40. Yamata Dragon


We start off with one of the most unique dragons on the list. Yamata is part of an archetype called Spirit monsters, whose gimmick is that they cant be special summoned and ALSO return to your hand at the end phase of the turn they were summoned, and you can tell not just by this effect but that they also have the spirit subtype (IE Dragon/Spirit). They usually have pretty good effects, of which Yamata is certainly a part of.

Usability: 4/10
As this card cannot be special summoned as a level 8 monster, that means you have to tribute two monsters to even get it out on the field, and since you're tributing that means you're using up your normal summon for the turn. The fact that it goes away after the turn makes it kind of cumbersome. You CAN use tokens as long as the method used to get those tokens doesnt limit them (Like scapegoat) so that takes the edge off a bit. The effect really shines though if you can get it through, as a +5 draw is just incredible. Hilariously though, its actually not that beefy at only 2600, with a 3100 atk for when you, I guess REALLY want to waste your turn summoning a 3100 def monster in def position for that turn. Overall, tough to get out and proc, requires some setup to reliably make sure it gets through, but if you do its worth it.

I really like this cards design in terms of uniqueness, as it looks like a hydra and hydras are cool. Buthydras also are not dragons, so it works both in favor and against its score here. But the uniqueness is enough to get it above average.

Ive never used or owned this card, only finding it through various wiki walkings about cards and from a DuelLogs (great channel, recommend it) vid where he talked about it. As such I have no personal feeling on this card.

Its unique and a big Man it feels good when you pull this card off deal, but actually getting it there is a problem.

With that being said, welcome! I've been into YGO since the very beginning but I never really got super deep into the card game, only really playing seriously when duel links came out, but in most forms of media dragons are always my go-to, so I have an appreciation for YGO where there are plenty of regular and tiny-size dragons that aren't high cost, as opposed to something like MTG where most dragons are high cost and thus hard to make a deck around of JUST dragons.

I was never fond of synchros/xyzs/pendulums/links so don't expect to see many of those on this list. But yeah, this will be a combination of dragons that maybe I have a particular fondness for personally, or maybe they just look cool, or maybe they're a beast in-game, or maybe all 3! Some of these I've known about forever (yes, red eyes and blue eyes will be represented obv) some I just saw yesterday when looking through ygo dragons and went "wow that looks cool and sounds good." Whatever the case, these are 40 of my favorite dragons.

As a note, I will be giving scores based on "usability, design, and personal attachment" on 0-10, with 5 being average. Disclaimer that ranks might not align with scores as I like to play fast and loose here.

Yeah I'm not gonna say any more than this because I don't want to be like, entertainingly wrong on something, it sounds like you at least have a plan to contact an attorney, so they should be able to . It also wouldn't hurt to try and contact your local courthouse and see if they can give you your next court date and whether or not you did in fact miss your first one.

Yeah usually for the firm I'm at, you don't "get rid of" traffic tickets, it's usually just downgraded to a lesser charge.

Well regardless of whether or not things worked out completely in your favor, you might still have been on the hook for court costs which I think are generally charged no matter what.

This is not legal advice, but just my guess, it would depend on whether or not they can prove something was sent to you. Like if they have record of sending it in the mail and it being delivered, or them sending you an email but it somehow going to junk on your end or something, stuff like that might disallow you of getting off the hook. Basically if anything exists that shows they did their part, that's probably tough luck. If it's somehow as simple as "They said they sent me one, they actually didn't" Then I would have a hard time imagining you wouldn't win, but again NOT legal advice.

