallpaper settings on the sides of the screen are nice and you can turn them off, switch the filters and screen size.

You can also play the Japanese versions. You get to see Jessica in all her busty glory in the Final Fight Japanese Intro.

The Gallery section is also very nice. Some really cool artwork I have never seen before and even blueprints on when they developed the games stages and stuff. A lot of heart was put into this section.

Final Fight is a classic. Cody is my fave.

Captain Commando is solid. I like the man himself (Captain Commando) and Ginzu/Sho

The King of Dragons is cool. Different character classes and I like how you can push the magic orbs around and strike them to unleash a spell. Wizard is my favorite.

Knights of the Round is awesome. I like the Block Mechanic where if you are successful, you get brief invincibility frames that will allow you to counterattack. Feels good and rewarding. Riding horses is also pretty cool and trampling your enemies. Lancelot is my personal fave but lately I like Perceval more.

Warriors of Fate was new to me. It's based off of the Tenchi wo Karau manga. Game felt like an upgraded Knights of the Round and it had a slightly better Horse mechanic than Knights of the Round it seems. I used Subutai but I think the other characters are a lot more fun than him.

Armored Warriors was super cool. Apparently the mechs you pilot in this game were used in Cyberbots (I recognized BLODIA as one of the mechs you can use). You pilot mechs and the cool part is you can use the other parts lying around from the mechs you beat up to add them on your own mech, I used Justice (REPTOS).

Battle Circuit is the crown jewel of this collection. It was the last 2D beat em' up Capcom made in the Arcade. Cool part about this game is getting coins and using them to upgrade your character to get extra powers. I liked using Cyber Blue.

If MM3 just had some better weapons and a better final boss, it would be #1. Protoman has been the most memorable part of any of the four games thus far.

Some of the Special Weapons are ok outside of boss weaknesses.

Spark Shock is the worst weapon in the whole game. You can't even pause after you stun someone with it. Ice Slasher was so much better.

Not much to wright home about Needle Cannon. The rapid fire is kinda nice.

Search Snake can be pretty decent on stage designs that have "steps"

Magnet Missile is alright on stationary enemies like the Hammer Joes. Good if you want to hit them from below.

While Gemini Laser does drop the game's frame rate down quite a bit and it can be a little tricky to do the rebound shots, it's pretty strong. Especially against those porcupines.

Hard Knuckle is also ok. Has a bit of start up but it's very strong. Also nice that it can be controlled up or down. Though it's probably better for bosses and breaking down walls since it's pretty costly.

Top Spin can one shot a few enemies like the monkeys, the parachute guys and the porcupines. But you also gotta be careful not to use Top Spin if you get damaged during your i-frames cause there's a bug in it that will drain the weapon energy real quickly.

Shadow Blade is a poor man's Metal Blade but it does it's job well.

Shatterhand (NES)

The year is 2030. You are Steve Hermann who is a police officer from the Bronx and ends up losing his arms from members of the military renegades known as Metal Command led by General Gus Grover (who has a resemblance to M.Bison). Steve gets two cybernetic arms developed by the Law and Order Regulatory Division (L.O.R.D.). Steve is now Shatterhand and he is on a mission to defeat Metal Command.

Standard NES story stuff.

I was really happy on finally beating this one. I played this game about 3 years ago and got to the last level. I felt defeated when I couldn't beat the game and put it on the back burner.
I had an incentive to beat this game cause it was picked for Achievement of the Week over at Retro Achievements. After watching a few vids and doing a little research I prevailed!

This game is a really cool action/platformer. Aside from enemies, you can also punch down walls and projectiles/bullets to defend yourself. You can also hang onto fences to get around. You can also punch little white crates to get power ups and money to be used for special platforms to power you up, get extra lives and get a full life restore. The power ups are the Greek letters and (Alpha and Beta). If you pick up 3 of them in a certain order, you can summon a robot satellite and it has different attacks depending on what order you picked them up. My favorite combination is the Yoyobot () is projectile energy balls you shoot out that retracts like a yo-yo. You can even hang from your robot satellite and it gives you a boost to do an extra jump.

