What about the people who get an injury, are prescribed opiates, and then become addicted to those? How is that their fault?

Maybe I just have a high tolerance for it, but I've never taken an opiate to be able to cope with pain from any kind of injury or illness. I've had multiple fractures and broken bones. Suffered kidney stones, I had a dental abscess, many things which cause pretty serious pain. I've been prescribed opiates for a lot of these, but it was my choice not to get them filled, and to just either deal with it or take something over the counter.

Just because a doctor says "take this" doesn't absolve you from the responsibility of the consequences you suffer as a result of taking it. And it certainly doesn't mean you have to take it either.
It's their fault because they weren't forced to take it, and because they weren't informed enough to know they could become addicted to it. Again, this is placing the blame somewhere other than yourself.

I don't think addicts are weak, or weak minded either. They show just how strong-willed and sound of mind they are through the actions they take to get their "fix".

Addicts are perfectly reasonable people. Their lives are just so shitty that the only rational decision they can make is to "get high".

Calling addiction a disease is like calling poverty a disease.

Sure, I may be at higher risk because of my genetics, but that certainly doesn't make me one by default.

Addiction is a behavioral disorder, or a condition.

But it's not a disease. You can't catch addiction, you can't be infected with addiction, you can't develop an addiction as a result of your genetics.

Only through repeated exposure to a substance can you become addicted to it.

Dictionary.com disagrees.

Do you even know why they started calling it a disease in the first place?

It's because they realized that making people feel guilty contributed to addiction.

So when you put them in the mindset of "It's not my fault, I have a disease" instead of "I'm a piece of shit" it removes the responsibility from the person. It's not because it's actually a disease.

Looking for sources right now, but there was a study done in vermont where they paid people who had a long history of chronic addiction $500 a week if they could pass a drug test every day. I'm pretty sure this study lasted for a year. And they had a near 100% success rate.

If addiction IS a disease, then it's the only one in existence that can be cured with money.

Who'da thunk it?

They were removed because of the pedastal that all the megaman 2 fanboys have placed it on.

"Megaman 2 is the most popular game, let's copy it to the letter so this new game will sell just as well."

Plus, if they remove said abilities, they can just give them to another character (Protoman) and sell it as DLC.

I'm not against the use of marijuana. I've even been known to partake pretty regularly myself.

But making it legal will surely drive up prices, and potentially put hard working pot dealers out of business.

I'd much rather be able to acquire it with some semblance of anonymity. So while I think it'd be great, I also think it has it's fair share of problems.

I personally am fine with the status of it as it is, because where I live, the cops don't really give you any grief over it, unless you have a substantial amount, which I never do.

It's just that go-to quick pick option people chooses because they've heard it repeated so many times.

Except that, even 28 years ago, before any one was "repeating" anything, I still considered it the best one.

I had way more fun playing it than I did Mega Man 1 (it didn't help 1's case that I played 2 first). And while Mega Man 3 certainly added new elements that were cool or interesting, even then it didn't feel quite as fun as 2 did. Nor did the bosses in 3 feel as iconic or cool as the ones in 2.

From Mega Man 4 on, the games seem to keep getting progressively worse and less interesting, which ultimately led me to stop caring about the franchise entirely.

To this day, if you ask me which of the games I still remember most fondly, or which I would choose to play over any of the others, I'd pick 2 100% of the time. And that has nothing to do with what other people think of it, because if I was the sort of person who gave a fuck what other people think, I probably wouldn't dislike Ocarina of Time as much as I do.

I'm sorry you took it so personally. And that's your opinion, but that still doesn't change the fact the bandwagon effect is in place here.

The first game has some really wonky level design when you look at it. The balancing is all over the place, and some things seem to be there just to annoy the player.

It's just that go-to quick pick option people chooses because they've heard it repeated so many times.

First off, there is no Slide ability, there is no Charged buster, and there is no Rush.
3 things which are iconic to Megaman's history.

The robot bosses are arguably the easiest batch of the first 6 games, some even going down in as little as 1 or 2 hits.

Metal Blade turns the game into a total snooze-fest, and quick boomerang shreds any non-robot master boss. Alien-Wily being the exception.

You might argue 'but the music! it's so good!', and to that I say, have you not listened to the other megaman games? They ALL have pretty outstanding soundtracks.

So, what exactly makes this megaman game that lacks so much of what we associate with megaman, the BEST one?
