I now have 6 SSRs after getting the 3% Chronos drop with my first arena ticket: 2 Wind, 2 Water, and 2 Dark. So not great type coverage.

Hey, two of my five pulls! Kohaku at least can help rack up really high hit counts with her mystic arte and the dispel can be useful occasionally. Aegis just seems bad. His calling card is the highest defense in the game, but defense seems like a loser stat when you would rather just kill your opponent before they attack. Maybe if he had some sort of tanking ability it could work but he just has three generic attacks.

Yeah to awaken the character. But there's also a tab on the stone itself for ascending, and that says 1/6 also.

On the awakening thing, I got a dupe Leon and tested it. Awakening with a level 30 something stone didn't improve his stats any more than a level 1 stone. Maybe an ascended stone is different but by then you're talking about needing like 10 dupes to max out a character. It's possible that the system is that crazy, but it's not something I'm ever getting so I awakened him anyways.

Picked Velvet. Got two other SSRs (Leon and one of the new characters) so I didn't bother rerolling.

I know Tales games deal with some heavy stuff but the story takes an insanely dark turn early on.

I got 9 stars on both NA (rank 8) and EU (rank 21) and was very confused until I learned that it was MMR based. My Asia account which exclusively uses golden Whizbang (RIP) was on rank 15 and got 5 stars.

Pretty much exactly what I expected, (except I thought Giggling would go back to 5 mana, since it actually wasn't a problem card at 5 mana pre-nerf).

5 mana Giggling was a terror in arena. Probably the strongest arena card they've ever printed, other than maybe some legendary that you'd rarely see (Tarim?). It was still playable at 7 and might be among the top cards at 6. I guess we'll see when it rotates back in. Not that arena factored into their decision making at all, I'm sure. It's been so mismanaged and neglected that it's basically a dead format.

In supported format news, it looks like the buff to Millhouse in Battlegrounds put it into tier 1 (at least according to the HSReplay beta stats of top 20% players). Deathwing is still #1, though, even with the nerf. And the new murloc hero is trash tier.

19th in the CBIX expert challenge, which was enough to get the 9th place prize. Don't think I've ever been top 50 in the regular brackets.

Not really a formal top 10 but 9 of my nominations got in, which is surprising since I thought Crusader Kings II had no shot. None of the other 8 were surprising additions, although Assasin's Creed Odyssey barely made it as a 16. The "snub" was Euro Truck Simulator 2 which really had no shot.

They've already released the bracket, though, which makes it hard, at least in kayfabe, to justify which 16 you pick. Especially if they had booked something like a Taichi > Tana upset, do you put Taichi in the 16 because that's what you had booked or do you throw that out because people expect Tana in the tournament? Not an insurmountable problem, of course, and I agree that it would be way easier logistically.

There are still five New Japan Cup dates that they haven't cancelled yet so they will probably try cramming the whole thing on them, which is doable if you jettison most of the undercard matches.

Day 1: Left side first round

Day 3: All round 2 matches

Day 5: Semis and final

Of course at this rate those shows will probably be cancelled as well.
