*sigh* - This sadly reminds me of how local newspapers get bought and sold, with ever-diminishing quality. Given the foundation of Gamefaqs is user-contributed content, you can see how a careless owner could very well pare the site down "free content that makes us money".

I'll never blame Ceej for selling the site, it made perfect business sense. But it is sad to see it in the churn of buy n' sell media commodities.

Capitalist hellscape my friend. We are all of us commodities.

Anyway, the likelihood all our work just disappears is admittedly pretty low (NO other source has what we have).

Still going to start preserving. Probably later this week when I get down time at work.

Well this would explain why there hasn't been a FAQ Bounty on the books in months.

Ever since the Red Ventures acquisition, there's always been a persistent poke in the back of my head that I need to copy and preserve all my formatted content. I still have all my .txt content, but the formatted stuff lives on this site. All it will take is a single person deciding it's not worth hosting on the Internet and another single person to decide that the creators have zero rights to it for it to disappear forever.

I dunno. The ending bugged me a bit.

Seriously though I absolutely love the ending.

It's distractions. If we have to keep defending against this little stuff they're hoping we won't have enough energy when they steal the next election.

Personally I'm good with the amount of the game I played and can always go back to the PS4 version if I want to.

Still, it's heartening to hear about this apparently dynamite port.

The money people don't hear this. The community managers hear it, and maybe the devs hear it by proxy, but it usually falls on deaf ears as the signal goes higher up the chain.

Usually the suits won't realize something was a bad idea until it doesn't make them as much money.

That's, y'know, if they don't blame others besides themselves, which has a habit of happening.

I don't understand the discussion. What's an AI art apologist?

Someone who will laud AI-created art as being "good enough" to replace art performed by humans, and yes, these people exist.

As has been referenced in this topic, the idea from a business standpoint is that this technology will replace hobbyists or commission-only artists.

If you haven't been keeping it, it's been bouncing around social media around tech folk that AI art is "fast becoming superior" to the art generated by people. There have been examples posted, none of which I've found particularly compelling, but it seems like it comes from an odd place.
