The Supreme Court offered no explanation for its decision Tuesday, common for decisions on its emergency docket. There were no noted dissents.

Hopefully, it's because it's not an emergency. Not because our right to privacy and our right to be protected from illegal search is dead.

I think you're underestimating just how popular israel is with Americans. Obviously people like us understand that what's happening in Gaza is genocidal, But most religious folk, especially the religious right, see Israel as some bastion of holy land. They, unfortunately, don't really give a fuck what's happening in Gaza because they consider Israel's autonomy above everything else.

Biden would lose more support from them than support he would gain from preventing what's happening in Palestine. At least, that's how it reads to me.

They also passed a bipartisan Ukraine bill. Get more MAGAs in there and Ukraine will be in more trouble. Get more progressives in there and Israel could also face consequences. But you're dodging the issue. A progressive Congress may not be a perfect unstoppable plan but it's certainly better than not voting. A progressive Congress has a chance at helping whereas not voting is just giving up. How can not voting lead to things getting better? What is your alternative plan to make things better?

My plan has been vote democrat and abstain from voting for a president. We can't count on any Democrat to be progressive but at least have a better chance they won't put Republican judges up to vote.

The political compass is useless. It doesn't tell you the fundamental differences between economic systems. Different flavors of capitalism aren't comparable to socialism. They use a fundamentally different model. One involves the means of production in the hands of private entities. The other has it in the hands of workers. The left/right stuff also conflates a bunch of social issues that have nothing to do with economics. So Americans get confused by left-wing nationalism or a right wing party that supports LGBT or immigrants, because their entire concept of politics is just Democrats and Republicans. It's useless to even talk about socialism because people like you refuse to actually engage with the concept and just go on about government spending, welfare, or some other unrelated policy.

I'm not the one refusing to engage in the concept. Socialism, Social Democracy, and Democratic Socialism are all related further left of most U.S. Democratic politicians.

On the square political compass I don't think they would be on opposite ends. Biden is center right on economics and has allowed protests to be squashed by law so is at least at the beginning of authoritarian.

We saw Bernie do well with a crowded field. With ranked choice voting anyone else could stay in too. Bloomberg, Chris Christy, Andrew Yang, RFK ect.

If there was ranked choice voting Bernie wouldn't need to run in the Democratic primary. The whole point of ranked choice is for people to vote who they want and not who they think will win.
