I think it's because cooking a decent meal requires a lot of effort and skills. Pan sizes, control, lid on or lid off, hundreds of ingredients and recipes which you may or may not have at home, etc. I thought of the same thing before I started cooking complex meals. But ever since then, I've just looked for quick simple meals for the weekdays then complex meals on the weekends. If I literally have nothing to eat at home, I always make sure I'm stocked with eggs, bacon, ham, bread, etc. Also helps to have a piece of cooked roteissire chicken.

What about junk food you buy at local markets such as chips or donuts? Do those constitute as a sub of fast food as well?
