I think he's earned the right after 15 years to not give a shit. I wish he'd just say that but you can see it if you read between the lines, he only wants to do enough to get by. The constant excuses are really annoying though. His technical setup is maddening. Seems almost like the dude invents problems for himself so he can feel justified in the strange decisions that come from them.

Jeez, 4000 a month? If you sell your game for $10 you gotta get 400 before that even starts being worth it. With how many indie games are out there, can publishers even make that heavy of a marketing lift? I know some obviously sell way better than that but it's rare. Feel like I'd rather just sell three a month on my own, obviously that's not enough to make a living, but it's net positive at that point, I think.

And I know that between the publisher and storefront cuts you don't get nearly $10. So let's just say you net $5, then you're looking at 800 sales a month.

And nice "proof" from ten years ago and some random zoomers on Twitter who probably just heard of her a week ago and have no idea what kind of disgusting bullying she went through for decades. Not the the bullying excuses this but it's just a weird hill to die on

Democrats as a political entity haven't been pushing against vaccines in the way that republicans are, which was the point of my comment. Individual people aren't really relevant there

And yes I know there are pro vax republican politicians, but even they try to triangulate with "well it's a personal choice" language which ultimately just fuels anti vaxxers

Why would they hypothetically need to have the cards distributed by the vaccine providers? What they should've done is make the paper cards temp ones, have the provider send info to the government confirming your vaccination, then the government has a centralized production of permanent cards that are mailed to you. Not that hard

Being "healthy" is very complicated anyway. Lots of elite athletes do things that are actually terrible for their body in the long run, or just general people who try to get in shape. And plenty of people are "naturally" skinny even if they actually eat like crap.

Now of course regardless of what is healthy, it's pretty universal that obesity is unhealthy, but I think it's less about painting it as healthy and more about not overwhelming people with more negativity. And people also get fat shamed in much more marginal cases but it's debatable if being slightly overweight is all that unhealthy

No I absolutely agree, there's no reason to misgender out of direct spite. I think some of it may be well-meant but misguided attempts not to lump her "good" trans people. But that's probably just concern trolling coming from cis people, and it's a bad precedent to start trying to draw lines on someone else's gender identity.

I hope that doesn't come across as offensive, I'm happy to use she/her and think that people aren't proving much of a point continuing to press against it.

I'm confused but I see what soma is saying. I leaned towards they as it's gender neutral and there does seem to be some ambiguity to the story, but I genuinely don't know how much any of what's being said is true, or still current. But it is true that she has she/her pronouns in her bio and I think the point here is what does the person asked to be called, not what do you think their gender is. I don't know if all trans people agree on it but I have no perspective to offer on it personally so I'd defer to people here who actually are trans

Speaking as a cis person, so maybe I'm off base... I feel bad for trans people since this seems like a no win situation. I'm sure that they would be happy to not have to be associated with Chris Chan, but it's also a slippery slope to let others decide if someone is "faking" their dysphoria (granted this already happens, but not usually by supposed allies). And on the legal side, it's gotta be tough that this could be a flashpoint for trans rights, but with such a heinous crime and someone who may not even understand what dysphoria really is, you either have to watch your rights possibly erode or root indirectly for an incestual rapist. And no I'm not talking about the mother daughter laws, that should be illegal even if it's a cis daughter, but maybe some other rights get attacked.

Anyways it's not hard to just use "they" if you don't believe them

This is why landlords are reviled. Sure it's one thing to just rent a room of the house you live in, or have one extra rental property, but super rich people/corporations buying property en masse screws the market. Here in Colorado lately there have been these companies buying shit on cash offers well over the list price. That's very attractive to a seller. Then sellers see that houses are being overbid by 10k, they raise their ask by 10k, then these companies still outbid so prices just keep ballooning. Now that kind of thing has to burst at some point but the bottom line is that profiteering off housing makes the market more inaccessible and the more that large entities do it, the worse we are off.

Your options are basically come to grips that you might have been racist, that you were duped in thinking everything was fine, or bury your head in the sand.

I don't know why people are so resistant to it. It's better to have been racist or wrong about things and reform yourself than to always stay ignorant if the conversation gets uncomfortable.

It's also worth remembering that electric cars aren't necessarily carbon-neutral or "green", either, because that electricity still needs to come from somewhere, and unless you're getting it from fully hydroelectric/geothermal/wind-powered/solar-powered sources, there's still a carbon cost. Along with the environmental impact of batteries, plastics, and other manufacturing elements.

You're not really wrong, but I don't like this argument. We know gas and diesel engines are NEVER going to be clean, but at least there is potential with electric. But I also don't like people being delusional about how green it is, or that it seems to be the de facto future solution now. Maybe there could've been potential in fuels that burn clean and are relatively clean to produce.

Edit: To be fair you were reasonable about what you said here. I know a lot of people who work in the fossil fuel industry and they like to post this take all the time in a smug manner, so I kinda get immediately triggered when I see it
