My current salary is $94k with a 15% bonus, but... I'm on call 24/7 being the only network engineer (they recently brought another guy on as a contractor, though, but even he's working too much). They said I would also be eligible for the annual raise in 2020 any way, so I'll probably end up at about the same pay rate as if I stayed here... Except San Antonio is a bit cheaper than Austin overall. --- |

And I'm now hired... Didn't get what I asked for, but I'm gonna make the jump any way. This will be a huge opportunity for me. The hiring manager said the goal would be for me to move into a senior position in the first 6 months. There's gonna be a ton for me to learn to get there, but I'm gonna take that challenge on and get a lot better in the next 6 months to 1 year any way. I'll also be part of a team instead of being the only network engineer, so the work life balance improvement will be worth giving up some of the potential top end of what I would make if I stayed at my current job. --- |
