I get tired of feeling sorry for myself and making up excuses. Not sure if this is the same thing as motivation.

I dont feel sorry for myself, I just hate on who Ive become. Ive become lazy, Ive been like this for 2 years. Ive been through some tough times in those 2 years, maybe it contributed to the way I am now. I used to hustle at work, pick up shifts...now that I can work as long as I want, I dont have that hustle mentality anymore.

I don't want to be poor and I want to have nice things. That's motivation enough for me.

Im poor when it comes to actual money, but bills are paid, rent is on time, etc. I have a ps4 and laptop that keeps me entertained. Im not too interested in material things. Maybe I need a vacation.

Im an independent contractor and can work as long or as little as I like. Lately Ive been working JUST enough to get things paid. I just dont have the motivation to work more. I WANT to, because I can make good money and that helps me out in the long wrong. Part of whats holding me back is the commute. I catch the train that takes a little over an hour to get to the city. My neighborhood is depressing, there have been about 4-5 deaths within a 5 block radius from where I live. My parents are both sick, which adds a ton of stress. I know those things should motivate me to do better, move out, but its hard knowing Ill still be stuck here for about 7-8 months doing the same thing over and over. Everyday is the same, everyday is boring.

What motivates you?

Wtf? I had a job call me and partially interview me on the phone. It went well and he asked if I could come in today. Of course I can! I told him I'll be a little over an hour and he said great to ask the lady in the front you're here to speak to Joe. I arrive at the job and ask the lady in the front if I can speak to Joe. She said that Joe left, I was kinda surprised/confused and asked really? He told me to come in to speak to him. She talks to some other guy and the guy was like yea, Joe's not here, he didn't say or mention anything. I'm just like, what time will he be here tomorrow and they said after 9am.

I'm so frustrated that I wasted money and time on this cold ass night. Wtf can I do? Any bad reviews or something? I'm not letting this go. Such disrespect. And there was no way I can contact him because he called from the store, not his personal cellphone.

They did in school suspension at my high school.

So you'd show up to sit in a room for a few hours

I had that too, only time we could leave the room was for lunch. They also had Saturday detentions, but I never got any. I remember I had like 4-5 detentions built up and the dean told me I could trade those for 1 suspension, lol. That guy was cool.

Wow, I feel almost the same as Back_Stabbath. My gf I feel loved me more than I her. When I was unemployed for a bit, she held us down without complaining, she hugs/kisses me way more than I do to her, she believes in my goals/dreams, etc. There are at times she puts her arm around me when we're laying down and I think man, get your arm off of me, but I don't say anything. I feel like there's hope. She's a great person, I'm just not sure what it is. Idk if I'm getting bored or not. There ARE times when I feel like I do love her, I'll look at her when she's asleep and think she's great. Honestly, I've been feeling depressed lately, so that could be making it worse.

I get up at 11 am pretty well rested with 8 or 9 hrs of sleep, on a rough day it can be as low as 6 hrs.

I'm trying to get up by around 6:30am, that would be ideal. As of now though with my late night/morning sleep schedule..I'd go to sleep around 5-6am and wake up around 12:30-1pm. So I'm getting around 6-7 hours, but I would love to push that back.

Do you use your bed for anything besides sleeping? The less stuff you do in bed besides sleep the easier it is for your mind and body to shift into sleep mode when you get in bed.

Also you guys who have trouble waking up should consider a wake up light. It slowly brings you out of sleep so you wake up actually refreshed and ready to go instead of feeling tired from sudden awakeness

I sometimes watch shows on my laptop laying in bed, but that's about it. Never heard of a wake up light. It sounds like it'll help though. I actually don't have any windows in my room, so it's nearly pitch black in the morning or night.

So if I get 2-3 hours of sleep, do I just man up, go about my day and I should knock out fairly easy when I go to bed again?

Side note: Are you the same person that frequented the MMA board a while ago? I lurked a lot so you won't know me, but I remember you lifting and doing a bit of boxing. You had a blog and everything. If it's you, how's life been treating you?

