Yeah, I didn't play KH until like 2008 or something like that. It was definitely after I played Abyss and several other games that came after KH. I was 20 y/o at the time (if it was 2008). So yeah, naturally I'm not as big on it. Might be worth another try, but no guarantees. The only things I remember are Sora, the Keyblade, that first boss fight, the door from Alice in Wonderland, and that gay guy... Riku was it?

Speaking of things like that... I was thinking of possibly doing a playthrough topic of whatever won this but clearly that's not going to happen now. I know two of these games like they're my own life's story. The only one I feasibly could is Pokemon White - restarting and finishing a Nuzlocke for once - but eh...

Oh, my expectations are quite low. I'm simply expecting "better than Ghost" but that's not saying much since Ghost was so bad. However, I've heard that there are four buff designs, so we ARE getting at least one swap again, UGH and there's that idol nullifier twist, so... my hopes are low!

Not going to watch S38, however. Who knows what's going to happen with filming - with all the chaos happening at CBS with Moonves getting sacked (did you guys hear that?), Survivor's renewal might not be a sure thing if the new boss decides to rebrand the network.

But I gotta say these last few episodes of Big Brother remind me why even in its worst seasons I like Survivor better. Even when it is a week where nothing but the opposition was going home they try to make it seem like something else might happen which makes it more entertaining.

That's the thing about having an edited show that's entirely pre-filmed. They can create stories like that. The trade-off is that you have winner's edits, whereas in Big Brother it all unfolds in front of you and you don't have edit divination to judge who wins.

The other thing with Big Brother is that knowing what's going on makes it easier for you to decide whether or not to watch an episode. It's easier to catch up. That said, Survivor is meant to have a cohesive season - whereas due to the fact that it all happens live, Big Brother simply can't. Each show has its pros and cons, but I'm with you on the whole. Survivor has historically had overall better casting because Lynne got (ugh) to pick the cast and Probst and Burnett signed off on them after meeting them one at a time, as opposed to Grodner and Moonves picking from 30-some. With Lynne only doing TAR and Moonves gone... things on both shows could change >_>

Never say never. You just may have reached the point of too invested and need a break just like Jordan Parhar did.

Perhaps my "break" will simply be watching episodes, listening to RHAP only when I like the guest, and continuing to harass Probst about giving Morgan another go. As opposed to watching and rewatching episodes, listening to four or more RHAPs a week, writing a blog, and live-tweeting and interacting with everyone. This probably means I won't be too active in here. But you're right. I might be coming down with Parhar Syndrome because I did all that. Perhaps my desire to blog to continue my investment blew up in my face. I already talked it over with Redmond about only doing 1-2 this season (lower page hits for my feature since it started), so I'm good there.

I haven't missed watching a Survivor episode on the Wednesday it aired since South Pacific. I have watched each season as it aired.

My breaks were previously during Big Brother seasons. The oversaturation is getting to me... but so is that Survivor is just plain bad these days. Production's artificial attempts to incite "Big Movez" through excess advantages and swaps is continually robbing us of good players with personality (Malcolm, Queen Sandra, Alan, Ali, Morgan, Stephanie, James, etc.) and leaving a void come the merge, thus doing the exact opposite of their desire. What's worse is they don't seem to realize this - and that lack of realization is costing them viewers, including superfans like myself.

We haven't gotten a good season since MvX and if production continues this route, it will never recover. Hopefully they will make adjustments for a back-to-basics "Survivor: 39 Days" season. If they do not do that, they will lose me.

...is any of that bad?

Lost interest in this Big Brother season a while ago. It's not as bad as last year, but still. It was much more fun when everyone was playing hard but not well. The best seasons are filled with entertaining personalities that are playing hard, even if they're not playing a good game.

I'm not at all interested in the Survivor pre-season stuff for some reason. I might have ranked Ghost Island too high... and it was in my bottom 3. That season seemed to do nothing but kill my interest in the show.

Is this bad?

L-Block started internally here on GameFAQs, actually - and quickly spread across the Interwebz. So while that result was heavily influenced by external forces, it was people bandwagoning on what started here. Draven and Undertale were all the outsiders, though - and that's largely why we haven't gotten a proper contest in 3 years.

I haven't played Fallout 1, actually - or 2, even. I didn't get very far in New Vegas - too much of a shooter for me. Steam says only 3 hours.

I like Elder Scrolls somewhat but it seems like every time I boot one of those games up or something like it, I get 20 hours into a playthrough and give it up. Not totally sure why. Been like that for a decade. Games centered around virtual exploration don't do all that much for me because there's a real world out there to explore. Games centered around finding your ideal playstyle and creating different characters get me my money's worth but don't stick with me, even if the setting is memorable. Those games usually don't have much of a plot focus - it's on world-building and character creation.

Most of my favorite RPGs are Japanese. If I had to absolutely pick one over the other, I'd choose an RPG with an intricate story, memorable characters, and a detailed world over one with an exciting battle system. Because anything gets stale after so long.

Vesperia's not that great. The plot is an incoherent mess and the characters are underdeveloped. While the battle system has less customization than Abyss, it's still loads of fun and I think-

As far as Symphonia is concerned, the longer time goes on, the more that Tales fans are starting to regard it as a pretty middling game in the series. It sits very comfortably in the bottom half for me.

Symphonia is good but dated. Of the five Tales games I've played...
Abyss > Xillia > Symphonia > Graces > Vesperia

When I play an RPG, I like a fun, complex battle system that doesn't feel too redundant quickly AND an intricate story with memorable characters. Abyss is one of the few JRPGs that does both so well and it's the standard I hold many others to.

Can confirm: Mother 3 is indeed out. I knew it had no chance to win - few have played it given its JP-only release - but it has a good reputation and I figured it feasibly could make the jury phase. I never expected it to do THIS well, so yes, it had a good run.

If you like JRPGs, you're going to like Abyss. Trust me. I second guff's motion to play it regardless. I've played through five times and never tire of it. Should make that six times sometime in the near future. It is that good.

*** NOTE: My dad had an extra ticket for the football game tomorrow and he's taking me. It is the early game (noon EST/11 am my time), which means I will be unavailable until mid-afternoon. A round with 7 saves per will be posted around 3:30 to 4:00 Eastern time unless enough people object.
