No, I'm Catholic. But I think people should be free to believe what they want, and the government saw a bunch of weirdos in the desert and thought "Hey let's murder these people and take selfies with the corpses for shits and giggles."

It's a bit more complex than that. The problem wasn't a bunch of religious weirdos, it was reports of sexual abuse of children,as well as other abuse.

I think the point is that Nintendo's lane is doing something different aside from "MORE POWER" every generation. They tried that with the Gamecube and biffed it, so they changed their strategy. Wii was gimmicky, but they sold a shit ton of them. WiiU had AWFUL marketing for what was honestly a cool little system, and crashed with that. Switch seems to have hit the sweet spot of gimmicky and functional for people. It's pretty fun as a companion for another console or PC if you play on that.

I love how every time California comes up, someone pops up to act like we live in some sort of post apocalyptic hellhole lol

Anyway, this is why I hate how the media frames things. Instead of saying "California is banning Titanium Dioxide in foods, something other countries have already done here is a list of foods on the market that contain it" its "STUPID COMMIEFORNIA BANNING SKITTLEZ"

Gotta mention Deus Ex: Human Revolution, the original version. Early in the game your biochip starts experiencing glitches, and there's a small optional quest to replace it. Fast forward to the end of the game and, guess what? That glitch was actually the illuminati trying to force augmented people to get a new chip they can control with a kill switch. You are now fighting the hardest boss in the game with every augment deactivated.

Also, Farcry 2. If you bust your ass to keep all your buddies alive in the 2nd half of the game , they repay you by turning on you and you have to fight them all at once. I never finished the game thanks to having to fight like 4 of them at the same time, and one was just launching missiles at me like it was going out of style. What psycho decided to PUNISH you for not letting teammates die?

Yes and no. Some of them are fun and interesting, but the "You missed one item at the beginning of the game and are now locked into a no-win scenario" and "You clicked three pixels to the left and a half-second too slow and now you're dead" aspects of their game design kind of suck.

It's why I tend to view LucasArts as the #1 point-and-click adventure game studio from that era. They focused a bit more on having fun and telling interesting stories than on punishing players and making things excessively hard to encourage people to call the Sierra hint-line for clues.

Pretty much this. Old Sierra games were usually pretty obtuse and the ability to get stuck in a no win scenario hours into a game if you miss something early on is just awful design.

It was just there to bridge the gap more between the first movie, and the current day, considering she'd been running around since WWI. I guess we're lucky they at least put her in '84 and didn't drag out out by having a WWII sequel or something.

I was working at Hollywood Video and going to community college at the time , and bussed to both places, so I killed a lot of time on the bus w/ my GBA SP. Depends on the game, some hold up much better than others. The 16 bit generation aged pretty well, so a lot from that time can still be enjoyed without too much context. For example, Super Metroid has tight gameplay, great music and some of the best graphics on the SNES. Save points and a map also help quite a bit, so someone can pick it up for the first time now and probably have some fun. The ORIGINAL Metroid though... different story. Its so obtuse with its secrets, a lot of rooms look the same, and you kind of need to hand draw your own map to get around (unless you just use a guide) My friend's kid is 6, and really likes the old Sonic games, they're colorful, fast paced and you literally only need to use one button to control Sonic, so its very easy for a younger kid to just pick up and play.

DLC. Just make the full game flat out. Also, remakes that remove things instead of just adding on to. Example is REmake of 1 is a remake done right but remakes of RE2 and 3 are a disservice and RE4 remake is also a disservice because in the original Ada is wearing the red dress and in the remake she'll be wearing a red sweater. As I said, REmake of 1 is a remake done right and there's no excuse to have RE2 and 3 not done like that and there's no excuse to have Ada in a sweater instead of the red dress.

I can't tell if this is serious with the remake of RE4 being a "disservice", because of a sweater.