Well, my tactic would be to get 5 or 6, and have the sleep debt slowly creep up. That's what works for me. The exception is one time when I was going to bed at 6 am regularly and then I got a manual labor job that required me to wake up at 5:30. The first day I got an hour of sleep and did some hard work, crashed early at night, and I've been on a normal schedule since.

And yeah, that's me. Life has been good, thanks for asking. I tore my bicep in March at a competition lifting a 700 lb tire and after surgery my arm shrank to an insane level: sGVihpK

It's getting bigger now and I'll make a full recovery. I've been on that board since 2003 and feel a special sentiment for anyone who comes from there and calls me out.

I honestly think getting the very few hours of sleep, waking up to deal with it and then crashing the night might be best.

And whoa man. That's insane. I'm happy to know you're still at it and good to know you'll make a full recovery. That's crazy that it's actually you though, lol. I remember waaaaay back you had a video of lifting like..5lbers and you say something like "I can't take this anymore!" And the next shot is you at the gym doing your thing, lmao. Man, it's good to see you're doing good.

Getting out of bed is the hardest thing I do in my life. I have to put my alarm far enough away so that I have to get out of bed to turn it off, otherwise I'm capable of turning it off, falling back to sleep, and then having no memory of doing so.

I use my phone as an alarm and have it near me when I sleep. I normally wake up when it's like an hour away from going off and just turn the alarm off completely =\

Well it sounds like you're having trouble sleeping rather than getting out of bed. Me, I'm just a lazy shit I guess. I imagine if you start working both shifts you'll have an easier time falling asleep, but if your thoughts are still keeping you awake even when you're exhausted you might want to talk to someone.

It's both. The troubles of falling asleep makes me wake up later than normal, but if I tried getting up early with 2-3 hours of sleep I feel like complete shit. They definitely keep me awake, but man....do I really need to talk to someone? It's just random thoughts, thinking of work the next day, my family, etc. My thoughts can get chaotic, but I never let them get to me.

Anyone ever try NyQuil?

Do you stay up really late while having random thoughts? I feel like some things going on in my life have me a bit depressed. Maybe that's another reason for lack of sleep.

For me, if I have trouble getting up in the morning it means I didn't sleep enough, and eventually this tiredness will stack up and I'll fall asleep immediately when I go to bed. If this doesn't happen I might deprive myself of sleep a little more, incrementally. Staying up all night is too sudden a shift and I find my body doesn't adjust well. I'll be dead tired after being up all night, then go to sleep early....and in bed I'm not tired anymore.

So if I get 2-3 hours of sleep, do I just man up, go about my day and I should knock out fairly easy when I go to bed again?

I work for several delivery gigs and I know if I hustle I can easily make a G a week. The problem is getting up in the morning. I have a very hard time falling asleep and normally would go to sleep at 5-6am. My job has an 8am-2pm shift that I would like to work on top of my 5:30pm-11pm shift. I would love to hustle the remainder of 2017 to have some money in the bank for next year. Any advice to help me sleep earlier?

I've thought about staying up the whole day and crashing around midnight to kinda reset my sleep schedule. As of now I sleep around 5-6am and wake up around 12:30-1pm. I'm trying to go to sleep by midnight-1am to wake up around 6-7am. Is this a good idea?

Lots of questions.

What's your job now?

Any idea on what the future job is or could be?

Moving out from your parents? Going to college to dorm or renting an apartment?

Planning on living alone or have any friends/siblings to move in with?

Cashier, and most likely the future job will be something very similar

Moving away from my family, and open to either as I don't know if I'll be going to CC or Uni

Living alone

Hmm, would it matter if I've never drank a cup of coffee in my life?

Living alone might be a bit hard while being a cashier/team member. I think it'll be easier if you end up dorming with someone in college, but most likely will be rooming with someone. The fact that you live in a large city might make it a bit harder too due to the city always being expensive. Maybe a studio of some sort could work.

As for jobs, being a host or server is a job recommended for your age. The Starbucks idea isn't bad either.