As for hiring a lawyer, everywhere is different but you might be able to find people who at least give free consultations, I know the firm I'm at does. Then they can give you what they would plan to do and how much they would charge, and you could decide from there if you want to hire them. Plenty of people around here give us a call and shop around. If you get really lucky then maybe the lawyer would just straight up do the work pro bono after hearing your story and how you did nothing wrong. Alternatively, if you make under some amount you could try asking for a court appointed lawyer where they will assign you one at no charge, but I don't know the details on that. But regardless, even if the fee ends up being for a lawyer, it depends on how much the fee for just haivng your license reinstated is, and that still I don't know if it would get you off the hook for stuff like points on your license. If it doesn't (which you could probably ask a lawyer), then paying them would probably be preferable to having a 25 over on your record.

Well I knwo in NC anyway, at least where I am, the officer writes the court date on the ticket, so here at least it's not like the offender is left completely int he dark about their court date. Most people we deal with just forget and don't know they can look it up anytime. No idea what it's like in other states though.

As someone who recently started in a law office mainly dealing in traffic violations, it is indeed on the person to know when their court date is as it is publicly available information (In NC, anyway.) It's on a website here in NC, I would hope other states have the same, where you can just type in the name and find your court date, even a past one if it just happened. Perhaps you can check yours and see whether or not that happened. But it does suck for someone who wouldn't know that and would assume that someone would reach out to them.

What exactly was your plan, if I may ask? I'm just a receptionist basically at this point so I'm not goin to act like I'm an expert, and I don't want to come off as shilling for hiring an attorney as I just stated I now work at a place and probably wouldn't be taken seriously, I'm just wondering if you were planning to just rep yourself once the actual court date came around to try and prove that you weren't guilty, or if you were waiting to hire an attorney once you found out your court date.

Scapegoat I believe is actually super useful now with how link monsters work, with link monsters that can take tokens benefitting greatly from scapegoat

As someone who played mtg as a kid, YGO cards always looked like they had horribly mangled English all over them, like the localization team didn't even care.

What does that effect mean for real? Do you have to give that creature to your opponent to get the life gain?

Also, I can already tell I'm going to want to make my own mtg copycat topic

They errata'd the card to read:
When the control of this face-up card on the field shifts to your opponent, increase your life points by 3000.

And yeah, I definitely want to do some list of cards now, but my favorite type of card is dragon types so I would probably do like, "Top 10-20 dragon type cards" or something

I wouldn't say I support Rodgers "over" the Packers, but, as a Packers fan, I don't hate him. Circumstances in the NFL and NBA have proven that, in this day and age, if you're a sports superstar you can go to a team and get whatever and whoever you want to win a championship. I also think there's probably stuff beyond what we've heard about the culture there. Basically, I think he just wants out, and he wants to go to a team that'll say "tell us what you want and we'll do it." He also is very obviously thinking about a Michael Strahan-esque career beyond football, and Green Bay isn't exactly the best place to play for that.

Does all of this kind of screw over the team this season? Yeah, so I get why people are mad. But I can't say I blame him.

Yeah tbh this sounds like it's been brewing for a while, and I would at least hope that rodgers gave the FO a chance to rectify their mistakes and they obviously didn't do it enough to his liking. I think there had to be at least a small inkling that "hey if we keep doing stuff this guy doesn't like he might bite back."

Drafting means you get a group of people together and you each take a pack, pick a card from it, then pass the pack around until everyone's taken a full pack's worth, then you do that a couple more times until you have enough to build a deck with.

Bulbasaurs vs Star Wars
The Bulbasaurs gave up 2 run homers in the 1st and 2nd innings, but settled down after that, not giving up another run the rest of the way. Unfortunately for them, Han Solo carried a perfect game into the 7th inning and pitched 8.2 innings of 1 hit ball. Talk about a buzzsaw.

Bulbasaurs vs Orange Army
The OA started off with an RBI groundout, and that would be all we'd see until a disastrous 5th inning for the Bulbasaurs. With 2 outs, the SS flubbed a grounder and allowed a run to score, and the next batter hit a 3 run homer. All of that could've been saved. The Saurs finally got on the board in the 7th but it wasn't nearly enough.

