TopicHave you ever truly hated someone but also been happy for them at the same time?

I'm in that position now and it feels very strange, it isn't a mix of emotion but two very distinct feeling clashing together.

I can't go into details, but in a sense a certain person took something from me that I wasn't able to use and yet still wanted to keep and now they're using it better than I ever could. I hate them for "stealing" from me, but am happy that they did something I couldn't do. At first I just wanted to tear them apart, and still do, but now I also want to give them my blessings.

Seeing as I can do neither, I'll just hope they don't squander this chance.

Ok, so I thought of a much simpler and much more accurate way to describe the gimmick I though up.

Everything the protagonist says is the "truth".

Past, present, or future, when asked a question, his (the player's) response becomes the "truth" in so far as the universe will bend over backwards, and even break, to accommodate his statement. If he says he remembers someone then they've met before, if he says he'll save someone's life, he'll save them, if he promises to find something by a certain date, he will find it by then.

This "power" wouldn't be something that the protag can abuse, since he's normally silent, and at this point it should be obvious, far from a normal person.

While the gorilla obviously has greater strength and size, I've done some training with knives and have superior intelligence. To be fair I'll put the odds at 40/60.

More than likely dead. Like anyone who leaves this hellhole. The recent victim was our good friend, Sunny, ok?

Well I for one did fine after leaving. I got a job, my own place, and am still working on my creative efforts. Soon I'll probably be having my own custom built house made and release a novel.

You should post more Sleeping/Dreaming King. Always have enjoyed your topics.

Well thank you, I am far more busy these days but I have plenty of ideas to bounce around still so it could be fun.

is there a sword?

I'm considering if the main girl would know fencing or not, so maybe.

Thanks, downloading now. And yeah I'm sure someone has done this before since I got the idea from how little we learn of the pasts of some protagonists in these things, but I feel like I might be onto something with this idea.

Basically it's a standard "boy meets mysterious girl who changes his mundane life" story from the looks of it, but your dialogue choices "change" the past.

Like early on there could be a situation where she asks the protag if he remembers meeting her as kids, if you say yes then that is a thing that happened and is referenced/pushes you towards a specific route but if you say no, then it never happened at all. It isn't like time travel necessarily, more like... the past before the game is nebulous and needs the input of the player to solidify and be revealed.

Anyways, just an idea I had. I've only really read the most popular VNs out there but has anyone heard of something similar to this concept being done before? I'd like to check it out if it exists.
