Normally I hate dying to bosses repeatedly, but the fact that in this case it's Goro freaking Majima makes it a bit more palatable tbh

Time to go back to Yokohama and grind

Did you spend much time in the Sotenbori Battle Arena? I think that was the game saying "You might wanna bulk up here, shit's gonna be rough".

if you haven't, you should do that real estate mini-game.

getting #1 rewards you with an ultimate move.

I don't think I would have been able to beat the game otherwise.

Yeah real easy to grind rare materials and xp there. Especially since you don't have to start at floor 1 each time. By the time I fought Majima, I had the final weapon form for most of my team.

Also if you think Majima and saejima are hard then lol at the boss you'll fight soon after.

Majima and Saejima was the only battle I had trouble with in the entire game

Every time someone says they hated that they had to grind and prepare for that fight specifically, the only thing I can think of is that when you consider the idea that Majima and Saejima are godlike legends, narratively the whole idea makes perfect sense.

(but if you were to complain that you had to go through a mini-dungeon to reach that fight, and had to do it all again after preparing, that's a legit complaint)

I already did. That's how I got the final forge level

Eh, I believe gameplay should be given precedence to narrative in video games (though narrative is definitely important). Now if it were something like the first Majima fight in K1, where you're supposed to lose, then that would have been much better imo

Also, I get that you've done a lot for the Yakuza series, and I legitimately respect that, but you don't get to judge which complaints are "legit" or not

Fair enough, I accept your apology

Fwiw it's still a 9.5/10 game that's perfect in literally every other way (so far)

Also general question: is Sotenbori Arena really better to grind than Yokohama Underground?

Yes. You'll get far more experience in far fewer battles, and you'll also get great items on top of that.

But I can't e.g. change Jobs while I'm in Sotenbori, correct?

Under the assumption that I can't change jobs in Sotenbori, I think the way forward is to get everyone to bond level 5 (which I'm already almost at), figure out what I'm doing with Han jobwise, then go over to Sotenbori and start levelling up

The only time the underground dungeon is preferable is super late game since the first dungeon has that hobo that only takes 1 damage for each attack. You get 12k xp from him Iirc. Even then it's debatable whether that or the arena is faster overall.

For now stick with the arena since you want xp and rare materials. Just replay floors 15-25. For quick rare mats and xp.

Grinding money in this game is very annoying since those evolved weapons start getting super expensive at the ex +3 level. Real estate is the best non gambling way to make money and it is so slow.

Oh yeah. Generally in Yakuza games when you go to a new city, you're only stuck there for a short time until you wrap up whatever main story thread you're working on. After that taxis will transport you between the cities. The series is really good about not locking you out of areas during the game.

Now that you know this, you can spend the next 10 hours stuck in the weapon upgrade loop of real estate(grinding money), arena(grinding mats), and workshop to upgrade.

this is true. it can take several real estate minigame runs for just 1 weapon upgrade. best to put on youtube or something while paying attention to the minigame.

Yeah the game basically tells you to go back to the arena and more or less complete it. I'm sure they're beatable without doing so but it makes things significantly easier

Oh so this was the fight ppl were saying was the power spike. He was tough, but it helped to have the super finisher you get from doing the company mini-game. Beelining to kill one of them ASAP is the way to go for sure. I had 2 healers to boot. Ended up doing it underleveled

It's a tough fight but for me I always had that second wind ability ready for boss fights and high risk situations. It's in his "Hero" class I forget what it is called. It does an auto revive. It doesn't cost a lot and is always active until it pops and then I just re-used it. So OHKO mean nothing. That first proper jrpg was way harder and had odd difficulty spikes, but it really had some great moments.

I also prefer Tokyo tower retreads post game and I guess the sewers more than the dungeons in Infinite Wealth. TBH I never used the sewers much at all.
