I will say that here in America, quarter chickens are amazingly cheap. 5 quarter chickens for $4? Love it.

Chicken breasts are quite a bit more expensive than they are in Canada though for some reason. Like 30-40% more expensive once adjusting for the difference in currency.

I typically plan ahead, as I usually have to pull something out of the freezer to cook. If I don't plan ahead, it often means I'll be eating fast food.

Though it's tougher to resist the allure of fast food right now since I'm away for work and they're footing all my bills. But I'm being a responsible human being and eating proper food I cooked.

Damn you Kuznetsov. I needed Ovechkin to get more points, not you.

I'm in the Sportsnet fantasy league, and was doing so well. I haven't calculated it yet, but I think I'm 4th or 5th overall, out of tens of thousands of people. I'll find out when it updates tomorrow, but you needed to be top 3 to get cash, and I definitely didn't make that.

Oh well, I crushed everyone in my local pool and will never do this well again. I will resume my usual position of 10,000th place next year.

You don't sound like an alcoholic lol. Just a regular drinker who decided to not drink anymore.

More or less accurate. I definitely drank too much in my University days... But who didn't?

I quit drinking because I noticed a very strong correlation between alcohol and my depression. I felt fucking awful every time I drank. So I just stopped drinking.

I've been pretty damn lucky since I quit drinking. Literally no one has remotely cared.

One of my friends did ask me if it bothered me that everyone else would continue to drink around me, to which I responded that it would bother me more if people refused to drink if I was around.

I legit don't miss alcohol at all though. Even during the harder life moments the last while (a whole bunch of death in the family), not even a slight desire to drink. I know it's not that easy for most people though, so good on ya.

Looks don't really matter this is a call center job

Time for more hard truths. Looks always matter. You don't want to overdue it, but how you dress impacts how people perceive you. I assume the end goal here isn't to move up the chain, but "dressing like a slob" will cause others (particularly older people in upper management) to view you in that light, making you have to work harder for raises or promotions than you would have to if you dressed up a bit.

I agree, it's a call centre job that likely doesn't matter and you've mentioned you've worked in professional settings, but this is advice that is always applicable. The world should be based purely on merit and skills, but so long as it's run by humans, we'll continue taking other factors into consideration.

wolfy42 posted...
It's much harder to find comfy casual clothes.

I legit find dress pants to be the comfiest pants. They just look silly with a t-shirt, so I only wear them at work, otherwise I'd probably wear them all the time.

And I've worked a 28 on 28 off rotation schedule working 80+ hours a week for a year, and wore dress clothes and a belt the entire time. I've literally never thought once that a belt is uncomfortable to be perfectly honest. I've never even heard other people say belts aren't comfortable. This is literally new to me.

Alright, time for some cold hard truth. Sweatpants are awful, and other than for exercise you should be embarrassed to leave your house wearing them.

Buy some jeans. Wear a belt. Old Navy, if there's one near you, even has jeans with elastic waist, and they don't look completely awful, if you're really against wearing a belt for whatever reason.