Letting monty go would be an all-time dumb move. It's on the players to keep the other team from getting those points after each foul. And even if monty made a mistake, he's allowed. He's a huge reason the team is even here.

Wanted to ask this because it annoys me to no end whenever something is brought up as a plot hole when an explanation is intuitive or flat-out present. For instance, why do people act like the eagles could have always flown the One Ring into Mt. Doom? Presumably it would have been better-defended earlier in the story and was only vulnerable at the end of Return of the King because most of Sauron's armies had been defeated.

Another thing I have heard on this is that the eagles just...didn't want to do it?

Beewolves vs Platypi
This one looked to be close early on, with the Beewolves grabbing an early 1-0 lead before the Platypi took it back with a 2 run bomb in the 2nd, only for the beewolves to tie it back up. However, things fell apart when pitcher Bevis Ortiz ran out of gas early (I think he has low stamina) and had to be subbed off before even completing 4 innings. The Beewolves less than stellar bullpen proceeded to give up 5 runs the rest of the way.

X-men vs Emerald Snax
All runs in this one were scored via HR. The X-men got a 2 run homer in the 1st, while the snax tied it up in the 2nd on their own. Then in the 4th, the x-men got back to back 3 run and solo homers, while the snax could only manage one more homer.

Moose vs Moonstars
This was a low-scoring game with plenty of intrigue. Both teams are trying to keep their playoff hopes alive, and there was some clutch ingame performances to back that up too. The Moonstars started off early with an RBI flyout in the 1st, and then the play of the game came in the 4th, with the Moose up to bat and 2 men on base, they hit a huge ball that would have gone over had the OF not made a spectacular run-up-the-wall catch to rob the HR. Instead, the Moose only get 1 run out of that, and that ended up biting them as the Moonstars got another run that inning and no more would score for either team.

Moonstars pitcher Alisha Woodrow pitched a 4 hit, 1 run complete game with perhaps the highest K total so far this season on any team, with 8.

Anyway, going back to english fans vs ctes, given the behavior during the denmark game (booing the anthem, laser pointer), and given that afaik england stands to be the only team this tournament charged with fan infractions, I don't think it's an unfair take to say they've been the worst this tournament. But also, that is definitely not what was conveyed at first before ctes clarified that we're talking just this tournament, so I don't think the outrage at bein called "The worst fanbase" is unfair either, especially since as we've established, it's not representative of the fanbase as a whole. Which that last sentiment is something I think we all understand and agree with.

The worst soccer reaction I've heard of was I think it was in south america where fans decapitated and dismembered a ref after the ref stabbed a player or something. Or I guess not "reaction" but behavior in general. Though I know ctes said just this tournament but I'm just musing.

I'm sure every fanbase has its fair share of nuts. Here in the states we always give crap to places like new york or philly or florida but bad apples exist in every sport for every team. And I'd bet more of them exist in soccer than any other sport considering how seriously the world takes it.

The problem that plagues Tales OSTs is Sakuraba has a lot of same-y battle themes from game to game, his lesser regarded tracks I see comments all the time on youtube going "Yep, classic Sakuraba." I don't know how to explain it but I think it's a lot of the same instruments. Quite a few of Vesperia's fall into this category. But I think you'd be hard pressed to find a tales game without several great themes between battle/dungeon/town themes, even Vesperia. As mentioned, Fury sparks is great. The final dungeon themes are great, I think the boss theme is good and unique, etc. I think there's hits and misses in each game.

Buccaneers vs Beewolves
The Beewolves were up 1-0 for the entire game, and in the 9th took advantage of a lazy outfielder to go up 3 runs...only to pull their shutout-throwing starting pitcher and immediately give up 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th. Then, in the 10th, the beewolves with 2 outs flubbed a routine catch at 2B to allow the runner to reach base, which led to another runner to reach base the next batter, which led to a WALK OFF 3 RUN HOMER! Heartbreak for the Beewolves, redemption for the Buccaneers!