If you also pick up 3 more Alpha and Beta power ups in the same order in which you summoned your robot satellite, you can combine with it and use a really powerful robot suit that grants you a 15 seconds of invincibility and can shoot out powerful waves of energy.

Very good game.

Castle of Heart (Switch)

You play as a knight who has to rescue his beloved maiden from an evil sorcerer. The sorcerer casts a curse upon the knight and turns him into stone. The maiden's tears brought back the knight back to life before she was taken away. The knight is now a sentient stone knight.

This was an alright action/platformer. You have to constantly be on the move as your health slowly deteriorates. You can gain health back by defeating enemies that drop red crystals. You can also find red crystals in jars/crates/barrels. You can also get secondary items along the way to carry in your other arm like another melee weapon/crossbow. If your health drops low, one of your stone arms will break off that carries the secondary weapon unless you either get health back or lose your health to restart from the last checkpoint. You can get sub-weapons similar to Castlevania like knives and various different bombs. The environment can also be used to your advantage like dropping hanging objects that are hanging off the ceiling that you can cut/shoot down like lanterns/boulders/etc to drop down on enemies. You can also jump on top of enemies' backs to use them as platforms or if you want to get away cause sometimes it's usually not best to fight mobs of enemies. Collecting blue crystals can also increase your life bar. You get a full health restore when you reach a checkpoint.

In each of the levels you can find 5 Pieces of Heart which are needed to see the true ending of the game (which I got for the first time). At the end of every chapter you fight a boss. They were ok in the story but as for the fights themselves they were nothing to really write home about except for maybe the second boss cause it required some effort.

Overall, I thought this was an alright game and I didn't really find the game too hard like some of the reviewers made it out to be and I'm guessing there was a patch this game got that fixed most of the problems that this game supposedly had. Also got it for a good price when it went on sale awhile back.

Majyuuou (Super Famicom)

This was quite the game. It has been compared to Castlevania with a touch of Altered Beast.
Majyuuou translates to "King of Demons"

You are Abel who has to travel into Hell to rescue his daughter from Lucifer.

You use a 9mm Beretta to attack. You can also charge it up for a more powerful shot. You can also double jump, do a dive kick and a roll. You can also have a fairy companion with you that acts as an option (like Gradius) and to revive you. At the end of some boss fights, you can pick up a colored gem. If you wait for a little while before shooting the gem and picking it up, it changes into different colors which will allow you to transform into different demon forms. If you want, you can also decide not to ever pick up the gem and stay in human form for a more challenging game. One more thing about the forms If you play with all 3 different forms as you progress. You get a secret 4th form that is very powerful if you use the 3 other forms in one session and it also leads you to a better ending

Game was pretty solid and it even has multiple endings.

Crusader of Centy (Genesis)

This was a game that I have been meaning to check out for sometime. I almost regret not checking it out sooner given how much praise it got! A lot of people have said that this game is the Genesis' "Zelda: A Link to the Past"

It came out in 1994. Published by Atlus and developed by Nextech.

You play as a boy named Corona who turned 14 and has inherited his late father's sword to fight off monsters that threaten the human race's existence. There's a lot more to the story which I thought was pretty good.

It's an action/adventure game played in an overhead view. One of the coolest parts of the game is you get Animal friends and they bestow upon you different powers you can use.

If there's one minor thing about the game is that it's a little on the easy side and most of the bosses do not pose much of a challenge.

Overall, I think this is a great game that I feel is a must play on the Genesis and for anyone else looking for a good Action/Adventure game.

