So buy a cheap gun just to stick in your luggage so you can supervise the TSA's search of it. An interesting solution indeed.

Doesn't seem particularly effective at solving the original problem though.

Even if TC was there for the search, they still would have demanded to open and go through the books. I'm honestly not sure what the policy would be at that point if you tried to stop them.

Unless, of course, your plan is to hope they just won't search your bag because it's way more of a hassle for them. Or you're really really concerned about replacing a cheap luggage lock.

I'm not so convinced. I honestly don't believe the TSA is particularly effective. If you've flown a lot and always pack the exact same things, it's mind boggling the inconsistency with when things get flagged vs when they don't. My bag, which almost always contains the exact same things, gets flagged like 20% of the time.

I know people who have accidentally left hunting knives in their carry on bag and didn't realize it until they got to the hotel at their destination. TSA completely missed it.

And I'm pretty sure there have been multiple undercover attempts by Homeland Security to test how much they could get past the TSA, and it's always just a ridiculous number of things. So they really aren't as effective as we're lead to believe.

I travel a lot, I'll tell you this - books get flagged all the time (especially if you have a bunch of them, which it sounds like you did). The X-ray machines are worthless when it comes to books, they just appear as giant rectangular blocks. So they have to check them manually. And yes, they opened them up to see if you were hiding anything in the pages, since the X-ray machine may have not been able to see it.

I fly with Magic cards on occasion in my carry on, and I just take them out of the bag because it gets flagged each time.

And yeah, it's frustrating that they always just make a mess of everything and cram it all back in. I have everything neatly folded and organized, and when I open it up everything is just a mess with a note on top saying tsa went through it.

I liked the concept of having a boss fight that didn't reset on death and I liked that it wasn't a 'traditional' boss fight. I think what really kills the boss is the run up to the arena. It's a boss fight where you're literally expected to die repeatedly. The slog of getting to the boss room makes it annoying as fuck.

Yup, both the hidden bonfire in Lost Izalith and the shortcut via the Chaos Servant covenant are still quite far away. Sucks running for like 5 minutes just to be bitch-slapped down a hole 4 seconds into the fight.

Yes, it's about prioritizing and managing threats. You know where the boss is and how often an attack will come (Nito's gravelord sword is on a timer), so you have to attack/advance in between the gaps in the timing.

yeah but every boss is like that to some degree. you're basically just describing all of the game's gameplay here, nothing specific to Nito

Pretty much. And a divine weapon completely trivializes that entire fight.

Even just limiting it to bosses where there are multiple enemies, the Gargoyles does the "managing threats" aspect way better. The Capra Demon does it, but in a cheap way. Ornstein and Smough is pretty much the pinnacle of "managing and prioritizing threats". And Pinwheel is a thing, probably a more interesting fight if anyone ever bothered doing it early on, but everyone does it late in the game.

Nito actually does it worse than any of them save Capra Demon, because there isn't really any "managing" of threats. If you're using a divine weapon, then quickly kill the skeletons, then Nito. If not, focus on Nito and drop him in a few seconds because he has such low health. The correct way to manage the threats is basically to ignore them...

lol

By far the best way to handle the fight is to just havel up and tank hits while swinging nonstop. If you don't havel up, you should aim to dish out as much damage as humanly possible in the shortest period of time. You really don't want more than one King on the screen at a time

Even this run as a sorcerer, I didn't feel like timing was that important as I never really thought of the 4 Kings as "fast".

This is the first time in like 200+ hours of playing Dark Souls that I did a pure sorcery build... And my god does magic tear through him. He could dodge the soul spears, but each one that hit took off like a quarter of his health.

I've gotten pretty good at parrying him though, so even my melee runs have been pretty good. Oddly though, Artorias always gives me trouble, no matter what my build is.

At first blush, I think I'd want proportional representation, but my biggest fear is that if that is implemented, nothing would ever get done in parliament because you would quite often end up with the house very split. Even in landslide wins, it's unusual for a party to get more than 50% of the vote.

In the 2015 election the liberals won a majority with only 39% of the vote. Imagine how difficult it would have been for them to implement any of their promises if the 32% of conservative seats were able to stonewall them? It would effectively force us into a two party system as there's just no way to get anything done if all the parties have different ideas and on what action should be taken.

I understand why the liberals gave up on that promise. No voting option is without downsides.

Some people just don't read when they're booking something and ignore all the requirements to sit in an emergency row seat. And generally speaking people will jump at the chance to get an emergency lane seat. So much more legroom. The flight attendants usually have no trouble moving people around when that happens.

Oh, also worth noting - you may occasionally see a bunch of seats not available to select when you check in, but when you board the flight you'll see a ton of empty seats. They block off a lot of the seats in the middle of the plane if the flight isn't full to better distribute the weight in the plane.

Depends on the airline and class of ticket you buy. It's more common in the US to be able to select a seat when you buy a ticket than it is in Canada (assuming you didn't buy the absolute bottom barrel cheapest ticket). Canada is absolutely awful for flying. On every airline I've been on you can change your assigned seat when you check in. If you didn't select a seat when you purchased the tickets, one would be assigned to you randomly and you can change it when you check in - no charge for that.

Most people don't pay for advance seat selection - they just pick their seat when they check in for the flight.

I tend to check in as soon as I can (usually 24 hours before the flight) since I find motion sickness to be much worse if I'm at the back of the plane.

That said, I usually fly on my own, so if people want to trade seats, and the seats are comparable, I don't mind.

Times when I won't trade seats:
- They have a middle seat, and I have either an aisle or a window. Middle seats suck.
- Their seat is further back from where I am (a couple rows is fine. Moving to the back of the plane is not)
- The swap would put me right next to a baby or small child.

And there are the people who don't really talk a lot, but like being out with people and just taking it all in. Even if not taling a lot doesn't necessarily mean they're shy.

Males don't use the balance beam <_<

It's a hard one to quantify. Competitive level gymnasts train an absolutely absurd amount. It requires being in insanely good shape... But it's not the type of fitness that will necessarily help them in a battlefield.

You put most seals through an 8 hour training regiment a gymnast will go through, and I suspect they would be exhausted at the end. But you strap a ton of combat gear to a gymnast and tell them to sprint across a battlefield, and I doubt they'll do much better. Different styles of fitness.

So basically, impossible to say. I'm sure there are plenty of Seals that would put the average gymnast to shame, but I'm sure there are also Seals that may not be quite as good.
