Its definitely weird how a site with so much racism doesnt make an attempt to have a diverse set of moderators. The whole we want good moderators, not black moderators is the same line of reasoning that many companies used for years until they realized they didnt actually understand diverse problems in the ways that those with hands on experience would. Like I dont think there should be any exact quotas but its weird the very idea is always handwaved away.

It's really not that hard to stand. If a sizable amount of minorities utilize a service like this, it only makes sense to committ to diversity. They're being so hostile about it is telling. Error literally is accusing me of calling him a racist for even talking about this

A site with a commitment to diversity would be better suited to spot racial trolling a largely white staff may not. Theres a reason a fucking Supreme court justice said as much during her nomination. A staff lacking in diversity is, by definition, not a correct way to moderate a message board forum, especially one of this size.

Rather than being defensive, ask yourself this question

"If it came out today that gamefaqs rules enforcement staff were overwhelmingly white, how would that be taken by this site's minority users?"

Me outright saying the site doesn't ask users what their race (or gender) is when making them a mod is not 'defensiveness'. You constantly imply the mod staff is racist because we don't know how many people are black on the mod staff. And somehow me not knowing the exact race of the mod staff is a blight on me according to you.

You've been a user here for 17 years. You're in multiple off site discords. You've been a lead mod for how long again? You're not exactly a once in a while user who doesnt have friends here. To downplay your level of social activity on this site and essentially throw your hands up in COMPLETE ignorance when it comes to something like which mods are of color/women/trans/etc. is hard to believe

What he is saying is that unpaid internships inherently favor the more affluent because they can afford to not work for the summer. His organization does not does not accept unpaid internships because of that. However because there is a limited amount of public funds dedicated to sponsoring these students, there are very few internship opportunities. Furthermore, the act of securing these funds for the internship often are easier for more well-connected and affluent people. So the end result is that there are fewer opportunities and those few opportunities are going to affluent people. If they allowed unpaid internships there would be more opportunity for more students.

what difference do more opportunities make if it's still overwhelmingly privileged students getting them?

The choice of wording may be poor, but it is a legit criticism in today's media. There definitely is an issue with an overzealous representation quota that can negatively affect a production. That doesn't mean the opposite end of the spectrum that cries foul at the mere mention of a gay person is correct. There's obviously a balance to it due to a clear lack of representation over the last few decades due to bias from such people.