Dora the Explorer: The Search for Pirate Pig's Treasure (GBA)

My incentive for playing this game was due to the Achievement of the Week event at Retro Achievements, which was to get all the coins when collecting all the keys for Pirate Pig's Treasure. Swiper No Swiping!
It's a platformer and your main goal is to find 3 Stars to finish the end of the level. Dora can use a ball to break down barriers, water seeds with a watering can to make them grow into flower springs for you to jump on, use a flashlight to see in dark caves (it's not even that dark, it's more like a darker tint and it's easy to see without the flashlight) and use an umbrella to protect her from the rain from rain clouds. When going for a few key items, you'll encounter Swiper sometimes and have to mash the B button to stop him from swiping.

This game followed the source material really well.

METAGAL (Switch)

This game is Mega Man: Waifu Edition.

A shame there's no button configuration but it's not bad. The controls that are set are good enough.

After an intro stage, you can tackle a stage of your choice.
You can shoot, jump, dash, and use special weapons. Your special weapons recharge for a bit similar to Vile Mode from Mega Man Maverick Hunter X.

You can also find upgrades that will speed up your recovery of your special weapons, increase your firing rate for your Meta Vulcan, give you more i-frames after taking damage and increase your Meta Vulcan's firing power as well. They were pretty fun to find.

My favorite special weapon in the game is the Warp Bomb. When you fire it at an enemy, it explodes and you trade places with the enemy. I thought it was a pretty cool and innovative weapon.

A few of the level designs were kinda bad but nothing too difficult from your normal Mega Man game.

https://twitter.com/GOGZero1/status/1125148085552726017
^ I got stuck in the ceiling during a screen transition but it's one of those small bugs you might run into. I had to pause and restart the stage again. As long as you're not close to the ceiling, you'll be fine.

Game is a little on the short side (8 Levels) but it was fun while it lasted.

After you beat the game, you get a really nice unlockable You unlock the other GALS you fought in the main game: Gal. 01 Shield, Gal. 02 Dash , Gal. 03 Buster ,Gal. 04 Warp. That's some good replay value there.

METAGAL is also available on PC, PS4, Xbox One, Vita and it's on a budget price. I'd say it's worth checking out if you like anything Mega Man.

Ninja Cop Saizou (Famicom)

The Japanese version for Wrath of the Black Manta is really neat.

Game was easy enough to go through without knowing Japanese due to my prior experience with the American version.

It seemed to have a similar story except you're not rescuing your master's top student but to put a stop to the evil organization. It also has different cut scenes.

The OST for the game is pretty good. I think I almost like it more than Wrath of the Black Manta's OST. (it's still a good OST regardless)

There were a few different graphics for the enemies and the level one boss looked totally different. He also has a new attack for you to avoid.

Black Manta also has a cool high jump animation in this version.

Some of your Ninpo Arts got switched around for whatever reason but it was an easy adjustment.

It did indeed have an extra level that was left out of the American version.

There is a Boss Rush at the end of the game. In the American version you had a choice of facing any of the previous bosses and only had to defeat one of them to move on to the final boss. You have to defeat all 5 to move on to the final boss. That alone makes it a little more difficult to contend with than the American version.

There are 4 different bosses not in the American version so it was new to me. 2 of the bosses remained the same (The 3 Ninja/Totem boss and the 3 Robots from the American version) Even the last boss was different and you can take down the boss however you want without that hostage/using 4 specific Ninja Arts nonsense. The last boss was most similar to Mega Man 2's final boss The evil head of the organization turns into an Alien that looks almost similar to the Xenomorph and he has a similar pattern to Dr. Wily's alien form.

I think I like Wrath of the Black Manta a little more. Ninja Cop Saizou is still worth checking out.

Wrath of the Black Manta (NES)

Ancient replay.
I feel this game is underrated/underappreciated.

