Looks like clear stepping up of escalation. I don't know have the context before the video. But, you have belligerent woman for unknown reasons. Man moves hand towards her, not sure on angle if he touched her or not as he tells her not to touch him which is unclear if this happened prior or if he is referring to when she subsequently pushes his hand away. She pushes his hand away and slaps him. He threatens to punch her. Other man tries to stop it. Woman tries to hit the man in the conflict again. He hits her and pushes her. Then starts swinging at man trying to stop it. Other man swings back at him once and proceeds to again to try and stop it. Initial man punches him and kos him. And continues to hit him as woman tries to stop it. He pushes woman again. Then the guy stops.

I mean, that's what happens based on this video. It's hard to tell what the lead up was because we don't have that.

It's not rocket science. It didn't happen on his watch. He will run on defeating ISIS and not having an afghanistan disaster. Him wanting to pull them out also doesn't mean shit because he will just say the way he would have done it wouldn't have resulted in that. The margin he lost on was slim as hell. If he can turn just 150k votes just purely based on nostalgia, he wins in 2024.

Trump had the 2nd most votes all time by any candidate. The question is if Biden is winning over people who didn't vote for him now vs people who just wanted change or get disillusioned with Biden. You don't have Trump's missteps in focus and recency compared to Biden's now. Biden will be the one who didn't get rid of student loan debt, ended unemployment boosts, the afghanistan debacle, most likely didn't end covid, etc etc.

Actually it is a disaster for Biden if Trump re-runs. Trump will run on how he would have done it better and was winding down troops and withdrawing without this backlash. Biden will state Trump is what let the Taliban foster in the first place, but Trump is gonna have ads of the planes and such to win that amongst independents.

My understanding is that the "300,000" was basically just on paper and the actual number of Afghan military was perhaps closer to 50,000 in reality. Also, the Afghan government had stopped paying them in some instances, for months even so when the Taliban offered them money to defect or just surrender many just took it rather than fight. Especially since the government was also in many cases severely undersupplying them with rations and ammo.

I think a large reason why the Afghan military just surrendered en masse is because the Afghan government was just that incompetent and/or corrupt that they were stiffing the military to skim money off the top and cutting deals with the Taliban themselves in some instances.

That's why I think staying probably wouldn't have solved the underlying problems here. It sounds like we just let the government become super corrupt and absent deposing our own backed regime to prop up another one that wasn't... which would probably require an elevation in troop levels that Americans don't support at all... I dunno what could have been done. I think it's true we probably lost this war waaaaay back in like 2002-2003 with the decisions we made and it was only our continued occupation that kept the house of cards up as long as it did.

The war wasn't lost.

We just were dumb and tried to rebuild a nation we shouldn't have.
