well one of FFVIII's issues is that the game gives you the option to be mean to Rinoa repeatedly without consequence so that can make it seem forced if you chose to go that route because you don't like her

I never got the idea that the romance was forced. Rinoa walking up to Squall in the dance sequence pretty much sealed their fates. Approaching the insecure guy with a scar on his face, and telling him he's the best looking guy there? It was a done deal.

Honestly, I never got the impression that Squall was socially insecure in the way you're talking about. He had various insecurities (see: his Ellone complex) but not "I am shy at parties" - he just didn't like parties and liked being alone.

Admittedly I'm projecting but if I were standing alone at a party because I didn't feel like socializing, and someone got all up in my face and insisted I dance (even if she complimented me) I would stay far away from that. I'll do what I want, thanks.

when did yall grow out of playing with action figures and toys and stuff

I think I also grew out of it around 9 or 10, so I dunno if thats related to santa or the other way around

my brother is six years younger and we had a whole fictional world built up around our toys. so I don't remember exactly, but probably through high school for me.

Star Rac the raccoon was the leader of his squad, and Talor the wolf was mine. we'd go on space missions together and stuff

tbh it depends on what you're looking for in an RPG

FF8:
- the aesthetic is a sci-fi/fantasy mix
- also the aesthetic is TEEN DRAMA with a heavy dose of romance
- at times, the plot gets pretty goofy. (same orphanage, let's all go into space for no reason, time kompression, etc.) you have to approach it with the right mindset: it's a trainwreck, but a fun trainwreck. a futuristic romcom.
- the character customization is on the complex side, and you might want to make a playthrough topic for people to give you advice. my first playthrough, I did all my battles by spamming summons, which is both tedious and (I found out much later) a bad way to play

FF9:
- the aesthetic is classic fantasy. castles, kingdoms, knights and mages
- more straightforward in plot and gameplay
- a lot more emotionally resonant, at least for me

If the company wants to be a jerk, they can do B (for exempt workers, anyway). They can even force employees with PTO (who weren't planning to use it) to take a day for a snow day. It's pretty dumb.

I haven't gotten anything else so far, but as your affection levels/mood rises, it's supposed to give you reduced candy distance and a battle boost for that pokemon.

Ok real talk, Twitter is a FANTASTIC place to get your art out there.

I follow a ton of artists who use Twitter to make money on the side through commissions, merch, etc. Honestly it seems like a tough field to break into. It's a friendly community but there are just so many super talented dudes out there, it's hard for anyone to stand out.