You play as Black Manta and have to go around the world rescuing children from the criminal organization known as DRAT (Drug Runners And Terrorists)

You can toss shurikens and use a short sword up close to enemies similar to Shinobi.
You have Ninpo Arts at your disposal and are used when you hold B for a few seconds and release the button while holding a corresponding direction on the D-Pad. You earn more Ninpo Arts when you complete a level. You can also switch between different Ninpo Arts at any time.
A neat thing you can do is interrogate certain enemies (they are colored red) to get more information and know more about the game's plot.
The Art of Invisibility is the most busted Ninpo Art in the game. You can pass through most things with it.

The only hard part about the game is the final boss. You have to use 4 different Ninpo Arts to defeat him but once you know what Arts to use it's not bad.

I recently learned the Japanese version of this game is very different.
Ninja Cop Saizou has an extra level, different graphics, different bosses and even a different soundtrack. I'll be sure to check it out soon.

The Amazing Spider-Man (Game Boy)

Mary Jane has been kidnapped and Spider-Man has to go rescue her.
The following rogue gallery of villains you face off against
---
Mysterio
Hobgoblin
Scorpion
Rhino
Dr. Octopus
Venom (he looks a little ridiculous in the cutscene)

The cutscenes where Spider-Man speaks to the villains via walkie talkie are amusing.
The title screen theme has a nice rendition of the Spider-Man TV Theme from the 60's composed by David Wise.
Game is a side-scroller with some wall crawling segments to mix up the action.
The bosses are all pretty easy once you know what to do against them.
While the game is not one of the worst, it's not too bad once you know how to operate it.

Feels good to finally beat a game you played as a kid and can finally put it behind you.

Blaster Master Zero 2 (Switch)

In some ways, this game is a little better than the first Blaster Master Zero (which is still a good game by the way).

For starters, they turned the difficulty up a small notch.

One thing I dislike about the game is this one planet you go to that has instant death hazards and it can get annoying having to start from your previous checkpoint/save. It's not too bad if you take your time. Have to dock a point off just for that.

You have to be a little more smart when it comes to using your weapons in the overhead dungeons. They cool down and you can't stick with a single one which encourages you to use your other weaponry instead of sticking with just one weapon while your other weapon recharges. The counter is also really neat and it will save you in most fights. Successful counters can also recover your Splasher and Wide Blaster weapons.

I like that they put a lot more bosses for you to fight in G-Sophia (your tank).

The sprite work in this game is amazing.

The soundtrack could of been a bit better IMO. There's a few tracks I like while the rest of the tracks are just there.

The final boss sequence near the end of the game is awesome and the ending feels like they left it open for a sequel, which would be cool cause Blaster Master Zero seems like it can be built as a potential franchise.

If you liked Blaster Master Zero, by all means get the sequel. I recommend it.

Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream (NES)

Replayed this via Switch.
It's been a good number of years since I last played Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
Things started to really heat up when I fought Soda Popinski, Mr. Sandman, Super Macho Man and especially Mr. Dream.

My timing and reflexes were way off against Mr.Dream on trying to deal with his "Dynamite Punches"
Took me quite a long time and a few breaks to finally TKO him.

Sonic 3 & Knuckles (Genesis)

Replay.
It's been a good number of years since I last played this one.
My incentive to replay it was for Achievement of the Week over at Retro Achievement which was to beat the Death Egg Zone.
I took it a step further. Did Doomsday Zone and got all the Super Emeralds as Sonic (with Tails).

This still holds up really well today as one of the best Sonic games around.

Mickey Mousecapade (NES)

Replay.
A little fun but short game.

Pretty interesting they have different characters in the US/Japanese versions. The game is still the same no matter the region.

US Bosses
---
The Wizard/Witch Hazel (in some sources)
Tick-Tock the Crocodile
Snake (looks like Kaa the Snake from The Jungle Book)
Peg-Leg Pete
Maleficent

Japanese Bosses
---
Chesire Cate
Pat the Dodo (Alice in Wonderland)
Caterpillar (Alice in Wonderland)
Captain Hook
Queen of Hearts

It's also pretty neat that there's a Hidden Mickey inside the cartridge's circuit board.
