Traffic slowed down really bad. Up ahead we saw the police and medics everywhere, the destroyed bike, the blood splatter all over the street and the leg of the body poking from under the tarp in the middle of the street. I think that just ruined my day :(

Motorcyclists are 37 times more likely to die compared to automobiles. Everybody thinks they're a "skilled driver" until someone side swipes them in their blindspot and turns them into pavement pudding. In fact, the average age and experience of motorcycle fatalities is increasing over the last decade due to aging boomers--Despite their greater "experience" they're still dying at remarkably high rates.

The majority are not dying, no, but again not dying doesn't make you strong. You're just taking needless risks. Car accidents are already the biggest cause of early death in the U.S. Motorcyclces take it MUCH further, still.

Say what you want, abrasion resistance is a big deal in motorcycle apparel.
Because you might not die from the road rash, but it'll send you into shock real easy.

Let's not even factor in that I wear a chest and spine protector that reduces blunt impacts by up to 40%.

When this jacket needs replacing, I'll get a suit with airbag cartridges.

Until you actually know what you're talking about, just stay quiet.

It's happened.
I had a poor helmet, and was just starting at 17 years old.
I was doing 40mph, as a matter of fact.
Know what happened?
I went over her car, hit the ground, and slid.
My helmet saved my head, mostly. The armour in my jacket saved my shoulder and elbows. I had nearly no road rash. Two small spots on my right knee, due to not having leather pants yet.
So yes,my jacket did work at 40mph.

My cheapish Icon helmet did not properly do its job, and I ended up with a major concussion. Although without a full-face helmet, I likely would have lost my jaw, the way I landed on the left side of my face. So there's that.

As it was, I lost some memory and spent a night in the hospital.

With the stuff I have now, I'd walk away.

Be smart, buy good shit, ride defensively, and don't fall victim to road rage. You're small, you never have the right of way.

Done. You probably won't die.

Taking the initial motorcycle courses when you are first going for the M1 teaches you to drive defensively at all times, but other drivers are more distracted than ever before because they love their smartphones too much.
You can be the best defensive driver on a motorcycle and still be easily killed because of a dumbass driver.
Cut the alpha act, its not impressing anyone here.
I love motorcycles, but I also respect those who dont wish to ride because of the high risk involved. Those are sensible opinions and yours just sounds like u no ride?! U weak im strong!

That'll fuck your day up, mainly the leg that gets hit.
But T bone accidents are relatively rare for motorcyclists. The most common accident involving more than just the motorcycle is the "left turn cutoff", which happened to me

It is safer to be a very skilled automobile driver than an equally skilled motorcyclist.

This, I cannot argue. Cars are safer.
Although things like airbag suits are levelling the field somewhat. If it'll protect Marc Marquez at 370KMH, it'll probably do a good job for me. It's not perfect, but it's better than what I have.
