I think it's a wash. The game's so lo-fi it could easily run on toasters. I'm playing on Switch just because it's easier to stream that way.

Very much of the "you're dropped into an environment and kinda have to figure out what the puzzles even are". I suppose if I have to compare it to anything at the moment I'd compare it to The Witness first, as the story is kept very minimal, and although there is character interaction in the game, it's pretty muted: a simple scene of a character talking to you and then walking off, for example.

The aesthetic is black-and-white. The environment is a hotel in rural Germany and its immediate surrounding area. The only bits of color are "Danganronpa Pink" of the "might be paint, might be blood" variety, but there's also that same pink color in the eponymous laser eyes when they come into play.

The puzzles are varied, but at least for now they're normal brain teasers: solve this number puzzle to get a four-digit code. Get information in one place and use it in another. Interpret this document because it gives you the solution.

I suppose my only complaint so far is that the controls were purposely made too simple. It is, in fact, a one-button game. You walk around and move around with the stick/d-pad and any of the other controller buttons all do the same thing, either interact with something when you're focused on it, or open up the main menu if you're not focused on anything. This does lead to some frustration as, since it's one-button, there's no "back" button, so if I get four menus deep into the main menu, I manually have to move the highlight up to the "X" to back up, rather than just push a button for it. This also translates to certain puzzles; for example, if I'm solving a combination lock, I push the "one-button" to rotate a dial, and if I accidentally go past the number I want, I have to go all the way back around instead of just having a way to reverse direction.

To the game's credit, it goes to great lengths to keep track of things for you. Your menu records everything you've seen that is important and worth recording, although there's still value in having a pen, paper, and calculator handy.

I streamed it for three hours yesterday and got about 33% through, so this looks to be about a ten-hour game, but that'll vary depending on your puzzle skills. Things might drag out for me once I get to the nastier puzzles, but who's to say.

I'll definitely see it through and my chat convinced me to do so on stream, so we'll see how it goes.

Yes. You'll get far more experience in far fewer battles, and you'll also get great items on top of that.

Oh sorry I guess it was poor choice of words. It's still just my opinion only. Not trying to be an authority here.

Every time someone says they hated that they had to grind and prepare for that fight specifically, the only thing I can think of is that when you consider the idea that Majima and Saejima are godlike legends, narratively the whole idea makes perfect sense.

(but if you were to complain that you had to go through a mini-dungeon to reach that fight, and had to do it all again after preparing, that's a legit complaint)

If I were to for streaming I don't think I'd try to be a gorgeous humanoid.

A friend of mine is just an animated goose, and that idea is just super attractive to me.

It'll get worse soon enough. Fandom is a known parasitic internet entity and they don't deserve the benefit of doubt at this point. Their method & purpose are crystal clear.
1.) Squeeze as many ads as possible, destroy community if needed
2.) Acquire another website
3.) Repeat

The show has covered the opioid crisis before and this week they focused on the payouts made by pharma companies as a result of the settlement for their part in the opioid crisis.

And specifically where that money goes (local and state governments), what that money was supposed to go towards (preventative care), and what it ends up going towards in some cases (hint: it rhymes with police).

To paraphrase John Oliver, I believe thinking of the death penalty from the perspective of "them" (being our worst people) is the wrong way to go about it. It's not about them. It's about us.

It's about our modern evolved society and what it means for us to wish to seek death for the worst of us. What does that say about us? That we're vengeful? That we're bloodthirsty? That we consider ourselves worthy of judging someone to death?

That we'll handwave it away by making an argument about "wasting resources" on a number of people in the double digits out of the billions on this planet?
